I didn't mind it. Thought it was better than X Factor - which isn't hard. I didn't especially love any of the contestants, but quite liked the judge's banter.

I like Jessie J !!! I don't really know her music but think it's refreshing to see a confident woman on TV and it's not all about her hairstyle or clingy dress or whatever like Cheryl Cole.
I expected to hate that William one, but he was quite cute. Hated that Danny(?) haven't got a clue who The Script are. Don't think he came across well.

OH! but in answer to the thread title, I don't think it will be talent over looks. Of course not. They just need a gimmick to make them seem different from X Factor.
I agree that all the stuff about their 'journey's' is annoying...

But, I'm glad they've got rid of the ones who can't sing and are just there to be laughed at. (Which I know is kind of the point) But it makes me sad!

Hello there, I absolutely loved this show! Will definitely be tuning in next week.

I have to say though I find Simon Cowell so odious that I have never watched X-Factor. In fact the last time I watched a show like this I voted for Will Young. So my usual dose of cynisym is somewhat lacking

We all enjoyed it. Liked the Rocket Man bloke esp.

I enjoyed the first show-pretty good singing and funny! It seems more of a real talent contest compared to those other 'fake' ones. I'm not totally convinced I'll want to keep watching each week but willing to give it another go next week.

The trouble is, there are no really shit ones (but a good few middling crap I thought?) so it restricts my bitching. Plus the genuine sad stories hamper the evil.

No, I thought the NornIronTrooser man was shit. He could have been great but that particular performance was crap imo. Purple hair lady was fair ropey too.

I thought the last contestant, the woman who sang JessieJ's song was the star choice - fab voice, brave to cover JJ and changed the song to suit her. Will.i.am may have only got one but I reckon he got the best. (no idea who he is, or indeed Danny Doo-dah).
