What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

so if Amy could read her daughter's name on the little fabric embroidery thingy then shouldn't she then be able to read the Doctor's real name from the side of the cot?

I'm still finding it upsetting though I didn't cry is the having a baby and then it's gone. If someone could tell me she gets her baby back as a baby then I could cope but losing a baby even if you do meet them as a grown up is the stuff of nightmares

JuicyLips · 05/06/2011 11:37

Im sure I've seen it somewhere other than here too Reality

fuzzywuzzy · 05/06/2011 11:39

Tigerfeet, Amy couldnt read the Rivers name o nthe side of the cradle as it was in Gallafrey and that doesnt translate (according to River Song), she read the emboridered cloth which was in a different language

AitchTwoOh · 05/06/2011 11:45

it was in the sunday times, apparently. hmmmph.

RustyBear · 05/06/2011 11:49

TigerFeet - Amy did look at the writing on the cot first, but River said - 'Gallifreyan doesn't translate' Of course, there wouldn't normally be a need for a TARDIS to be programmed to translate Gallifreyan, as the Time Lords were meant to be the only people who used a TARDIS.

Though I would think the TARDIS is clever enough to work out how to translate it by herself, so maybe she (or the Doctor) just wants to keep some things private....

EricNorthmansMistress · 05/06/2011 12:28

So River couldn't go to help the Doctor to recover baby Melody as if she had, she would have disrupted the events that led to her becoming River Song - right? If they had rescued Melody then the entire future/past of River would have been different, thereby changing the Doctor's, Amy's and Rory's, and everyone else's past and future.

Why were the soldiers so scared of the Doctor? Why did River blame him for this?

Dylthan · 05/06/2011 12:59

Blush I'm so sorry.

I read it in a magazine somewhere with an interview that Karen Gillian had given. I assumed it was public knowledge and therefore up for discussion (in reality I never assumed the reveal would be that easy to guess)

Once again I'm really really sorry.

JuicyLips · 05/06/2011 13:10

dont worry Dylthan, easy thing to do. it really wasnt a very revealing reveal anyway. Loved watching it though.

AitchTwoOh · 05/06/2011 13:19

no no no, i don't mean you dylthan, not at all. i am just wondering if it was an official reveal or a slip. given the amount of 'ooohooo it's a secret' on confidential it seems just so DUMB to have revealed the name in advance.

JuicyLips · 05/06/2011 13:31

it must be hard to keep it a secret though, it only needs to be someone with a small job to accidentally slip up and its through. If that makes sense.

CalamityKate · 05/06/2011 13:35

I assume that River couldn't turn up until the baby was out of the way because it's somehow (maybe) impossible/dangerous for two versions of oneself to exist at the same time? Or at least be in close proximity to each other?

fiderer · 05/06/2011 14:14

I always thought that but Amy and little Amy were together in the Pandorica episode and the world didn't implode and nothing scary happened to them.
Loved it but am still wondering "Heh?"

CalamityKate · 05/06/2011 14:25

Oh yeah - I'd forgotten about that fiderer !

I'm talking rubbish then, clearly Grin

JuicyLips · 05/06/2011 14:36

seems like there are some inconsistencies there then.

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 05/06/2011 15:17

I think Lorna will be in it again as the Doctor hadn't met her yet, so will meet her in a future episode.

maybe Lorna is a younger River, maybe River couldn't show up until after Lorna supposedly died as she didn't want the Doctor to know who Lorna was before he meets her! Seems a bit lame though. Or maybe Lorna knows River, i do think River stayed away cos of Lorna and not Melody.

fiderer · 05/06/2011 15:42

Bloody hell Bats -didn't your head explode typing that?

coastgirl · 05/06/2011 15:55

I liked it when the Sontaran was talking to Rory and he said "I am a warrior who has become a nurse" - because of course for Rory it's the other way round. I think he still will have a big role to play in the second half of the series.

JuicyLips · 05/06/2011 16:03

I liked it when the dr was talking to melody saying something like "you really should call her mummy instead of the 'big milky thing' "

PinotGrigiosKittens · 05/06/2011 16:05

YY and to his bowtie "No it's not, it's cool" Wink

PinotGrigiosKittens · 05/06/2011 16:10

OK so Lorna is a Scottish name, derived from Lorne meaning fox.

That doesn't help at all does it Confused

For some reason I thought Lorna was being lined up to play his next assistant.
