Starts tomorrow night at 10pm in case you didn't already know!

And the last episode of Season 1 is on before in case you need to remember what happened

OP posts:
somewherewest · 01/11/2011 10:53

I stupidly looked at the Walking Dead Facebook page and now know what Shane does in the third episode. Damn!

Emma I find the characterisation reasonably convincing. Events are rapidly bringing out the best and worst in characters (ie Daryl maturing in some ways). Shane's character is really interesting...capable of atruism but also with a very definite dark side.

anonacfr · 01/11/2011 11:09

Can someone tell me about the TV thing????

Eggrules · 01/11/2011 11:35

Doh - I just liked the FB page and came across a pic that is a definite spolier. I wish I had read somewherewest's post properly.

Melty · 01/11/2011 12:58

Anon, have pm'd you

bilblio · 01/11/2011 13:20

Hi, I haven't posted on this thread yet, I did with last season though.
I was just trying to decide between a nap while DS naps, or episode 3... I think I may have to watch episode 3... however I've just had a bowl of tomato soup so I may regret that decision. :)

countessbabycham · 01/11/2011 14:29

Seen it.Seen it.Seen Ep 3.

Double OMG.

Melty did the same snigger at exactly the same place as you.

Pumpkin I also agree that Daryl and Andrea will get it on.

Lori really ,I mean really, annoys me.

bilblio hope you went with Ep 3 - it's what nap times are for!

I saw an interview with the actor who plays Daryl where he ruled out a love interest for the foreseeable. Maybe Andrea and Shane?

PS Am spending waaaayyy too much time analysing this show. Am 36 weeks pregnant and totally immobile so feck all else to do Grin

anonacfr · 01/11/2011 20:35

OK all set up and ready to go once I've finished nursing zombie DD.

Dim lights, a bag of strawberry lances... Episode 3 (HD) here we go!

countessbabycham · 01/11/2011 21:31

Hope you enjoyed it anon!!

Melty · 01/11/2011 21:33

Oh its really frustrating wanting to discuss the all happenings. (That'll teach me to be one ep ahead!)
There are 13 episodes this season. Am desperate to find out what happens next.

This is why I like to watch it all in one go.
I saw episode 6 of season 1 first. Then watched all of eps 1-5 back to back one sunday.

Hurry up Friday!
I know about some stuff that has happened in the graphic comics that is different to where we are now. But what might be happening certainly sounds compelling. I like that they keep us on our toes. And it keeps people like me who find it difficult to stay away from spoilers interested.

countessbabycham · 01/11/2011 21:37

Melty I agree,I am burdened with knowledge and awaiting my next fix!

Melty · 01/11/2011 21:46

It makes me wonder sometimes.
Suppose bad things happened?
I mean first of all we have to fight against the Zombies, then we fight for survival.
It becomes look after yourself, primal instinct is to put yourself first.

Would you stay searching for a child? (Someone elses, I mean? It would go without saying that you wouldn't give up on your own. Unless you are Carol sitting and weeping helplessly.)

Would you go up against Zombies to get some equipment to save another child who may well not survive the operation, and if he does will still have all the other post op risks, without the benefit of IV antibiotics, or a paediatric surgeon (I mean Herschel is nice but he's a Vet) ? -Even if you didnt feel guilty for shooting him/shagging your best friends wife-delete as applicable.

I think everyone would find it difficult.

I read Alex Scarow's books: Last Light and Afterlight, set in a world (ours)where oil runs out, and the world and humanity changes as a result. Its quite a good read on human nature and the way different people respond in a crisis.
Depressed me and lifted me up in equal measure. Bit scary really, because I could see it all unfolding the way he wrote it.

anonacfr · 01/11/2011 21:55

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

That was brutal.

In other (non spoilery) news Darryl continues to be the best character. Level headed, kind (in his own rednecky way) and the only guy who doesn't feel he has the right to tell women what to do just because they have vaginas.

Anyone wants to discuss this further please PM me.

susiedaisy · 01/11/2011 22:01

13 episodes GrinGrinGrinyippee!

susiedaisy · 01/11/2011 22:02

Melty- the Alex scarows book sounds interesting.

countessbabycham · 01/11/2011 22:06

Hee hee .Liked it then anon?

Melty yes it kind of amazes me the lengths they'll go to to save one life when the odds are so far against them.

Trust me everyone,if it came to me saving my bacon or being the hero,I'd be legging it as fast as my chubby little legs would carry me.....Don't rely on me to get your antibiotics!

Melty I have 'Afterlight' on my library book pile waiting to read....

anonacfr · 01/11/2011 22:09

I thought it was a little slow in the sense that Carl annoys me so him being on the brink of death didn't engage me in the way it should.

The rest was v good though.

bilblio · 01/11/2011 22:12

Eww!

Just finished watching episode 3. DS is only 18 days old so our nap times are usually shared. The marathon evening cluster is perfect for TV. Hopefully he's too young to be warped by it... watching Deadwood while DD was a baby didn't harm her... she's not sworn yet anyway :o

It did seem like the girl had been forgotten, but these 2 episodes have taken place over 2? days, the first of which they were all out looking for her.

Melty · 01/11/2011 22:32

Countess, read Last Light First.
I read them the wong way round, didnt take away from the story really, but i think it would have flowed better.

Twas brutal, wasn't it. Did your dinner/strawberry laces stay down? Grin

anonacfr · 01/11/2011 23:08

Just about... Grin

Btw if anyone else is a TV nerd I recommend the twop.com (television without pity). They do hilarious recaps and the episode commentaries on the forums are great. Here is a classic sample

Unless it turns out that the deer is Snape's patronus leading Daryl to smarter people, I just don't care...

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2011 23:21

melty that goes striaght over my blonde head Grin

Melty · 01/11/2011 23:25

I used to read the recaps, but the recapper on True Blood ruined it for me. Mucho pseudo-intellectual claptrap, very "I am a writer" stuff.

I Read a few of S1 and then went on to enjoy it without reading the recaps.
I dip in and out of the forums though. Just to see if other people are thinking what I am thinking.
In my head I'm going I KNOOOW! Grin
