I take it we are all sitting comfortably, and have the strawberries, cream and champagne at the ready ?

Here's to a fantastic 2 weeks of tennis !

'cheesed off' Jo Durie's commentary is classGrin

sayanythingrogerjustrogerme · 27/06/2012 20:55

Pag, I'm so Envy. I managed to go every year when I lived in London (either through the ballot or just by getting returns after work to watch a couple of hours' worth of tennis) but ever since I moved, I'm lucky if I catch it on tv.

sayanythingrogerjustrogerme · 27/06/2012 20:59

Anyone watching the Djoko match by the way? Young Harrison was robbed of a break by a bad call.

Pagwatch · 27/06/2012 21:01

It's tough luck I think Maryz - like the cricket. I think if there are a few hours of play you get nowt. We have had a couple of years sheltering under the no 1 court through hours of rain just to go home again having seen next to nothing.
so pleased we have had centre court the last couple of years.I love it. Look forward to it all year.

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 27/06/2012 21:03

I'm veryEnvy.
Pironkova will come back tomorrow and win[hopeful]Grin

Pagwatch · 27/06/2012 21:09

Rahhfa Grin

Thanks Grin

I was a bit 'come on the underdog' to begin with but I am a fan now. She was really ballsy and focussed.

MrsVamos · 27/06/2012 23:08

With this tennis they are really spoiling us, no ? Grin

Some great tennis going on. So pleased for Roddick, just hope he doesn't get beat tomorrow.

I was pleased for Paszek too, I turned over when Shrieky was a set up, what's happening there ?

Thought Ryan held up against DickDjok really well. He didn't let him win 'easy'. I wanted him to win at least a set, I thought he deserved it. Sad

Another good afternoon's viewing tomorrow. Andy Murray is on CC 1st tomorrow, with Rafa afterwards...there is a Women's match up first.

Poor Tsonga has been pushed out to Ct3, I would imagine if anyone wants to catch his match it will be "on the red button". Hmm

I am very envious of all you peeps who have been/are going. Envy

I am sorely tempted to need to go 'somewhere' on men's 1/4 final day next week, and find myself in Wimby. Grin

If anyone is going, could you not fashion some sort of sign and wave it about a bit, maybe HELLO MNERS or something ? You don't have to say who you are, just let us see you on the tv ?

centre court was fantastic
don't know how anyone can say that the Wosniacki match was boring
It was fantastic, but I had to leave at the end of the 2nd set.
Very disappointed I didn't see Djokovic.
Apples were you wearing a top with butterflies on?

NoComet · 28/06/2012 00:22

Just marking my place, pesky visitor having gone home. I can watch tennis.

Mama1980 · 28/06/2012 07:52

Hi anyone who's been to Wimbledon are children allowed in? Have you seen many? Thanks

uselesslife · 28/06/2012 08:59

children are allowed into the grounds, no pushchairs, under 5's don't need a ticket

babes in arms and under 5's not allowed on the show courts

there were loads there yesterday

Merrylegs · 28/06/2012 09:09

There was a teeny tiny baby there yesterday - must have been no more than a week old.

Gazillions of kids go - and there is a play tennis zone with lots of interactive stuff - DS got to play tennis with Jamie Murray yesterday! It was heaving mid afternoon though coz of the 'rain'.

uselesslife · 28/06/2012 09:16

actually, pushchairs are just not recommended.
but yes as Merrylegs said it can get very busy
38,000 people all looking for a drink at the same time!!
Yesterday was the busiest I have ever seen it
But I think it's rare for all the courts to be off at the same time.
It was just for half an hour yesterday when they put the roof on Centre court

Mama1980 · 28/06/2012 09:46

Thanks all Grin planning to go tomorrow get there very early ds is 4 and loves tennis, he's been to the ATP and Roland garros just Wimbledon website isnt really clear but if there are loads of children there yay. Thanks again muchly

CremeEggThief · 28/06/2012 10:06

Does anyone else find the 8 p.m. timing of the highlights show incredibly annoying and pointless? It was much better at 10.30 or 11 p.m., when all play is over for the day. A 'highlights' show when play is still on-going is ridiculous! Ok, rant over!

uselesslife · 28/06/2012 10:07

yes, it's really annoying.
10 or even 9.30 is much better

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 28/06/2012 10:17

I knowCreme- i said that last night- take off the live stuff, to put the highlights onHmm It definitely made more sense when it was on at 9.30- 10 ish. And then they just showed the Shrieky match that was playing anyway. Rubbish.

Today should be good- Murray/Karlovic has potential. Don't know much about Rosol, so not sure whether he will be much of a Nadal threat. I thought harrison played well against Djoko- against anyone else, he's have been a real threat- one to watch.

James Ward and Mardy Fish could be good- the second round is often when lesser known brits take on the big guns and give it a good go. Nothing to lose, really!Grin

CremeEggThief · 28/06/2012 11:07

Glad I'm not the only one, ladies :). I wonder if enough of us wrote in to complain, would they change it back to the old time?!

Should be some good tennis today :).

uselesslife · 28/06/2012 11:12

if you sky+ the Wimbledon today programme, you get the end of the live Wimbledon programme
bloody stupid

Can I just say, that I didn't think Federer was on top form yesterday, he made a few errors, I wouldn't back him right now.
< might eat my words>

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/06/2012 11:20

MrsVamos, if you're up for organising it then why not?!

Although I'm not sure, thinking about it, that I want to reveal myself in RL seeing as I've admitted to an Andy Murray crush. Grin

not to mention all the other appalling things I've discussed on MN

uselesslife · 28/06/2012 11:29

It's very hot in SW19
Very humid

Could be thunderstorm later Sad

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 28/06/2012 11:53

I sort of want to watch Keothavong, but dh got up for work at 3am, and I couldn't get back to sleep. So am thinking of a wee nap before the main action starts if dd2 stays asleep.

HenriettaChicken · 28/06/2012 12:49

...you didn't miss much. I do quite like Errani, though. I enjoyed the variety she brought to the French Open.

CremeEggThief · 28/06/2012 12:59

Another one who's impressed with Errani's grass court game. She's good for the women's game.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of shape Serena is in now, before the big guns later on!

NoComet · 28/06/2012 13:55

I like Sharapova when she's interviewed, but I wish seed shut up. The weather is making my head hurt quite enough.
