AtYourCervix · 04/01/2012 11:22

AtYourCervix · 04/01/2012 11:23

GetHerOffTheBloodyBed · 04/01/2012 11:24

TaaaaDaaaaa!

I hope to be proved wrong.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2012 11:33

I'm Really looking forward to this, not sure why as I see it all day at work but I do love it!

Wormshuffler · 04/01/2012 11:38

I will be taping it . I'm in for a elcs tomorrow , I just watched home birth diaries and found myself getting depressed all over again about not being able to do it the natural way.

FrillyMilly · 04/01/2012 11:43

I'm going to be watching but I started to get a bit bored towards the end of the last series. Has it changed hospital this series? I'm currently 38 weeks with DC2. Not sure how I will feel watching it heavily pregnant.

beejayel · 04/01/2012 12:33

I did that last year Frilly, couldn't help myself, gave birth at 6pm, and then watched the last episode on the hospital TV, with babe in arms!

Love the name change GetHerOff.

Ooh the anticipation...

ChangeyChangerson · 04/01/2012 12:37

Yippee... DH will be thrilled! Grin

Flisspaps · 04/01/2012 12:40

AtYourCervix You've obviously not seen the trailer where the woman says to her birth partner 'I wish I could stand up', he goes to help her and she looks rather pointedly at the CFM belt around her middle :(

FrillyMilly · 04/01/2012 12:46

I think it's unlikely I'll be watching tonight episode with babe in arms but I don't want to wait til the end of the series.

tiddleypompom · 04/01/2012 12:47

God, I wish you'd been at mine then (well not really as that would have been weird but you know what I mean). I spent the whole of the last series shouting that at the TV (without any experience of birth, just the knowingness of having Read Some Books) and then I go and end up with a forcep birth and legs in stirrups.

I shall watch it - but feel I may be more sensitive this time, which means a man-size box of kleenex, sob.

ShowOfHands · 04/01/2012 12:52

Maybe going to watch it. I also spend the whole thing disappointed in my body because it couldn't do it naturally.

And the editing pees me right off. Because it encourages us to judge. I had a 31hr labour with dd, for the first 28hrs I was upright, mobile and active, in a pool, walking, pacing, pushing in every conceivable position. For the last 3hrs I transferred to hospital and the only way I felt comfortable was flat on my back. I could NOT move and was in sheer agony. Of course had there been a camera hidden in the corner, the audience would have been yelling/judging about get up get up get up. And I don't like the way my mother comes round a week later and mutters about what they did wrong or the fuss they made. Because judging a woman in labour is bloody awful and it makes me feel judged for failing too.

Right, so rant over, I could probably watch it. Maybe.

ShowOfHands · 04/01/2012 12:54

Though I freely and wholeheartedly admit that there is a problem with getting women to work with their bodies as opposed to against them in hospital and the show does highlight this. But I still won't judge or assume we're seeing the full picture on OBEM.

sittinghippo · 04/01/2012 13:07

Flisspaps I had CFM and I was still able to get up off the bed and hang off my DH's neck.
ShowOfHands agree with you for the most part, but I just love the 'behind the scenes' aspect of it all, and empathising with the labouring women.
You should know better than to say you failed, tut tut, CS does not equal failure!! Having said that, I had CS with DD1 and was desperate to 'do it properly' with DD2, so I know where you're coming from.

BertieBotts · 04/01/2012 13:12

I will probably shout at the TV too and DP will get annoyed - he hates talking over programmes, thinks you should just watch them Grin

I found the first series really moving because it wasn't long after having DS, the second series I didn't really get into, but looking forward again to this one :)

roundtable · 04/01/2012 13:14

Very excited as last time I watched it I was pregnant, but like show I ended up with a cs and felt a bit of a failure so not sure what emotions will be like.

I will be watching tonight, hoping they all have good birth experiences.

BertieBotts · 04/01/2012 13:16

I hate it when people are judgy about the woman making a fuss too SoH. I remember a very young woman with an unsupportive partner who was quite hysterical and people kept saying she was making such a fuss on threads etc Hmm And the midwives were really busy and didn't have time to sit down and try to calm her down a bit, which I thought was really sad. Her mum was there as well clearly not knowing what to do. I could really relate because I did exactly the same thing in my labour but was really lucky in that I had a great midwife early on who sat with me and showed me some different relaxation techniques which just enabled me to get enough of a grip on things to stop panicking.

GetHerOffTheBloodyBed · 04/01/2012 13:17

i haven't seen the trailer but why did someone not help the woman to reposition even with CFM? it's that sort of thing that frustrates me hugely because women then expect to be lying flat for CFM when they don't have to be.

off to take some betablockers before 9pm.
and maybe ch4 could do a real time labour and birth sometime. just to balance out the bollocks.

Flisspaps · 04/01/2012 16:32

Getheroff I think the birthing partner says to her 'shall I get someone' when she looked pointedly at the belt, or something along those lines, and she either says no or gives him a Hmm look and he sits back down.

SittingHippo I know - see above comment Grin

Lollyheart · 04/01/2012 16:43

So excited Grin
I'm already broody, dc4 is only 13 weeks Grin

strawberrypenguin · 04/01/2012 16:49

Don't know if I'll watch or not (might catch it on OD instead) but just wanted to say I think it all comes down the MW you have. I had a brilliant MW when I had DS a couple of months ago, I had a CFM on and a drip in both hands and was resigned to not being able to move, however she and my DH helped me to move so i was backwards kneeling on the bed and leaning on the raised back iykwim We moved between this position and laying on my back when she wanted to check on my progress.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/01/2012 20:25

Can't wait!

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/01/2012 20:26

AYC, just have 'Get her off the bloody bed' on your clipboard for any easy 'paste'.
