Would you ‘let’ your teenager go to a party like this?

This isn’t my teenager involved just seeing what others thing.

I’m talking about 17 year olds. Party is at an air bnb, in the next city. The party host is a stranger/friend of a friend of a friend type thing, and it’s a pay on entry, around 500 people going to be there. Teen would be going with another friend.

No - sounds well dodgy
Yes- they’re nearly adults

No

noidea69 · 12/09/2025 17:04

Definitely sounds like the type of thing the police would end up having a to turn up at.

NewYorkSummer · 12/09/2025 17:05

No I wouldn’t be keen. Especially as I have daughters and I feel they could be very vulnerable in that kind of situation.

Permittedperson · 12/09/2025 17:06

Not a chance. But how would you stop them? How would you even know about it?

BlackAndWhiteShoes · 12/09/2025 17:07

No. Although I’m curious. 500 people - what is this place? Before that figure I imagined a largish house rented by a naive parent. But 500?! Sounds like police will get involved and shut it down if it did take place.

HelpMeUnpickThis · 12/09/2025 17:08

No.

ImAPreMadonna · 12/09/2025 17:10

I mean, I’d be - and was - all over a party like that at 17. Illegal M25 and East London raves anyone?!

Would my parents have ‘let me’? Probably not.

Did they know and did I go? Nope and abso-fucking-lutely!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/09/2025 17:11

Definitely not!!

I agree with @BlackAndWhiteShoes - it sounds very dodgy - I can’t imagine the AirBnB hosts know their property will be used for a party for 500 people.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 12/09/2025 17:11

No. But TBH other than locking her up in her room, which I believe is frowned upon these days, I don’t know how I’d stop her.

PurpleThistle7 · 12/09/2025 17:12

I wouldn’t think this is a good idea for any age but also no idea how I’d control it. Honestly if my teenager was telling me where she was going at that age I’d likely just be excited she was being honest

Thedogandme · 12/09/2025 17:14

It was a party and some of my dcs mates went.

I was surprised that a couple of the parents were ok with it and even dropped them off. And yes it did all go wrong.

Sorry it went wrong!
I was just about to type -‘yep, sounds like a fab night!’

Poppingby · 12/09/2025 17:18

What happened?

Ihateeverything · 12/09/2025 17:19

Sex, drugs, rock and roll…. Bit too much… then police I’d guess?!?

BauhausOfEliott · 12/09/2025 17:20

Pay on entry, 500 guests at an Airbnb?

That's not a party.

It's an illegal, unlicensed event at which people are going to be arrested.

Venues that charge entry, serve drinks and play music to 500 people have to be licensed and safety checked for a reason. If it's a private house it won't have the same fire safety, alcohol regulation, toilet provision etc that an actual events venue would have and it's absolutely dodgy as fuck.

No

From what I was told it was raided. There were loads of drugs, someone ended up getting threatened.

Just all dodgy as hell.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 12/09/2025 17:25

I wouldn't even let myself go!

Wynter25 · 12/09/2025 17:26

Nope

Nevertrustacop · 12/09/2025 17:29

No it sounds well dodgy.
That said I simply would not have been able to prevent my son going at 17 if he decided that's what he was going to do. So I certainly don't blame you if he ends up there.

I would try not to believe everything you are told when it comes to kids and parties.
