I was too Shock at what he did with the woman to remember he even had something in his hand!

Yes I agree about Vampire Diaries - I can't get used to them drinking. They have the right idea though.

Northumberlandlass · 02/02/2011 08:25

Don't want to mislead you ladies, Bill doesn't disappear from the books, he just becomes less of a central character.

As for watching Eric scenes with/without DH - I promise not comment when we watch it together, but my mate comes round every few weeks and we watch drool over him together ! Grin

Liv77 · 03/02/2011 23:46

I enjoy the series more having read all the books after watching Season 1. I like that it gives you an inkling of what might happen but can just as easily go off track.
Maybe I read the books too quickly and wasn't paying enough attention, (obviously too eager to get to the next page in case Eric showed upWink) but I always imagined Quinn as black.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2011 17:57

as long as eric is in it, who cares about bill Grin

4hrs to go

'drools'

anonacfr · 04/02/2011 18:30

Blondes I think that's become the general consensus.
Let's hope the programme makers have got the message and we get even more of him in Season 4...

SummerRain · 04/02/2011 19:21

I get so exited on Firday's waiting for it to come on Blush

less than 2 hours.......

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2011 08:40

so what did we think?

alexsdad · 05/02/2011 08:51

Does anyone know what the music was that was 'playing' in the strip bar whilst Bill was getting his lapdance?

I was half expecting to come on here to see a typical mumsnet thread.... "I found out (one of) the guy(s) I am seeing on a Friday night has been to a lapdancing club. He was persuaded to go by his friends, but I really don't know what to think about him now. He might even have taken one of them out afterwards. Should I carry on seeing him, or concentrate on the other 2?"

SummerRain · 05/02/2011 12:59

No idea alexsdad..... I did think it was a bit depressing for a strip club though Grin

the episode wasn't bad but did feel a bit let down at the end as mothing exactly happened... bit of a filler episode tbh.

And I'm not sure what to make of the essex boy vamp kidnapping Tara.

wintera · 06/02/2011 22:37

Mostly I like the differences from the book to the tv show. Jason is well better in the show than he is in the books. And keeping Lafayette alive has been great also. I actually like both the books and the show in their own right.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2011 23:22

Tbh I totally confused why bill has chucked sookie and snagging vampire lady and then drinking
Blood at end

Erics sexy dream was funny

Got bit puzzled why at the club all drank the blood then turned into werewolves?

Shaxx · 07/02/2011 21:39

I'm confused by why Bill has dumped Sookeh too. Though I'm glad he did. Maybe she can come to her senses and get it on with Eric now.

That Franklin is a really nasty character. I find him the scariest character yet.

And Sams family is awful. I wish they'd just get rid of them. They are really irritating.

ZacharyQuack · 07/02/2011 22:00

Bill has dumped Sookie to keep her away from Russell's attention. Vampire lady is Bill's maker, so he has a tie to her.

Russell (the king) is supplying the werewolves with vampire blood so that they will work for him.

Franklin improves - keep an eye out for his texting demonstration. And Russell has some fantastic scenes coming up.

I loved Lafayette in this series, he's the one taking care of everyone else. And Jason and Andy make a great comedy team.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2011 22:08

Thanks for explanation Zach

So bill does love her but is protecting her?

Personally if I was sookie I would have chosen Eric

'drools'

alexsdad · 08/02/2011 13:16

For those of you who have read the books - are they as "adult" as the programmes? Before series 3 started, DD (age 14 and into the whole twilight thing, and currently reading the Morganville Vampire series) asked if she could watch. Having temporarily, and in a fit of madness, forgotten what it was like DW and I said we would Sky+ it and let her watch the following day.

Of course, as soon as we watched episode 1 we were reminded of the content and so thought better of the idea.

However, the story lines are also really good, and I would love to hear therefore if the books would be suitable for a 14 year old?

anonacfr · 08/02/2011 13:28

Actually vampire lady renounced her maker's claim on him last season so she has no hold on him any more.
Which made their 'encounter' a lot more interesting.

The books have very different storylines but they are adult too- there are some explicit sex scenes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:26

didnt bill want his maker killed

anonacfr · 08/02/2011 14:33

I can't remember- all I know is that he was bound to her because of the maker thing and had to do what she wanted- which is why they had sex.
In the show however, it's something that he initiates all by himself.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:37

just as bill is the red haired girls maker, so in theory he could make her do what he likes?

Northumberlandlass · 08/02/2011 14:38

Alexsdad - books are more explicit than TV, however that could just be my imagination Wink.

In my opinion they are too adult for a 14yr old.

I think the whole Bill thing is about him protecting Sookeh rather than wanting Lorena.

alexsdad · 08/02/2011 15:57

Thanks for the comments about the books, Northumberland and Anon. I can;t stop her getting them from the library (if she decides to do that) but if they are as you suggest, then perhaps I shouldn't actively buy them for her then!

@blondes - "the red haired girl"?? How would you like it if I called Erik "the lanky blond one"? Grin

anonacfr · 08/02/2011 16:15

Blondes there have been moments when Bill has 'commanded' Jessica- and she's compelled to do what he tells her.

I don't think he particularly wanted Lorena when he had sex with her but he obviously has some violent aggressive issues that we haven't seen before.
He didn't need to sleep with her and wring her neck to protect Sookeh.

CeliaFate · 08/02/2011 18:24

Bill said he was getting rid of his feelings for Sookie by shagging Lorena, even though he hates her. The King said Bill had to turn Sookie or let one of them turn her if he was to keep on seeing her, so Bill had to give her up.

alexsdad · 09/02/2011 18:55

Just to let people know I found out the music I was after - it was "Paradise Circus" by Massive Attack.

Turns out there are large numbers of obsessive nerds out there on the interwebz, who put this sort of thing up.

Who would have guessed?

Liv77 · 10/02/2011 22:20

Re: the books/TV.
I think the books are the safer option at 14.
I would have read them at 14 given half a chance. I guess the best thing you can do is read one yourself, but they are no worse than the usual beginners bonkbusters like Jilly Cooper or Jackie Collins.
I remember I used to love babysitting for a neighbour when I was that age as she had a collection of "historcial romance" books I would dive into. Looking back the sex scenes were probably pretty tame but it did encourage me to venture into the local library. (Incidentally I now work in said library and I often recommend Charlaine Harris to adults returning Twilight as "Twilight for grown-ups")Grin
