What CBeebies (or other children's programmes) do you miss either because your DC have grown up or because they are not on anymore?

Was just sat here fondly remembering when I used to watch 'Story Makers' with DS1 when he was little and it was shown in the bedtime hour on CBeebies - we used to cuddle onto the sofa and watch it and twas lovely.

I quite miss Story Makers....Ben 10 is just not the same Wink

Marmalade. Classic episode. Auntie Mabel very obviously not in Spain.

Also cleaning one when they go to the laundrette and dry cleaners. "So that's how they get the stains out" Hmm

And buses. Pippin left on the bus.

FFS

pollywollywoowah · 20/10/2010 20:39

The poo one is hilarious. Mainly because Auntie M has to smile copiously and look really interested whilst visiting the sewage works. Bless her.

Earlybird · 20/10/2010 20:40

Memorable Come Outside episodes:

The hedgehog rescue from Auntie Mabel's back garden where she flew the injured animal to the special clinic

I especially like the one where Pippin rode the bus

And who could forget the episode where Auntie Mabel helped the bloke change the street lamp bulb by riding up in his crane (or whatever it is called).

And didn't she once visit a place where they make wooden chairs?

Panzee · 20/10/2010 20:40

SuePurblybilt I've just watched the Holes song. Oh. My. God. Badgers. Shagging. [hshock] [hgrin]

SuePurblybilt · 20/10/2010 20:42

Told you. And I think they're both males.

Panzee · 20/10/2010 20:45

And she gets a hen's baby to cook as soon as she's sung it!!! I'm a carnivore but even I thought it was a bit much. [hgrin]

Earlybird · 20/10/2010 20:45

I still can remember dd being shocked at naughty Pippin who stole a baked sweet (jam tart or biscuit perhaps?) off the plate in Auntie Mabel's kitchen.

DD was sure Pippin was going to get in real trouble with Auntie Mabel.

Did she also go to a broom factory? Vague recollection...

IntheFrightGarden · 20/10/2010 20:49

A good one is the trip to the rubbish dump-I think Pippin gets lost agsin.

This traumatised ds, then 3, completely, to the point where he is still a bit wary of dumps.

He used to hide behind the sofa whenever Pippin did something a bit naughty Grin

MillyMollyMardy · 20/10/2010 20:49

The poo come outside makes me wince everytime it's on. She puts gloves on to put Pippin's plop down the loo then flushes the loo with the gloves still on.
It has given ds an obsession with where poo and water go. Although tonight he has moved on to where poo comes from and mistakenly I told him he had a special hole in his bottom. He spent the hour before bed fiddling.

SuePurblybilt · 20/10/2010 20:53

DD and I are watching poo online tomorrow for sure. I also dimly recall the chair one.

Is it normal to put dog crap down the loo? Or had she crapped indoors?

FunkofFortyThousandYears · 20/10/2010 20:53

Wellies have we mentioned wellies?

jonicomelately · 20/10/2010 21:08

Once seen the poo episode is never forgotten. Personally I'd quite like to live in Aunty Mabel's world.
I miss Charlie and Lola, Peppa Pig and Storymakers (although it often drove me mad at the time).
Don't miss the Tweenies and Fimbles.

Panzee · 20/10/2010 21:16

I am most upset that nobody is acknowledging how horrific the egg episode is. She sings a song about eggs and their mothers, and what cute baby animals the eggs hatch into. Then after the song is over, she decides she's hungry, and cooks an egg. After singing about how eggs are babies. She starts to cook one. Sod looking at poo, She's a baby murderer!!!!

[hschock] [hgrin]

ellensmelons · 20/10/2010 21:22

Pencils. Yawn. Me and the kids. I miss Razzamatazz (probably too many zzzs) cos I loved the song. Chap at the end now does that 'Celebrate' prog - Irish, one eyebrow.

I REALLY miss 'Hugo Monkey's Funky Jungle Congo'. And, of course, Chris. (sigh)

Earlybird · 20/10/2010 21:25

I used to love watching Oswald - and was especially fond of the two talking eggs.........yes, yes.

Horton · 20/10/2010 22:10

I miss Story Makers, too. I really liked Blue Cow. I've forgotten the song, now, as well, must google it.

And PLEASE bring back Chris and Pui. I really miss them too. Cerrie and Alex are okay but Chris and Pui were just perfect.

I have Hugo Monkey's Funky Jungle Congo recorded. I wonder if I could put it online for download? How would I do that? I have it on my DVD player's hard drive. Although actually, thinking about it, that might be illegal.

And I was glad to see the back of it, but DD misses Carrie and David's sodding Popshop.

Valpollicella · 20/10/2010 22:16

What age do they grow out of CBeebies? I'll definately be sad to wave some goodbye...

LittleBoxes · 20/10/2010 22:16

DD (Milkshake and Disney DVD fan these days, 4.4) is ill at the mo and I'm going to be off work with her tomorrow. I've told her she can watch CBeebies all day and am secretly excited about watching all the stuff we used to cuddle up in front of when she was tiny. I'm especially hoping for Doodle Do, but they've even stopped repeating it now haven't they?

Chris's 'Bedtime Business' song was the best thing ever.

SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 20/10/2010 22:18

dd luuuurrrrves come outside - pippin mummy pippin!

In the future I will miss the following:

Granpa pocket (gives me 10 mins peace!)
Justin (Anyone with a toddler now is going to miss him!)
Thomas
Igam Ogam

SoMuchToBats · 20/10/2010 22:22

We also loves Storymakers! Especially Blue Cow and the three bears (I can still sing the song they used to sing at the beginning of it,much to Ds's amusement).

And we liked Come Outside, and the Shiny Show (especially the one that had the fire station in it, it's near where my sister lives in Brighton!) and Fireman Sam and Big Cook Little Cook. And SMarteenies.

Ds is 9 now, and more into rescue programes, mythbusters etc - all great, but not quite the same....

SuePurblybilt · 20/10/2010 22:22

I watch the Funky jungle cong with DD on youtube. Lovely Chris is so lovely, if they take Showmeshowme away I may go into a decline.

lucykate · 20/10/2010 22:27

i miss sue (for those who don't know, she used to present cbeebies and also do the voice of tigs from the shiney show). sue and chris jarvis used to sing a 'what's inside the carrot cupboard' song sometimes. as an aside, does anyone else remember chris jarvis and josie d'arby doing quite a funny spoof soap, wood lane i think it was called?

MillyMollyMardy · 20/10/2010 22:44

I always watch glance at Showmeshowme just to see Chris and Pui laughing at each other.

twirlymum · 20/10/2010 23:00

Hugo Monkey's Funky Jungle Conga is a classic, we still sing it!
The Shiny Show was great: 'give yourself a pat on the side, you tried, you tried, you tried'
DS does not like Bear in the Big Blue House 'mummy, he sniffs me, I don't like it'
I like Big and Small.

pinkjello · 20/10/2010 23:16

The episode of Come Outside I have seen over and over again is the one where Pippen stays on the bus and the bus driver finds him at the depo. It's the one where she's rushing to get to the library in time and the plane won't start. Grin
