New Masterchef Australia (2011 series??)

Anyone watching this?

Usually I don't watch Masterchef UK but this has me hooked. 14 contestants to go from a "shortlist" of 50. I think the series has finished now but they're showing it on Watch I think 4 times a week.

I can't be the only MNer watching?

Yes, I watched it all here so won't drop any spoilers. Just to say that Dani grated on me too, but I softened up twoards Sun. Also liked Peter a lot. Ellie is a bit of an airhead!

I love it too. It's just the right time for coming back from work and chilling.

Dh thinks I will get withdrawal symptoms once it's done but even he is slightly into it now I note ;-)

In Australia some viewers developed a drinking game; anytime they say "element" of a dish, you have a drink. We also included "hero of the dish".
Big question is who is more irritating, Matt, George or Gary?
I vote George.

Me and DP watched the Masterclass last night - that black sea slug thing - WTF? I mean seriously?

I reckon I've put on 1/2 stone because of this series.

me and DD1 sit and watch it at 8pm (series link) after DD2 has gone to bed so we can watch it in peace lol

Dani has grown on me since she stopped wearing that god awful red lippy!

Just watched last night's episode. Dani has shown over the past few weeks how imaginative she is, well done to her. Nice to see Peter do well too.
Poor Hayden, unusual for him to be so rubbish. Mat needs to go, I don't think he's worthy of the top ten at all.

Mat is too greasy and dirty for a kitchen. Hayden is good but his confidence has been affected. Ellie is ditzy and needs to go home now. Kate is one of my favourites to win.

I just watched tonight's ep. @Foxinsocks, I almost googled 'the shock' to find out....but last time I googled a Mastercgef question I accidentally found out who wins. Grrrrrr.

I'm watching (almost) religiously! I too skip Fridays, but also think it's far superior to the UK version.

I think Kate may win, and was surprised Dani made it through today.

I did the same - Googled to find a recipe for something they were making (the Osso Bucco) only to find out who won Sad

We should start a campaign to have the series on at the same time in UK next year!

What a shock elimination this week, didn't think he'd go but it was the right decision based on what he'd cooked.

So do all the people who didn't mind Dani still feel the same after tonight's episode?

She really showed her true colours and they weren't pretty. Shrieking at Michael when MPW was talking to him, get a grip love! Seriously if you had a top class chef giving a team mate help you'd speak to the rest of the team then update him afterwards.

Hate how far she is going.

Having said that I'm glad Billy is back and old greasy Mat is gone.

How have I missed this thread before??? DP and I LOVE MAsterchef Oz, NZ and UK!!! We do skip Masterclasses tho too and are quite often a few behind due to DP working shifts.

We always pick someone to win and I picked Hayden from the beginning really don't know why ;)

And Masterchef the professionals has started (UK) so it's all a bit of Masterchef overload :o

I do actually quite like Dani despite her extreme annoyingness!!

ah so pleased to have found fellow MC Aus fans! I love this, but also skip the masterclasses. I find Peter vair vair attractive, he is so youthful & boyish looking! (and a great cook).

I do keep wondering what happens to their voiceover person - it is so lovely NOT to have "last time on ..." and "next time on .." and "coming up" all the time - but sometimes they have a voiceover who just pops up from nowhere.

I reckon MC UK could learn some good lessons from the Aussie one, it is sooo much better than our homegrown overblown repetitive amateur one. (John & Greg, I'm looking at you. Enough of the "cooking doesn't get any tougher than this" repeated ad nauseam. And you, voice-over lady. Enough.)
