Camera panned to empty cot - forewarning or dramatic?

working9while5 · 08/02/2012 21:46

Chesticles, hugs. I didn't have as brutal a time of it but am shaking and crying for what that poor family have just been through..

allnightlong - I think they were just trying to debrief what would have been a difficult situation for all the staff team, and focus on the positive outcome, which was a live baby.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 08/02/2012 21:47

I am a bit Hmm about how this series has been set up.
They seem to want us to compare the different couples.
In this case I really hope they are not setting us up to think 'aww look at that poor decent couple suffering whilst that young girl just pops out a fatherless baby'

I am beginning to fear this is the case.

CuppaTeaJanice · 08/02/2012 21:47

Did they have her in that position the whole time - flat on her back? DD had shoulder dystocia and the midwives did the manouvres while I was still kneeling down. The other half dozen hcps just stood around like spare parts. Although the main midwife was wearing a sort of riot mask which was a bit disconcerting.

Absolutely terrifying! I am crying my eyes out

VerbalBehaviour · 08/02/2012 21:47

cannot look at that and think they had the option to go for a cs and didn't take it

EquestrianStatue · 08/02/2012 21:47

Pam if the baby's already in the birth canal it's usually too late for a CS

Dotty342kids · 08/02/2012 21:47

huggly, I think just to indicate that they were all still in theatre, instead of a nice birth room?

Armi · 08/02/2012 21:47

I need a glass of wine. Was crying so much the dog came to see what the matter was.

That was dreadful. :(

amandine07 · 08/02/2012 21:47

oh bloody hell....yes with hindsight a CS would have been less traumatic in some ways, at least the baby's shoulders wouldn't have got stuck half way out of the vagina. shit am crossing my legs at the thought of the episiotomy/ies and the tearing that must have occurred....when the baby was stuck I guess they have pull/push to get it moving, making another cut would give more room I guess :(

allnightlong · 08/02/2012 21:48

Dotty your right I was being to harsh on her, she was probably very shaken herself from the birth and just so glad the baby was alive.

AnEcumenicalMatter · 08/02/2012 21:48

Fuck.

That was not a reassuring watch for a nervous 20 week pg first timer.

Poor Dawn, DH and baby.

Evilwater · 08/02/2012 21:48

That was very scary.

GreenEyesAndHam · 08/02/2012 21:48

Dearie me, my husband just got off his sofa to give me a hug during that!

SharkBite · 08/02/2012 21:48

Allnightlong - MW were discussing a possible broken arm versus possible stillbirth. I think 'that's nothing' referring to a broken arm is quite true in the circumstances Confused

RabidEchidna · 08/02/2012 21:48

DS2 had cord round his neck and was dark purple when he was born, he was rushed away and waiting for him to cry, all be it only a bout 90 seconds were the longest of my life I though he was dead

ShowOfUmblestAnds · 08/02/2012 21:48

Oh God.

I was at the point of them having both hands in me, trying to manipulate dd round and failing and her heartrate shot up, shot down, shot up and then disappeared entirely. I have never, ever, ever been so scared. They couldn't get her out and went straight to emcs. She was transverse too, had a big tear on her skull, a damaged shoulder, muscle damage to her neck, severe bruising and cut ear.

JollyBear · 08/02/2012 21:48

Oh my goodness, that was so upsetting. Poor woman, poor baby.

amandine07 · 08/02/2012 21:48

while all the post-birth talk is going on, you can see the stiches being done, all those bloody swabs Shock

OTTMummA · 08/02/2012 21:48

omg, im shaking after watching that! poor baby mum and dad Sad

snowmaiden · 08/02/2012 21:49

That was so similar to dds birth, although she didn't have any broken bits and was breathing. It took them 45 minutes to stitch me together again, and my bits will never be the same again. Won't have another baby either.

PamPerdbrat · 08/02/2012 21:49

Forceps just seems so... Brutal. You know? I don't know why a cs is better, but every forceps I've seen has left mummy in more distress than the ladies who end up with cs.
