I am watching too.

Have worked in a high cat prison in the past so finding this quite interesting.

Foxinthewoods · 09/05/2011 21:26

just flicked over, what was the woman they were watching on cctv doing?

porkscratchings · 09/05/2011 21:38

I think Kelly is amazingly strong and really likeable, just so sad that some people just make desperate decisions rather than being genuinely 'bad'.

atswimtwolengths · 09/05/2011 21:39

But why WHY get married to someone who's in prison? He says he's doing it for her security! And how's she going to feel when she comes home on her own?

On a different note, do you think it's fair to the children to show them?

SalmonPinkCanary · 09/05/2011 21:49

15 years!! Wow

atswimtwolengths · 09/05/2011 21:50

Is that what he got? I missed it. Was he the driver in a drug run? Haven't been listening enough!

porkscratchings · 09/05/2011 21:50

They've been together for 8 years and got 4 kids, so she isn't rushing into it! She says it's for family as much as anything.

I used to be part of a team that ran a creche in the visiting room of a cat A prison (experimental and v forward thinking) sadly some kids will think it's normal, others will realise that it's not a path they want to follow.
Still their dad, they need to see him

porkscratchings · 09/05/2011 21:52

half a million £ drug run!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/05/2011 21:52

Kelly is pretty gutsy - she got him to give himself up.

OP posts:
SalmonPinkCanary · 09/05/2011 21:53

at yes, he got 15 years for driving a van (he did 3 trips for them apparently).

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/05/2011 21:53

Why does the drugs man have to wear special clothes and lock them in a case ?

OP posts:
Hulababy · 09/05/2011 21:55

Think he was a flight risk. Also was on remand, not sentenced. May be less so now he is sentenced properly.

Where I worked we hd two very notorious prisoners who wore special clothes, dfferent to the rest - so they were very easy identifiable as such serious prisoners.

SalmonPinkCanary · 09/05/2011 21:56

Bless his parents.

atswimtwolengths · 09/05/2011 21:57

This drug runner, he doesn't seem to have understood that he might have got caught, does he? All upset that he might not see his parents outside, but then he could've thought of that before, couldn't he?

porkscratchings · 09/05/2011 21:58

brilliant

SalmonPinkCanary · 09/05/2011 21:59

at I couldn't decide whether he didn't understand or whether he actually knew exactly what he was doing but had to keep to his story for the camera. Dunno

Whatever the case, I feel for his kids.

porkscratchings · 09/05/2011 21:59

I meant that was brillant!

Drug runner was calm to the point of arrogant? Can't work him out

NotaMopsa · 09/05/2011 21:59

what channel please?

Hulababy · 09/05/2011 22:00

So many of the parents used to seem so normal, and you just wonder what they must be feeling - they must be thinking how on on earth their life got to this. We had a lot oof lifer young offenders, so they were under 21y. Some seemed so young at just 17 and 18y and ther parents got to spend quite a while with them one day every so often, having a meal with them, etc. But it all looked so unreal.

SalmonPinkCanary · 09/05/2011 22:01

Hula, I agree, it must be surreal and very sad.

tiredemma · 09/05/2011 22:03

visiting my brother in prison was the most depressing episode of my life. I would walk away sobbing. My dad is such a wonderful, honest hard working man and it broke his heart to have to visit his son inside.

I felt very sad for that self harming lad (age 29??) who had no family. So sad.

tegan · 13/05/2011 11:38

Quite alot of it seemed very staged. In such a high risk prison as strangeways like when the men dragged that one in the showers beford his wedding, surely that alone would be a security risk, anyone of them could of had the intention to stab him, the guards would never let that kind of thing happen in a high risk prison.

Hulababy · 13/05/2011 23:23

But that wasn't a super security wing. The men are not in isolation or segregation. They do have social times all together when cell doors are all open and all the men on the wing can walk around taling, take their shower, play pool. etc.

IME it did not look staged at all.

Nothing occured that I have not known occur in the prison I was working at.

Hulababy · 16/05/2011 21:04

Anyone still watching tonight?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/05/2011 21:12

Yes. I am in awe of the staff. And feel sad for some of the prisoners.
