Has he been planning this episode for a very long time?

Sounds like the gamma forests may be appearing at some point...

By the way which episode was the Cockney girl from? I didn't remember her.

Rewatching. Initial scene when Rory & River meet. River doesn't know Rory. She has met him. She looks at him in awe

Well I have only just seen it as we were out last night, and I agree that scene with Rory and River was interesting.

Maybe she is wondering if he "knows" yet and is waiting to see what he will say?

I think HarrietJones is saying River has never met Rory before that point, ergo he was not in her life as a child. Read from that what you will...

Rory goes to collect River. ' do you know me?' 'we've met' then she comes in shot & looks at him as if it was the first time. It was early River.(talking about her birthday?)

Could it be that River could not help "save" baby Melody simply because she already knew they failed? ie it wasn't that she physically couldn't be there but that she emotionally couldn't.

Could the Doctor who was killed in the first episode be a Flesh copy, not the real one? .have not read the whole thread!

I think she couldn't save Melody because she had already created a narrative prior to Melody's birth (due to being timeywimey/TimeLady) and saving Melody would have meant River didn't become River and would have messed up the past, which you aren't allowed to do.

The dead doctor could be a flesh copy, but we are led to believe the flesh doctor exploded in the castle. If he didn't explode then he had to have lived for 200 years after this happened. Having two doctors for 200 years would be a bit much...unless the age he gave was a lie/mistake.

Hi. Can i join? Loved last episode - in fact all of this season has been superb (apart from the pirate one which I hated).

I particulary loved Rory as a Roman again. Why did he dress up as a Roman...who cares!

Why are people assuming that its the Dr's skeleton in the trailer? River also has a sonic...(she died in the Forest of the Dead.. but can/did she she regenerate?)

Also is the little girl who regenerated at the end of "Day of the Moon", River?It could be the Dr's & River's baby. (A bit of a leap but you never know). Lots of clues in this episode/confidential about "not being the only baby to sleep in the cot". Also River was feeling "Sick" at the same time Amy was in the "Impossible Astronaut".

That's a good point about the little girl being Doctor and River's baby. Melody was only in the cot for five minutes - maybe the writing spelled out 'Child of Doctor and River's name' and he realised who she was? Or something.

I think that the doctor isn't able to save River as a baby but does so when she is a young woman - she has said that he fell out of the sky and swept her off her feet or something like that. So Rory may have died by the time she is reunited with Amy. Has someone already said that - this thread is epic.

If Rory and Amy don't get some time with their baby I will be in a huge, huge grump!

You know when Rory got killed in the forest episode and wiped from history and amy forgot him? Well why in that case did River not disappear from history? She didn't because she was there at the end of that episode and then at the Pandorica before Rory reappeared. I don't get that? Please say the answer isn't 'timey-wimey stuff!'

That flesh doctor died at the monastery. I guess there is no reason there wasn't either more than one or another copy later. Clearly the Flesh is out in the universe as Amy wasn't created at the monastery. The two-doctors-for-200-years is no less likely than the fact that the doctor who was killed was this regeneration having lasted for 200 years. I wonder when this will become clear... this series or a later one?

Assuming that Amy was kidnapped and replaced by the flesh in the USA sixties it's definately feasible that the shot doctor was also flesh - but flesh wouldn't have shown signs of regeneration like the shot doctor would it?

Just before the flesh Doctor dies, the real Doctor says, as he tosses the sonic screwdriver to him "Your molecular memory can survive this, you know. It may not be the end" - so does the Flesh Doctor's molecular memory get saved in the sonic & he is recreated later on?

Thinking about River feeling sick at the same time as Amy, maybe that is supposed to show that they are linked, somehow? Sort of because Amy felt sick so did River as she is the baby?

Northernlurker - presumably because River was the child of the 'revived' Rory - at the time Rory was removed from history, River hadn't been conceived. So the Rory who was her father was never removed from history, so it didn't affect her.
