Is anyone else getting a little bit bored of Russell camping everything up? I mean I know that's his personality, but the 'proper' paso bits he did were actually quite good. If he'd put a bit more effort into looking a bit more 'fierce' instead of all that mucking about with the glasses (wtf? Hmm) he could have done a 'start to finish proper paso' just like is expected of everyone else.

I don't see why he's allowed to make every dance into a comedy take off of the dance it should be.

It particularly annoys me because he does actually have some dancing talent. He had some good paso steps this week and other appropriate steps in other week. I mean, by all means, camp up a samba or a salsa.

But the other celebs are expected to act the emotions required for a dance. We all expect Audley to come across as gentle and light in his feet when in fact he's a lot tougher by nature (I guess). And we expect sports stars etc to have a go at 'acting' the romance of the rhumba.

Rant over anyway Blush

Other than that, I though JG was a bit of a waste of space - really wish they'd had Karen Hardy or another pro who used to be on it. Len's 'speciality' is the technical stuff so they should replace him with someone with similar expertise (in my most humble of opinions -I'm thinking I've got out the grumpy side of bed this morning? Blush)

I agree about Aliona's choreography for Harry too - all about her. He was definitely missing the bounce action though.

Think I'd like to see Audley, Lulu, or even Russell go this week. Preferably Lulu I think because of her 'tries to hard' outfits in the training room. Don't mind Russell hanging around for a couple more weeks, but I'd like to see him try the dances properly (did I mention this at all? Confused)

Actually, I saw something mentioned that Lulu did an 'accidental' rendition of shout - was that last night and if so when?

I watched a lot of it on fast forward as we were late Sad

TheHumancatapult · 06/11/2011 07:20

i really enjoyed it downside if lula goes means Brendan goes and i can watch him dance for hours .

but Artem and P asha are great and really hope they are both in next years as there dances are different and are preaprded to take risks that the others seem to stick with safe .

for me i want pasha and Chelsee to win if not Artem and holly

TheHumancatapult · 06/11/2011 07:21

how do you get tickets for SCD ,would love to go for next years

Biscuitsandtea · 06/11/2011 08:11

Oh my, just found the Lulu 'Shout' bit after her scores with Tess. How contrived was that?

Yep, she can go as far as I'm concerned.

CaveMum · 06/11/2011 08:13

Catapult they open up the tickets in August and you email/phone to apply for them. Obviously they have far more requests than actual tickets so they are allocated by random ballot. I've applied every year since the show started and never got any, but others [glares at Pinot Wink] seem to get lucky!

TheHumancatapult · 06/11/2011 08:33

thank you will do for next year .Wanders of to look at posh frocks*

thenightsky · 06/11/2011 09:20

I applied for every single date and got nothing Sad

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/11/2011 11:12

thenightsky, if you get tickets for a show they notify you three weeks beforehand, so you and I could still get lucky (I applied for all the dates too).

As for the show:

Russell: great arm and hand shaping and why did no one but Bruno comment on that?! Didn't get the bull and glasses thing and would have liked to see more straightforward dancing.
Jason: hated the sex face and occasional bizarre grin. Actual dance was blocky and stop-starty, no sense of the dance moving through his body.
Harry: rubbish.
Lulu: rubbish.
Holly: didn't get the 'concept' and the dance left me cold. Agree with comment upthread that she is vacuous and a bit supercilious. I may be developing a crush on Artem though.
Chelsee: disappointing; the dance never caught fire IMO.
Audley: charming. Love him and he's improved/improving so much. Don't think he's got long left in the contest though. They can fuck off with the over-literal props as well.
Robbie: good footwork but poor performance; could see him concentrating/counting all the way through.
Anita: lovely surprise ? I usually find her dancing a bit stiff and off the beat but thought she was fab this week. Great frock and fantastic song too.
Alex: also a nice surprise ? struggled to keep up occasionally but performed very well and it felt like a proper quickstep.

Jennifer Grey a joke. Couldn't even read her lines properly and clearly had no idea what she was saying most of the time. We're supposed to accept and adore her as some kind of authority because she was in a film decades ago and she won DWTS? What a fucking insult to the audience.

Loved Craig as head judge: 'I'm sorry about that, Brendan.'

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/11/2011 11:31

Bruce Forsyth: genuine living legend

ScatterChasse · 06/11/2011 14:16

Not bad for 83 is he?

mycatsaysach · 06/11/2011 14:26

i thought it was all a bit bleh this week

so so fed up with russell
i must have been watching a diff routine with alex in - thought she was being dragged around floor

Itsjustafleshwound · 06/11/2011 14:55

Every time I see Lulu, I always think of

ObviouslyOblivious · 06/11/2011 17:04

I agree Mycatsaysach - I thought Alex looked like she was on a rollercoaster clinging on for dear life!

Clayhead · 06/11/2011 17:07

My mil got tickets last month - she got an e-mail 10 days before.

TeamDamon · 06/11/2011 17:38

We got tickets to the Live n Deadly roadshow today and only found out last Monday! So don't give up hope yet!

Longtime · 06/11/2011 18:04

I thought they were all a bit meh last night :(

Animation · 06/11/2011 18:05

Always thought Jason was going to have problems with the connection element of dancing. He's overly concerned about audience reaction - and cannot resist looking for it. Needs to pay attention to his partner or he won't last long.

CeliaFate · 06/11/2011 18:36

Jason and Kristina seem to have no emotional connection imho. They never look at each other after the dance.
BTW I can't find the digital spy spoiler. Is it there?

TheHumancatapult · 06/11/2011 19:09

Yes there's a digtal spy spoiler I confes I stay up to check it out am to inpatient to wait till Sunday nights as us about 9pm before can watch

ScatterChasse · 06/11/2011 19:33

Pan · 06/11/2011 19:35

Artem is being replaced by a pro. What to do exactly? Hold Holly by the waist. They didn't ask me.Sad

fivegomadindorset · 06/11/2011 19:36

I love Russell.

I also confess to following Digital Spy.

Google Digital spy strictly spoiler thread.

CaveMum · 06/11/2011 19:40

I'm here! Did I miss something? Is Artem being replaced? Permanently or just for a week or so? Didn't they bring Ian in when Brendan's dad died?

RosalindFranklinsNobelPrize · 06/11/2011 19:41

Pan · 06/11/2011 19:41
