I knew that scumbag caretaker did it when I saw him being interviewed.

Not at all.
In fact i imagine life is darker when you choose to wallow in another persons grief.

Tangointhenight · 03/08/2012 22:51

Sorry but the phrase grief wank is vile, disgusting and totally and utterly inappropriate.

Actually I'm not sorry for thinking that.

TheDreadedFoosa · 03/08/2012 22:53

Mons - i disagree. Why would anyone have watched it if they didnt, on some level, enjoy iy?

Id be amazed if all these posters making sadfaces and going off to hold their children closer arent among those who keep the mucky miserylit genre going

Tangointhenight · 03/08/2012 22:57

thedreadedfoosa perhaps if you're so fucking bored with us sad sick bastards who watch this stuff then you could fuck off to the far side of fuck and then fuck off some more?

Just a suggestion.

ssd · 03/08/2012 22:57

I couldnt watch it either, too soul destroying

TheDreadedFoosa · 03/08/2012 22:58

Well, yes....thats always an option Tango.

careergirl · 03/08/2012 22:58

couldn't watch it. At the time the Soham case really haunted me and I just couldn't watch this.

ssd · 03/08/2012 22:58

Foosa, you're vile

Tangointhenight · 03/08/2012 22:58

Sometimes it's for the best.

TheDreadedFoosa · 03/08/2012 22:59

(btw, i didnt say any of those things. Just for the record)

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 03/08/2012 22:59

I didn't know it was on, but i couldn't have watched it. I have always thought the parents were very private, did they give their consent to the programme?

scarlettsmummy2 · 03/08/2012 23:01

Absolutely heartbreaking, in floods of tears watching it. I don't know how the parents have not hunted down Ian and Maxine and done something very violent towards them.

scottishmummy · 03/08/2012 23:03

Huntley went to prison
Carr was never involved.identity changed.moved location

janey68 · 03/08/2012 23:04

Yes Hokey, the programme was centred on the parents, it was more about the way they have faced what happened rather than dwelling too much on the events. Gave an interesting insight into how people respond to grief. I wouldn't describe it as 'enjoyable' viewing, but interesting

I believe the other set of parents are very private, and they weren't mentioned, though i have no doubt their grief is as deep. In fact that was perhaps the most interesting aspect, that there is no blueprint of how one 'should' respond, whats right for one person isn't right for another.

scottishmummy · 03/08/2012 23:06

Carr gave false alibi for Huntley.jailed
but not perpetrator

FrillyMilly · 03/08/2012 23:08

I was pleased to see those parents take their grief and turn it in to something positive. I'm glad they can take the most awful experience and try to help others from it. The press will intrude anyway so at least by participating they have some control. The medium made me feel uneasy but if it gives them comfort I can see why they do it. I just wish he hadn't been shown on the programme. I wonder if they are still in contact with Jessica's parents? Did it say? I missed the beginning.

Grief wank is probably the most vile thing I have ever seen written on MN.

Tangointhenight · 03/08/2012 23:09

How could you cover up for a man knowing what he had done? If DH had done this, well I won't tell you what I would do to him at the risk of being flames, let's just say he wouldn't make it out in one piece.

scottishmummy · 03/08/2012 23:11

had this been male dv to woman
grief wank wouldn't have been uttered
vile derisory expression

Tangointhenight · 03/08/2012 23:14

Scottishmummy its absolutely disgusting, just proves that there are so many sick fucks out there even on mumsnet.

Makes my skin crawl.

lemonmuffin · 03/08/2012 23:16

what is it about people expressing sympathy for bereaved parents that angers you so much sgb?

this level of hatred that you're showing is not normal you know, really it's not.

scarlettsmummy2 · 03/08/2012 23:16

If my husband did this there wouldn't have been a chance in hell I would have covered for him. How could you?

Lucius · 03/08/2012 23:20

Wow, some of you ladies are fiery! I just want to say before I leave... Yes ITV did a mostly tasteful remembrance and the lack of adverts was respectful. Also, I have the utmost respect for Holly's parents who stayed strong and stuck together. Although I have to say, ITV don't give a shit about remembrance or feelings or respect! They are a business who are looking for money and viewers. It's all they want. Do you think the Sun newspaper has empathy as well? Saying that even if there was a tasteful documentary to be made, people like me will always see the dark side.
My heart goes out to the parents and the poor girls who were ripped away by that sick bastard.

Tressy · 03/08/2012 23:20

SGB, seems to have an issue with love and relationships generally. Just saying.

SoleSource · 03/08/2012 23:27

I read somewhere that extrene reactions usually mean that person is scared of something....

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 03/08/2012 23:29

Has it ever been said if Carr knew he'd done it when she gave the alibi?

Or maybe he span her a story of "it wasn't me, I don't want to be falsely accused and let the police waste valuable time, etc" and she was a bit dim and believed him?????

Couldn't watch the programme.
