He simply cannot be a baddie. I am GUTTED!

OP posts:

Some baddies had Harry in a situation where he could tell them a Big Secret (that would result in thousands of people being killed) OR they would kill Ruth's boyfriend. He didn't tell, so the boyfriend got killed. But the cavalry arrived before they killed his son. So next week's exciting episode will hinge on whether Harry would be prepared to let Lucas kill Ruth, or if he'll hand over whatever it is that Lucas wants.

StripeyMoon · 02/11/2010 13:17

I feel terribly excited!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/11/2010 13:17

Alarmed by which army, potplant? The real one or the frivolous, work-avoidance one here?

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:20

I miss Roz - she'd have sorted it out.

Lucas has got annoying with his stupid girl-friend.

And why did Malcolm call him John last week?

StripeyMoon · 02/11/2010 13:24

Lucas is all sorts of delicious things but annoying is not one of them.

(is there a real RA army? Confused)

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/11/2010 13:29

I believe so, Stripey. There are several websites and blogs devoted to the lovely Mr A and that is one of them (although a quick Google now suggests that the site is closed).

diddl · 02/11/2010 13:36

The guy holding Ruth & the council worker was a French assassin & wanted to know how much they knew about why he was there.

The council worker intercepting the drop was why Ruth went to his place & got caught up in it all.

abr1de · 02/11/2010 13:38

Edam speaks truth. Tom should return. He must be over his nervous breakdown by now.

potplant · 02/11/2010 13:39

traceybath - Well 'Lucas' is really called John and stole the identity of the real Lucas North who he may or may not have killed. The scruffy bloke calls him John as he knew him back then (and they blew up an embassy somewhere or other).

I can't remember why Malcolm was even in it last week so don't know why he would call him John.

Asmallbunchoflowers - There used to be a fansite called Armitage's Army which was a tad obsessive (I was just looking honest) but it appears to have closed down now.

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:39

I do think he has got annoying but I think all of them do when their outside relationships become part of the story.

God - Tom's girlfriend used to drive me mad.

Realises - I will not be invited to join the Armitage Army Wink

Did like him as Guy of Gisborne though.

potplant · 02/11/2010 13:41

diddl - French assasins? I thought the Chinese were the baddies of the week. I really must start paying attention to the storylines.

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:41

Potplant - thanks. I was referring though to when Malcolm gave Lucas the fake file and called him 'John'. Did he have prior knowledge as to Lucas's duplicit nature is what I meant.

I love Malcolm and very much went off Lucas when he went back to Malcolm's house to presumably do something nasty to him.

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:42

Potplant - golly just read that back and I sound very snippy - sorry! Was just trying to explain what I meant.

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:43

Is Tom the only spook apart from Malcolm whose left without being killed or sent to Chile?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 02/11/2010 13:45

I did think that dimitri wa slooking particularly hot this week, perhaps in preparation for a takeover bid?

abr1de · 02/11/2010 13:46

I think he may be, traceybath.

UnquietDad · 02/11/2010 13:50

jeee - I'm like your DH! I was huffing too.

The Ruth subplot was daft. I thought Spooks was above the "very intelligent person does something totally stupid in order to get into peril" cliche.

DW is very upset about Bad Lucas.

cazzybabs · 02/11/2010 13:50

I know they have to kill off Lucas so he can go and be a hobbet ... but god I hope dimitri is not the new sex symbol because I remember him in Grange hill and so its like when you go the doctors and realise for the 1st time you are older than them...

traceybath · 02/11/2010 13:52

I think if I were to be a spy - I'd possibly prefer to work for Mossad - because they do seem to look after their spies a bit better. Harry is a tad careless with this team - you know as they all seem to die.

You know - because obviously you can just choose which country to work for Wink

I always felt sorry for poor Jo - lordy she had a tough time.

UnquietDad · 02/11/2010 13:52

Who was he in Grange Hill?

potplant · 02/11/2010 13:53

traceybath - Grin I know what you meant.

I don't know why I'm even trying to explain plot points though, I never know what's going on.

cazzybabs · 02/11/2010 13:56

According to Wiki he was Danny Hartston.

I am sure MI5 would never get through H and S... everyone one lats a few years before they die - apart from Harry... maybe he really dislikes working as part of a "team" and therefore has to have them killed off as he gets fed up with them

traceybath · 02/11/2010 14:01

Pot - I do get rather lost myself but don't think the plots can take too much analysis or it falls apart.

LOL at Cazzy.

diddl · 02/11/2010 14:01

potplant*-I might be mixed up, & perhaps the chinese are involved somewhere, but it was a French assassin in the house with Ruth & the council worker.

Áren´t the Chinese to do with the Lucas/John Vaughn/Michael plot?

megonthemoon · 02/11/2010 14:16

Not just Tom and Malcolm: that blonde one (Sam?) from the first 2 series didn't die. She just disappeared. And I think the Jenny Agutter character may still be alive but she went bad so I suppose doesn't count.

(I've been watching Spooks for, like, forever, can't you tell?) :o

The Chinese have to be part of next week, don't they? There was that thing with teh Chinese earlier where at the end they had a picture of Lucas/John and said something like "this is teh real reason we're here" and that hasn't been explained yet.
