What an antickimax the Carl zombie baiting was

susiedaisy · 09/03/2012 22:59

Wow another fab episode poor Dale, stupid Carl,

OP posts:
AWimbaWay · 09/03/2012 23:03

I bet kids would do that, go out zombie baiting and playing zombie chicken. Poor Dale though.

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 23:07

Well!
Why did none of them think to tell him they hadn't killed the captive? And how badly was that handled? If you want to kill him humanely walk in there and shoot before he registers. Don't faff with blindfolds, kneeling, last words.

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 23:09

And who or what were they all kicking in the next episode? And if they're strapped for cash does p dog demand a huge sum per every word he utters? Think he's said 2 words this series and Tbh I'd forgotten all bout him!

susiedaisy · 09/03/2012 23:15

I know dog hadn't said a bloody word all season so farConfused

That was a difficult one deciding whether to kill Randall I could see both sides, but rick is a faffer!

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 23:20

Yeah I thought he was going to offer him a last cigarette and chance to call hi mum

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 23:22

Oh and Lori's little wifey act is really starting to grate. Oh yes Rick, whatever you say, I think what you think, tell me what to think. Is she guilty? Calculating? Or was she stepford-y before zombies?

susiedaisy · 09/03/2012 23:30

You'd of thought she would of kept the brat Carl in her sights when Randall was being taken into the barn she seems to leave him to roam anywhere he fancies

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 23:38

They all seem happy Fpr him to roam freely among the unread

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2012 09:11

That was great. I agree with wimba, a kid would go zombie-baiting and playing with guns.

Hate Rick and Lori even more. And yes, why not tell poor Dale he at least won the argument before putting him out of his misery?

Did I see a blonde, curly-haired woman in the room when they were deciding Randall's fate? Who's she? I've never noticed her before but she got to speak more than T-Dog

susiedaisy · 10/03/2012 10:06

The blonde haired women is Otis widow,

Rick is an ethical man which is to be admired but not sure it's gonna get him too far at the moment Sad

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2012 10:19

Of course, thanks susie. Must pay more attention.

AWimbaWay · 10/03/2012 10:23

I thought that too Stealth, surely you'd just shoot the poor guy in the back of the head before he realised what was going on if you were going to kill him.

I didn't like the torture either, guess they're trying to show the breakdown of normal society but I was with Dale all the way.

I agree limited, I was almost shouting at the screen for someone to tell Dale they hadn't killed the other guy!

susiedaisy · 10/03/2012 10:30

I didn't even think of telling dale, I was too busy thinking how I wanted to throttle Carl

OP posts:
susiedaisy · 10/03/2012 10:31

Personally I don't like Randall I think when let loose or trusted by the group he's gonna turn out to be a nasty mercenary type!

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2012 11:15

I missed the torture. The recording clashed with the end of another recording so I had to turn it off for a few minutes.

I'll watch the repeat tomorrow. I suppose that makes me one of those people Dale was talking about. Wink

I've wanted to throttle Carl since episode one but while I was shouting at him last night it occurred to me it was realistic because it was exactly the kind of stupid thing a boy would do.

wintera · 10/03/2012 13:41

Yeah I agree, it's the kind a stupid horrible thing that a kid would do in real life to be honest. I read somewhere that the writers want to explore more stuff with Carl as let's face it, a kid growing up in that kind of world would turn out to be weird, no question. Also they reckon it will get darker and more twisted next season too, total chaos, really gonna push the characters to their limits apparently as society has totally broken down. Kind of depressing really but there you go. Should make interesting viewing. I also read that the change in tone was one of the main reasons they decided to kill off Dale, he's been the moral compass of the group so without him there the shit will hit the fan as there is no longer an older guiding voice to try to steer them in the right direction.

wintera · 10/03/2012 16:09

I've found the "Inside the Walking Dead" show on youtube for last night's episode - But please do not watch this if you still haven't watched last night's episode as it will ruin it for you.

cornsilkidy · 10/03/2012 16:16

I also think Randall is a baddie. The way he managed to get Carl to go towards him in the barn was very manipulative. I reckon he's one of the ring leaders of his group. He may be the one to kill Shane.

AWimbaWay · 10/03/2012 16:28

I think Randall might be a baddie too, but still couldn't kill him in cold blood. Don't think I'd last long would I Grin.

ILovePonyo · 10/03/2012 21:37

Hi all -

relating to last weeks episode, if I was Shane no way would I go off on a 'mission' with Rick - if Rick got eaten by a zombie do you think the group would believe Shane when he went back to tell them?! They'd think he'd done the same to Rick that he did to Otis.

Agree wintera - Carl is looking like a proper little psychopath in my humble (and untrained) opinion. Why the hell weren't his parents watching him when he went wandering? If he'd been 'got' by a zombie the whole group would have been out looking for him just like with Sophia. He reminds me a bit of a spoiled prince type character - the leaders son, I think soon he'll get away wth saying what he wants to who he wants. Little bugger Grin

Re: Randall, even if he wasn't a baddy he would be by now - why would he have any loyalty to the group after the beatings and potential killings? Thye are being stupid keeping him alive I know this isn;t real btw

Tamoo · 11/03/2012 09:34

YY - I don't understand why Carl is wandering around unsupervised. There's about fifteen people there, what are they all doing apart from cooking full roast dinners every day And surely Rule No 1 is DON'T GO INTO THE WOODS.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2012 20:50

I've just ranted about this very thing on another thread in feminism. The little wifeys all want to iron and clean - maybe they could add watching the one child who is there to the top of their list? More important than a startched collar, surely?

notyummy · 12/03/2012 08:33

Have stayed away from this thread as I only managed to watch Friday's episode last night. I agree that Carl was doing he sort of stupid/cruel thing that children would do for a dare (throwing stones at the house of the local 'eccentric' would probably be the equivalent in the 'real' world.) But I also think they are trying to show how his experiences have 'normlaised' violence and fear for him and probably damaged him as a result - in the same way that kids who have suffered abuse.
Felt sad to lose Dale tbh (although I sometimes found him annoying.) I have to admit I was 'eeking' at the telly as he was being ripped apart. Grim.

Thought it was a god episode though.
