Also fortunately not close enough to what DH or I do to cause what is termed "shouting at the telly" in this household unlike any IT based drama which DH will entirely ruin by pointing out the myriad ways in which they have got it wrong

I have a media degree and did an awful lot of analysing tv/film/popular culture back in the day, so if you want to talk about feminism/stereotypical characters/cultural norms as regards this programme be my guest, but let's all do it in the pub over a beer. The arguments you want to start would require reams to be written to refute them.

Amy Farrah Fowler is not a lesbian. She does have sexual urges which she relieves with an electric toothbrush, plus she definitely fancied Zack in one episode.

I don't watch the show to analyse it, only as a form of entertainment. Sorry and that, it almost feels like I'm letting the side down. :)

That's mainy why I watch it, because it's light entertainment and I don't have to use my brain to watch it.

It clearly is as good as it thinks it is, because it's got people talking and watching, so it's job done!

I've never got the vibe that Amy is meant to be gay.
She often talks about wanting things to go further with Sheldon.

It's a show about clever people - most of whom aren't beautiful. I think it's geat.

I do think there are jokes that you only get if you have, say, a maths degree. I can't think of any now which doesn't exactly add credence to my argument however ...

And Amy is definitely straight, with a girl-crush on Penny (and the actor is a microbiologist in RL).

I bloody love BBT and got myself DH the series 1-4 box set for Christmas.

I have a little geek-crush on Sheldon; I love how he just opens his mouth and whatever is in his brain falls out.

It never crossed my mind Amy was gay - she has a girl crush on Penny because she Penny has a normal girlie lifestyle that she has never had. So she lives a bit vicariously though Penny. Sheldon I just love and again I don't analyse. Agree with whoever said Howard is a brilliant actor - he can convey enormous emotion just with his eyes. It's just good fun!

Dd introduced me to this and I love it. The one where Sheldon can't have his hair cut, embraces chaos and buys bongos is sooooo funny. I found sheldonannoying at first but he's grown on me.

I'm so looking forward to Howard and Bernadette's wedding. I hope its in an hour-long season finale.

I think this series could be the best yet, the characters have really developed.

youarefuckingkidding - I am hoping (naively) that some of it (Howard's exploits in particular) goes over my 9yo & 5yo DC's heads, because they watch it too.

I almost wetted myself laughing when Sheldon and the krupke (?) settled a score by playing basketball.

I'm jumping in with my two favourite moments so far (also the favourites of DS)

• Sheldon in the ball pit, Leonard having to go in after him. Sheldon hiding then popping up to say 'Bazinga!'
• Raj trying to help Sheldon meditate, Sheldon's imaginary happy place, Sheldonopolis, comes under attack. Sheldon tells his subjects something like "Citizens of Sheldonopolis, this is your mayor, we are under attack. If the children can't run, leave them behind."

I don't know of it's been mentioned but you do all realise Amy is Blossom don't you? The first time I saw her character I was racking my brains as to where I'd seen her before.

She's a PhD as well and has just published a book on attachment parenting. Busy lady!

My fav moment ever is Sheldon and the Leonard Nimoy napkin.

It took me ages and wikipedia to work that out! I adored blossom. 6pm channel 4 Fridays. I wonderwhat happened to the girl who played six? Jenna von oy, such a great name. Off to google.

Grosse, I've not seen that episode yet, I've only watched that scene on the Youtubes, and it is hilarious.

I've only just realised Leslie Winkle was Darlene in Roseanne.

Amy did her research dissertation on something related to my DD2s rare genetic disorder - even more reason to love her IMO
