But where would you draw the line Aitch?

AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 05/12/2011 14:34

what do you mean, zookeeper?

sorry cross posted.

aside from the children being the gamechanger, i think the thing is that the character was fucked if he didn't do it, that he would have been the guy who let a princess die for the want of an hour's humiliation. from my position, i'd lose more respect for him through that than a bit of public pig-fucking. i actually think his wife is BU. I think it is a program for sick people who get sick thrills from this.

hideous

ha I said the same to dh, why is she not speaking to him? That's a bit off.

what do you think the MN response to this as a news story would have been? i reckon the servers would have keeled over from a million of us wanting to get on at the same time.

Report
MarshaBrady · 05/12/2011 14:44

Everyone would be posting, whether they were watching or not.

What about the actors, there were some quite well known ones. Interesting to know how they were told the story.

Report
AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 05/12/2011 14:44

(hence that feeling of implication that Marsha spoke of)

Report
AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 05/12/2011 14:46

exactly, Marsha, it would be an absolute sensation. so would that vindicate the artist as demonstrating how sheep-like and thrill-seeking we are?

Report
AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 05/12/2011 14:46

even if the sensation is moral superiority?

Report
MarshaBrady · 05/12/2011 14:48

I imagine most of mn would be moral superiority. It would be bonding not to watch it. Most would say no way.

limitedperiodonly THANK YOU! I knew I'd read something like this before - Snowball in Hell it was!

Ridiculous, TV at it's worst.
Not to mention the massive, glaringly obvious mistake - No way would a normal man be physically able to have sex with a pig ( or any other animal come to that) , he just wouldn't be able to become physically aroused.

It. would. never. happen.

Report
ElaineReese · 05/12/2011 14:53

They gave him viagra.

Report
Malificence · 05/12/2011 15:01

What's that got to do with it? Confused

Do you mean to tell me that there are people out there so brain dead that they believe that Viagra gives men uncontrollable erections? Hmm

If that was part of the plotline, the researchers/producers should be shot, factually incorrect as well as completely ridiculous.

A man has to be aroused for viagra to have any effect, as with any other ED medication.

The only way he could have been forced into having an erection would be a penile implant.

Report
HeidiKat · 05/12/2011 15:02

Even with viagra though, I thought it didn't just randomly give men an erection, they have to be in circumstances which would arouse them normally?

Report
ElaineReese · 05/12/2011 15:04

I have no idea - but they gave him something to take first, and obviously it did the trick!

I am not an expert on pig-fucking, though, and I don't think it was meant as a how-to manual.

redlac I love Christopher Brookmyre. It took me a while to work out the Glaswegian slang but after that I was away.

I don't blame Charlie Brooker for pinching his wonderful idea and passing it off as his own. Almost Grin

ElderberrySyrup · 05/12/2011 15:07

I think it's reasonable to expect it to be scientifically plausible.

I wondered about the erection thing too. I asked dh if he thought he'd be able to but he refused to answer (which I assumed was because he thought he probably could and didn't want to incriminate himself by admitting it Hmm)

Don't know about all the ins and outs of it malificence but there are documented cases where prisoners have been forced to rape other prisoners including their mothers, sisters, daughters and sons.

Anyway, I'm more interested in Brooker ripping off of Brookmyre's idea because Brooker is a smug little shit IMHO.
