What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

From a purely narrative perspective, it was a good way to show that she was a ganger and had been all along (I'm presuming she became a ganger when the Silence kidnapped her)

But then she can't be because she saw the Hatch-Patch-Lady before the Silence took her.

Oakmaiden · 28/05/2011 20:11

Thing is - she was pregnant right at the beginning of the series... and then when they got together again after the doctor had been in the "perfect prison" she said - oh, I'm not - I was mistaken. So it just have been something that happened between those episodes - whilst they were all seperated...

RustyBear · 28/05/2011 20:14

When was the first time she saw the Hatch-Patch lady? (good name, btw!)

She first saw Hatch-Patch-Lady in Day Of The Moon, I think, just before she went into the little girl's bedroom (and lets not forget the mind bending end of episode cliffhanger for her)

OhmeoOhmyo · 28/05/2011 20:18

The Doctor to Amy:
"It was vital we learned about the Flesh and we could only do that through your eyes."
Heh?

Thanks for the link, futurity - we've watched it 10 times already Grin

Hatch-Patch-Lady is the wonderful Francis Barber, isn't she?

BertieBotts · 28/05/2011 20:19

She's not like a proper humanified ganger though, is she? Her real body and mind are somewhere else, like the humans at the start of last week's episode when their ganger-selves were doing the dangerous work, but their actual human minds were controlling them - they weren't two separate things/people.

Although I thought they were saying in the episode that those ganger suffered unnecessarily too Confused so I have no idea.

bucaneve · 28/05/2011 20:21

They said on confidential that she was a ganger since before The Impossible Astronaut. YY I think he had to destroy ganger Amy so real Amy could be properly awake for labour.

I really really want the series to end with Amy, Rory and their baby deposited safe and sound back on earth but sadly I think it's not going to happen. I reckon next week Rory is going to have to die heroically to save the baby Sad.

BertieBotts · 28/05/2011 20:22

Reality explained it better than me. :)

KayHarker · 28/05/2011 20:30

There has been lots of foreshadowing dead Rory (for almost two series now) I think I'll almost be disappointed if he doesn't meet his end properly at some point.

OhmeoOhmyo · 28/05/2011 20:38

Frances Barber even, having just looked her up.

I liked the Rory - Jennifer story, also that he wasn't just Amy's sidekick.

RustyBear · 28/05/2011 20:41

OK, so the gangers on the island only became independent because of the solar storm, so does that mean that they were the only ones that were 'human'? - so Amy's wasn't (because the original Amy's harness thing wasn't affected by a solar storm) and the discarded gangers weren't either - though they obviously had a consciousness of a sort, as they were suffering.

Or was the result of Cleaves report to the meeting a change in the process so that gangs were no longer capable of independence & independent life? In which case, Amy's ganger would have been produced by the new process & the Doctor knew that & so it was OK to destroy it?

Or - and I just thought of this as I was typing all that, the stuff he said to the ganger Doctor about it possibly not being the end meant that he knew that if a ganger was destroyed by the sonic screwdriver, it could be recreated later?

Also, did the ganger Doctor have a sonic screwdriver of his own (and if so, how did the Flesh create that?) or was it the original Doctor's? I have a vague memory of the original Doctor throwing it to him just before he used it to destroy ganger-Jen-monster - is that right? If so, did the original Doctor have a spare one in the TARDIS that he used to destroy Amy-ganger?

I think I have some intensive re-watching to do - lucky it's half term this week, so I'm not at work...

Chamomile · 28/05/2011 20:41

He looks very good in the trailer. Much more heroic Rory.

foxinsocks · 28/05/2011 20:42

I didn't understand any of it

RustyBear · 28/05/2011 20:44

Unless Karen Gillan's leaving, I'd guess that either the baby isn't human or there will be some time-slip thing that means it effectively grows up before the end of the series; I can't see them wanting to have a baby in the TARDIS, too many child actor problems....

cornsilks · 28/05/2011 20:47

There are jedis in that trailer - with light sabres

cornsilks · 28/05/2011 20:48

...and Rory is in his Roman gear Confused

Hassled · 28/05/2011 20:49

Rusty - Doctor seems to usually have spares in the Tardis. I'm sure that's been said/has happened before.

WHO is Hatch-Patch-Lady? We're going nuts here.

BertieBotts · 28/05/2011 20:51

The ganger had a fake screwdriver I think. Or maybe not? Maybe they forgot to swap when they swapped shoes.

cornsilks · 28/05/2011 20:52

I think hatch-patch lady is something to do with River

Folk · 28/05/2011 20:58
Confused

that is all.....

RosieAndGin · 28/05/2011 20:58

River can't be Amy's child, can she Confused

Chamomile · 28/05/2011 21:01

Well ,Ponds grow into Rivers Grin

RosieAndGin · 28/05/2011 21:01
Grin
LisMcA · 28/05/2011 21:02

Well in the trailer thingy ^^ the jedis are buying something to imprison a child. Isn't River usually being held somewhere when she dashes off to see the Doctor? I think River = Baby taken at birth for some reason
