Have started new thread, will be watching last night episode today and will report back.

Ok yep surprise ending was a huge understatement Grin wasn't sure if I'd get flamed for saying too much though, and it is always uncomfortable to see how quickly 'civilised society' breaks down isn't it,

I felt sorry for the poor soldier Sad

The Mist gave me nightmares for days, and made me irrationally angry at Stephen King for allowing the change. The end of the novella The Mist was all about hope - the film however....

somewherewest · 23/02/2012 16:35

Just to warn my fellow wimps, the next episode apparently involves someone (not a regular character) having their face eaten by zombies Shock.

anonacfr · 23/02/2012 19:26

I just Wikipedia-ed The Mist. I can see how the film ending would traumatise you compared to the book.
I guess the film ending 'makes sense" in that it brings closure. Not necessarily the kind you want though.

Re the next episode I reckon Beth eats Otis' wife. Or possible Maggie. In fact Maggie would be great. Not only do I find her annoying but the show needs a jolt of adrenaline/death moment. Sophia was poignant but Otis' death is the one that had me shocked in a good way.

Wow excellent episode Smile

Anyone else heard the announcement about David Morrissey joining the walking dead cast? Apparently he will be playing The Governor. Love David Morrissey so am happy about this!

somewherewest · 25/02/2012 09:15

Yes I saw that too (if you like The Walking Dead on Facebook you get regular news). For those who don't know the comic plotlines the Governor is a dangerous pyscho who rules over a rival community of survivors and comes into violent conflict with Team Rick. I was kind of expecting Meryl to be the Governor, which would have set up an interesting Daryl plotline.

somewherewest · 25/02/2012 09:16

SPOILER

Apparently the actor who plays Shane has signed up to play a major role in another TV show, so his character is presumably not long for this world.

wintera · 25/02/2012 10:24

I found out about David Morrissey because he was trending on Twitter last night and I wondered why. It was because the news had been announced apparently. To be honest I was thinking Shane might go at the end of this season. If the Governor is being introduced next season then it makes sense that Shane would go before then. The Governor will be the nemesis for next season it seems. These American tv execs seems to love our British actors don't they?

Errr, Somewhere, putting Spoiler in Bold will not stop people from seeing the spoiler underneath. We can't do spoilers on Mumsnet.
I think someone tried in the last thread to post and scroll down a long way but it still put the text almost directly under the spoiler headline.

Anyway, he died a long time ago in the timeline of the comic graphic novel. So anything we get on the show is a bonus. Or not, I suppose if you are not a fan.
He is a complete psycho, but he is so good at it.
Daryl is being a bit naughty, and I can't decide if Carol is trying to get closer to him or is getting caught up in the victim thing again, as an ex battered woman.

Lori is evil. But she has suddenly got interesting.
Hershel has suddenly got a bit kick ass.
Andrea is annoying.
Am still loving Rick. That look on his face when Lori was stabbing Shane in the back was interesting.

Melty · 25/02/2012 15:06

So if David Morrissey is the Governor, does this mean they will actually be leaving the farm?
Or will he be part of the gang that they just had a run in with.
These last two episodes have been excellent.

wintera · 25/02/2012 16:13

Agree - these last two episodes have been very good indeed. The second half of the season is definitely upping the pace somewhat. I read that some exec on The Walking Dead was comparing Lori to Lady Macbeth in the way she is planting the seed of doubt in Rick's head about Shane.

I hope they stay away from making Daryl and Carol / Andrea and Dale into couples. I just don't think it would work for the characters myself.

Thanks for the link to the interview with Andrew Lincoln. Have always had a soft spot for him since This Life, and it's good to see him doing well now.

Have any of you seen the Inside The Walking Dead series at all? You can watch them on youtube usually. Interviews about the episode with cast and crew. Here's a couple for you :

AWimbaWay · 26/02/2012 22:00

Have just watched latest episode, loved it. Going to check out Melty and wintera's links now.

AWimbaWay · 26/02/2012 22:09

Ha, when people were talking about David Morrissey I was thinking you all meant Neil Morrissey and what weird and crap casting that would be, couldn't understand why you were all acting like it was perfectly fine Blush.

notyummy · 26/02/2012 22:15

Grin you eejit.

susiedaisy · 26/02/2012 22:58

I did have to google him as I wasn't sure who he was.

OP posts:
AWimbaWay · 27/02/2012 09:24

I know, I was imagining him with his brummie accent and dopey grin Grin.

Wonder how Shane will go, if he does. Zombies, Rick or one of the others?

limitedperiodonly · 27/02/2012 09:40

Why did Rick, Glenn and Herschel go to that bar? I've forgotten. There must have been a reason other than it made a change from suicidal missions to the chemists.

God, how I hate Lori. She won't die because the producers would think it was too dark to let her unborn child become a zombie in utero and gnaw its way out.

susiedaisy · 27/02/2012 10:13

Herschel went AWOL and they found his whisky toddy thing moved from his chest of drawers so guessed he'd gone to drown his sorrows.

OP posts:
wintera · 27/02/2012 10:21

AWimbaWay - I am actually hoping that the person who kills him in the comics is the one who kills him in the tv series too. Would make for an interesting plot development I think . . . . .

JKSLtd · 27/02/2012 10:45

So, napkins really?

Where are they getting fresh bread rolls from too? Haven't spotted any wheat planting/harvesting/milling/whatever else the little red hen had to do to get bread going on Grin

I should be doing housework really...

limitedperiodonly · 27/02/2012 10:45

'Herschel went AWOL and they found his whisky toddy thing moved from his chest of drawers so guessed he'd gone to drown his sorrows.'

What?! That is an Olympic-standard leap of logic. Grin

susiedaisy · 27/02/2012 12:07

susiedaisy · 27/02/2012 12:11

The full story is after Shane shot the walkers out of Herschel's shed which included his wife, Herschel had a bit of a melt down and turned to drink which he always said he would never do as his father was an abusive alcoholic, so when his daughter saw the whiskey thing moved from the chest of drawers which belonged to Herschel's father, they put two and two togehter and deceided he had gone looking for drink.
