Bloody mum rang to ask me about how much Internet she can use before it's full. Don't ask.

Why did bates have to leave?? Aaargh missed crucial bit!

The kind of oral joy I meant was him as the lucky recipient of a variety of fun stuff he'd taught lady M, rimming included while he - stand by blushes - rubbed himself off on the bed. He acts like he's had a lot of experience. I thought maybe he's enjoying debauching the snobby daughter of the aristos who look down on him???

Like Valmont and Cecile de Voslanges.

PortBlackSandWitchIsThere · 22/09/2011 20:11

Valmont

Georgimama · 22/09/2011 20:26

I once played Cecile de Volanges on stage.

LeBOF · 22/09/2011 20:34

And was your rimming well-reviewed?

Georgimama · 22/09/2011 20:35

There was a sudden blackout of the stage lights at the critical moment.

LeBOF · 22/09/2011 20:41

And I'm sure you were careful not to piss off whoever worked the lights Grin

harrietthespook · 23/09/2011 10:37

See, I have this theory about Pamuk that he was really RUBBISH in bed and that he had to pray on virgins because anyone with any context would have realised how crap he was. And frankly not gone for the: "You'd better shag me or I'll destroy your reputation" routine. Honestly - what is wrong with Mary pining for that tosser. (Poss quite li8terally as others have noted....)

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 23/09/2011 10:52

I don't think she is pining for Pamuk, he wasn't even that attractive.
I stand by my botty sex theory which I will be able to prove this evening when DH arrives with the goods.
I do think your argument/theory has merit though harriet.

anonacfr · 23/09/2011 11:21

You guys are pervs... Grin

Mary is clearly not pining for Pamuk. Wasn't their sexual encounter not that consensual?

And Bates has gone from sweet and noble to creepy and weird. The way he called his ex a bitch and the fact that he nearly hit her was chilling. Sadly I'm sure that's not the last we've seen of him but Anna is so much better off without him.
And he looks like he'd be crap in bed as well.

diddl · 23/09/2011 11:25

I don´t think she´s pining for Pamuk, but iifc, she made a bit of a meal of it & hinted at feelings for him?

LeBOF · 23/09/2011 11:29

Bates is a bit if a wet lettuce, I agree. The way he nobly stalks off to protect everybody's honour is getting a bit tedious.

anonacfr · 23/09/2011 11:36

Maybe she was trying to convince herself so that she wouldn't feel cheap for giving in to him? She clearly fancied him but wasn't expecting him to just show up in her room. Things definitely went further than she would have wanted I think. I mean there's no way she could have married him?

SheWhoMustNotBeFlamed · 23/09/2011 11:36

Limps off

anonacfr · 23/09/2011 11:40
Grin

Even that effing limp is starting to piss me off.

I liked him when he was bullied last year. Having seen him with his wife I now think he's a seriously passive aggressive bully. Run away Anna!

harrietthespook · 23/09/2011 11:41

No no no you're right.

Sghe's not pining for him NOW true. But she did do a bit of tearing afterwards. "He was so beautiful" malarky. "My LOVER Kamal Pamuk." That sort of thing. I couldn't grasp any of that.

Do you know iniitally I thought she felt guilty cause she bumped him off ...

harrietthespook · 23/09/2011 11:43

I don't the BATES SHAGGABLE thing at all. What is with that. I agree Anna could do much better. But I do feel sorry for him now. ALthough Vera is an interesting character.

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 23/09/2011 11:46

The only one I find remotely shaggable is Terrible Thomas and he is gay. I would possibly give Carson a go, but quite likely not.

anonacfr · 23/09/2011 11:55

Well he was rather attractive. Maybe she was going on about her lover because it sounded nicer than 'the guy who barged into my room, took me up the arse and died on top of me'?

ScatterChasse · 23/09/2011 12:02

See, I can't understand why she didn't just say 'yes' when Cora asked if he'd forced himself upon her. Even if it wasn't quite true (and tbh, I don't think she ever thought he'd just appear in her room) he couldn't exactly defend himself could he?

And then it could just have been passed off with him as an attacker and Mary as the victim. And he was dead, his reputation wasn't really the problem.

Longtime · 23/09/2011 12:25

I totally agree ScatterChasse but I guess the plot needs somewhere to go :)

LeBOF · 23/09/2011 12:25

Anonacfr Grin

daenerysstormborn · 23/09/2011 12:31

dh is painting a portrait of julian fellowes's son, will get him to ask if it was front door, back door access etc Wink. bet he says it was just straight sex and everyone on mn just has a dirty mind Grin

diddl · 23/09/2011 12:35

But it would always have been her faul, wouldn´t it?

As a gentleman he wouldn´t have gone to the room of his host´s daughter without an invitation?

Isn´t that more or less how ir would have been viewed?

You would think she would have told her mother the truth, though.

MamaMary · 23/09/2011 12:59

Agree that Bates is less attractive this series. He wasn't nearly enough passionate about Anna - he seems half-hearted and a bit of a wet fish.

Matthew is nice though Grin

WhipMeIndiana · 23/09/2011 15:13

ok. few points
front door/ back door access makes me laugh. It should be middle door/ back door surely?
Thomas is lovely and shaggable. think he's possibly bisexual.
matthew is delicious. love his gentle smoky voice.

Obrien still looks a bit pale, hope she is reliving the soap incident in her mean head over and over again.
he attempts at stirring trouble for lady sybil to work as a nurse didnt come to much? cora looked upset for a sec, then didnt do anything...
