What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

marking my place for saturday (squee!) and casually mentioning that i saw ten and la tate in 'much ado about nothing' last night and it was glorious! :)

i'm still determined that River Song is the Rani....rani being an anagram of 'rain' and all the water names that abound at present - but i love Amys daughter being called melody. :)

and a bit Hmm that we find out who River is. the trailer says 'this is the day the doctor finds out who i am..' doesn't mean we will...

HarrietJones · 02/06/2011 10:50

Nooooooo don't say that!

teej · 02/06/2011 11:12

Snapespeare did you take any DC's with you to Much Ado? I mentioned this in the Culture Vultures thread - that I thought they would tone it down assuming they would get a younger "Dr Who" audience but it was quite the opposite.... loved it in general but there were just several aspects I thought they really could have done without!!!! thought the hero mask at the ball and wedding dress was hilarious...

back to this saturday - apparently the river reveal is only at the end of the episode so we'll be waiting a while....

do we think it's possible she's his jailer? say there is a mega battle and the doctor is defeated. he is then locked up in the stormcage, where river works. as she gets to know the doctor, she kills someone so the doctor can escape and then effectively follows him through space and time while imprisoned herself for her crime? that would explain how she finds it so easy to escape (she knows it so well) and there was that comment in Pandorica Opens when she was in Amy's room, along the lines of "Oh doctor, sometimes I wonder why I ever let you out..."

i just don't want her to be amy and rory's daughter, that's too soapy. likewise balloon i agree that it would be too soapy for Amy to be pregnant by the doctor, but some mad baddie might not see it that way...

teej · 02/06/2011 12:26

Right - just posted this in the spoiler thread but i know many people will be avoiding that one so am reposting here!

OMG - has anyone clicked on the Dr Who page of the BBC website today? As soon as you go the page, there is an audio of Alex Kingston in character reciting a cryptic poem about the events of ep7. Sent shivers down my spine and made me a bit sad to be honest
Am stupidly excited about this one....

Snapespeare · 02/06/2011 19:24

home with a new DW magazine! yay! :)

Teej, took 15 year old DD, so no blushes and i think my 13 yo DS1 would have been fine with the hen/stag parties and margarets disco encounter. there were slightly smaller children there. i thought it was a lovely, warm production - lots of fun, it is after all a comedy...i thought tate lacked depth a little, but i'm generaly happy with her & the bits where bea & benedick are tricked wewre lovely!

sorry! shall have to go to culture vutures and have a good chin wag about it. do throughly reccomend it - especially with £10 lottery tickets or standing for £16. a treat!

on the bbc site and trying to transcribe the poem so we can pick it to pieces...

Snapespeare · 02/06/2011 19:28

demons run when a good man goes to war
night will fall and drown the sun when a good man goes to war.
friendship dies and true loves lies,
night will fall and the dark will rise,
when a good man goes to war.

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 03/06/2011 21:34

I'm getting stupidly excited about tomorrows Dr Who... are we really going to find out who River Sing is!?

Arcadie · 03/06/2011 21:36

I am LOVING the Melody Pond / River Song possibilities.

For goodness sake - they made Captain Jack and the Face of Bo work out to be the same person - they could certainly do Melody & River!

And snapespeare Not a clue what that poem's about but I feel GCSE English Lit skills may be required!

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 03/06/2011 22:05

is the Doctor going to war and it's going to get dark?! Grin
friendships dies - something to do with amy?
true love lies - River?

that's as far as my brain can go. someone needs to enlist their teenager studying English Lit!

I like the whole Melody Pond / River Song theory too and i think it makes sense. I also think River could be the astronaut when she was a kid... but the little girl regenerated, which confuses me, but then River could be time lord maybe somehow.... oh brain hurts roll on tomorrow!

ScatterChasse · 03/06/2011 22:49

drown - the astronaut came out of the water (?)

Friendship dies - but is it the friend dying, or just the relationship?

True love lies - Amy/Rory, Doctor/Amy (?), River/Doctor

Well I've clearly been helpful there Grin

But I'm not sure River can be the astronaut girl, as she'd have been around/meeting herself, which I didn't think was allowed

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 03/06/2011 23:00

Have they ever said you can't see / meet yourself? (genuine question as don't know) I know in Back to the Future Marty was told not to let meet himself wasn't he so is that just a known thing not to do with all time travel? Blush

ScatterChasse · 03/06/2011 23:14

I'm not sure specifically, but surely than you'd get all sorts of interesting paradoxes...

and could the Doctor not have met himself at the picnic then and told himself what was going to happen.

I really don't know. This series is confusing me so much!

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 03/06/2011 23:18

me too, I don't remember Dr Who being so complicated when i was a kid, it was simply scary monsters chasing and trying to kill him!

Northernlurker · 03/06/2011 23:20

The Doctor isn't a man. He's a time lord. Rory is the good man.

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 03/06/2011 23:20

Oh good point!

confuddledDOTcom · 04/06/2011 01:28

Rose and Chris E met themselves and it was a problem. Incarnations though is a myth the doctor likes to say because he doesn't like doing it.

Dylthan · 04/06/2011 07:04

In the Christmas special didn't the old man meet and talk to himself as a boy?

RustyBear · 04/06/2011 10:18

Interesting stuff here about the Blinovitch Limitation Effect.

Make of it what you will.....

Dylthan · 04/06/2011 10:42

That is interesting rustybear so going by what is said there river could meet her younger self just not touch her hmm.

QBEE · 04/06/2011 11:49

Rose met her younger (baby) self when trying to save her dad and the doctor had no qualms about getting involved in the Jackson Lake two doctors episode when he thought that JL was a later regeneration.

Cannot wait for tonight but wish that the series was not split into two halves.

JuicyLips · 04/06/2011 12:08

yes I wish it was in one go. am excited too. seeing your future/past self seems to be ok as long as you dont phyically touch them I think.

LisMcA · 04/06/2011 12:57

marking spot :o

confuddledDOTcom · 04/06/2011 13:54

Or change anything as the past Doctor and Rose disappeared when Rose ran out in front of them.

LolaLovat · 04/06/2011 17:39

Just an hour left to wait :o

HarrietJones · 04/06/2011 18:03

Counting down
