I think they have taken "liberties" with the original book from the sound of things...

thecattleareALOHing · 13/12/2005 10:20

Can you imagine her posting on MN - found this bloke going through my diary, dumped him, now he's marrying my sister, hitting her and throwing away my clothes...

sevensuzyswongsaswimming · 13/12/2005 10:20

God, I haven't seen that one for a long time. It was quite a clean drop IYSWIM, not much friction from the loo paper required, and it's nearly bathtime anyway

Well she doesnt' die in the book

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:21

And how we'd all struggle to say something polite, and constructive, and not at all WTFish... aloha.

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:22

Thank you Suze, Perth Excrement Correspondant par excellence!

yoyo · 13/12/2005 10:24

Would you let them continue to live with you when he has just revealed that you slept with your sister's boyfriend? The whole thing is nonsensical whimsy.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 13/12/2005 10:25

you may well be right Marina
I fear my critical faculties may well be fatally clouded by the fact that I fancy the bony a**e off him

puddle · 13/12/2005 10:26

I find D Tennant a bit....weedy.

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:28

I can see why harpsi, he's just not my kind of guy. For top TV entertainment I like sandy-haired scoundrels like Daniel Craig and Damian Lewis

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:29

pre-cisely puddle. He's just too juve-looking. You feel like asking him if his mummy knows he is out annoying grown women...

acnebride · 13/12/2005 10:33

really enjoyed it so now feel like intellectual pygmy - agree re advice of bf though

am loving claire goose in everything atm, she is on t top of her game

which character in perfect day was played by the woman doing miranda then?

am perfect viewer, one change of wig and i have no idea who it is

puddle · 13/12/2005 10:37

With you Marina on Damien Lewis. Rufus Sewell also, post those Shakespeare things on bbc.

Must be age - DT would certainly have floated my boat 15 years ago but now think I'd snap him....

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:59

Acnebride - the fussy matron of honour Jenny whose marriage turned out to be in tatters.
Kate Ashfield is an excellent actress so it's not just the ludicrous toupee, don't feel you missed something obvious. She is genuinely unrecognisable.

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 11:00

Snort puddle I know Stop acting so winsome sonny or I will sit on your lap and squash you to death...

Mistletoo · 13/12/2005 11:09

I got a quick glimpse of something here but have not fully read - are you telling us the plot here/

Irritating it may be but I'm still watching!

OP posts:
acnebride · 13/12/2005 11:33

really, good grief, entirely different face imo

ah yes, annoyed/mystified stare into distance does ring bells.

now really looking forward to part 2!

PeachyPlumFairy · 13/12/2005 12:37

Marina,

I saw him in Look back In Anger at Bath earlier this year- he was fab in that and I think it's a hard part. he can act, although I do think this was rather annoying (but will watch later anyhow).

TurqtheHeraldAngelsSing · 13/12/2005 13:48

My god Acnebride I am right there with you in intellectual pygmy world - I was loving it and totally oblivious that she was also in the previous night's Claire Goose thing
I missed the ending of that one - can anyone tell me if the it all ended happilly ever after?
David Tennant - weedy and creepy IMO and not my idea of a Dr Who.

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 14:04

Turq, the rather nice Perfect Day was my veg telly of the week.
Grumpy bridesmaid Kate ended up - ahem - getting it all out of her system in the woods with the rather shifty chap from college who turned out not to have had a shag for two years either because he'd been in prison for fraud - and they seemed to be hitting it off rather well in the end!
Claire and beardyman did patch it up and managed a dance in their finery at the reception before going off to tie the knot asap at the nearest reg office.
And really ugly commitment-phobe was lucky enough to get back with Rachel, although from the way she was flinging herself round the dance-floor I think they may deserve each other.
Jenny and her hubby also managed a last dance although they were heading for a permanent split
Oh, and beardyman's mum called his miserable dad a pr*ick, long overdue
That do you?

tuppenceworth · 13/12/2005 14:06

David Tennant mmmmmmmmmmm

TurqtheHeraldAngelsSing · 13/12/2005 14:12

Thanks Marina.
V glad about the "miserable pr*ck" part

Epiffany · 13/12/2005 14:49

I'm confused as I don't remember her dying either - Miranda that is, I think her mate cops the farm though and/or her sister...
Its all gone hazy actually went down to bookshop in town to try and find it but its sold out
.

dropinthemanger · 13/12/2005 15:03

PARP! I meant to watch this as has been advertised for the last 2 weeks and I bloody missed it!

tuppenceworth · 13/12/2005 15:32

If you have digital you'll probably be able to catch it again on ITV3 or 4 pretty soon.

potatolegs · 13/12/2005 21:07

god its only been on 2 minutes and its annoying me already!
