What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

"Danny Boy' as a call sign for the Spitfires attacking Demons Run is from "Victory For the Daleks"; but they got it from the classic war movie "Where Eagles Dare" where the phrase "Broadsword calling Danny Boy" is used a number of times.

DH uses it all the time. Sigh.

I've officially reached saddo status, i've just spent last few hours trawling you tube for old episodes with river in... currently trying to find Time of Angels episode as i read somewhere (maybe here?!) that when River first meets Amy she calls her mum... want to see if that's true. May have to go out and buy the box sets!!

For all those being confused about the whole "Can't you read?" line with the cot, surely River was referring to the prayer leaf? With her name on it? Which was IN, not ON the cot? The side probably just has the Doctor's real name on.

I was massively disappointed with the whole Melody Pond/River Song business. I thought it was handled clumsily, with cheesy writing and was just too obvious. Would have been much better if River had turned out to be someone else entirely, plus they'd have got more story mileage out of baby Melody. Who was adorable.

Stephen Moffat tweeted two days ago "yes you will find out who River Song is tomorrow night. BUT is that the question you really want answered"?

I already guessed River was Amy's baby. Now I am puzzled about who I should be questioning.

I think Rory dies - there has been an interview with Arthur Darvill where he inadvertently outed this by saying something along the lines of "now I've finished that role".

I also would not be surprised if Amt turns out not to have had a baby in the end. Or do they have the wrong doctor aboard after the episode last week.

Loved Rory and the Cybermen last night, "where is my wife"? And all the ships being destroyed in the background - "do you want me to repeat the question"? Fabulous stuff.

The Doctor even asked it "who was she" after she died.

Dilly do you mean Lorna? I think you're right and that there's possibly more to her than meets the eye. But that said she served a few purposes in that episode so maybe that's all she's needed for....

And Patricia Thank you! The Victory of the Daleks was an episode I saw but was also trying to feed a grumpy three week old at the time so didn't take much in except that I thought the iDaleks were crap.

I think we will see Lorna again, she said she had already met the Dr once before.

I still think Lorna is also River. River said she met the Dr when she was young and that meeting a man like that at a young age had turned her head. As I said up thread, they may have changed River's name to hide her in the Forest and we know she is part Time Lord so can regenerate in some capacity, perhaps just healing herself rather than changing into a different person.

What was that line in a previous week about a "river in a forest"? And Lorna and River both talked about some forest in that episode.

I understand the writing on the cot!!!!

In silence in the library River lets the doctor know that one day he will trust her completely by whispering his name (I presume like real name rather that title) so maybe that's what the point of the cot is. Ten also said that there was only one way that she could know his name but when he said it it sounded like it would be a bit more than reading it off the side of his cot.

Ok maybe it's not quite as clear as I thought at the enthusiastic start of this post.

I'm new to this thread. Guessed the River Song identity a few weeks back but what i want to know is who shot the Doctor (clearly someone who knows him) and which Doctor was it?

...and why is river in jail, what was her exact crime? i always had the idea it was for trying to kill the Doctor??

She killed 'a good man' which could be taken to be the Doctor or more recently Rory.

who leaked melody pond, btw? that rather spoiled the reveal. i mean it didn't, because it's a great reveal and all credit to the moff etc etc but it would have been nice to watch it with some doubt in mind, rather than just thinking oh well, melody pond = river song. so whoever leaked that is a jobbie, imo.

I think people were just guessing, I had certainly thought that it would turn out to be River. We've met very few different characters this series and I dont think they'd make it someone completely random, that would've made no sense.
