We live in a small seaside town, they've all been going to the beach in the hot days and to the park on the not so hot..

What time do you let your 14 year old girls out untill??

I don't want to be unreasonable with timings she has to be in, her friends mum says 8 latest.. Ive said half 9. But some. Of her friends are out and about untill 10/10.30

Just curious to what other parents do.

I think around 9/9:30 is about right at that age in the lighter months. As long as she has her phone on her and is generally quite sensible I think 9:30 is reasonable ☺️

I have the life 360 app and check her regularly 😂 and she stays in contact. She's a good kid.. Well as far as I'm aware 🙄

I don't think 14 year olds should just be hanging about at the park or tlhe beach. I grew up near the beach and didn't do that. If it happens there will inevitably be fags, vapes, cider, etc.

At 14 they should be doing organised activities such as sport, music, theatre, their homework, etc. If they meet friends it should be at an organised event: cinema, party, girlie night with friends with adult supervision at the latter two. Ours had some day time trips to a theme with their friends.

My teens seem to hang at each other’s houses. Not sure I’d feel comfortable with them being out at the beach until 9pm regularly. Maybe as a one off. (Feeling relieved I don’t have to stress about this).

Annascaul · 17/05/2025 21:57

At the beach until 9.30pm?! No way.

Mrsmouse71 · 17/05/2025 21:58

Mine doesn’t go out, biggish village, not many kids out after tea time

Ecrire · 17/05/2025 22:00

Cannot imagine my 14 year old daughter or son just hanging around at half June at night near a beach. No way.

SpicyMcSpice · 17/05/2025 22:01

Ooh no, I wouldn’t have this.

What time does she go to bed?! I would’ve thought at 9.30 she should winding down for night and getting ready for school in the morning!

I would do the same thing! 🤣 mine are only 5 & 1 but I will track and trace until they step through the door lol. Your showing her you trust her so long may the good behaviour continue!

feelingbleh · 17/05/2025 22:02

I think 8pm is a more reasonable time

Benshawsberries · 17/05/2025 22:02

9.30 on school nights, 10.30 on a weekend but I have her location at all times and she is always with someone else or I pick her up

Ddakji · 17/05/2025 22:04

Nowhere like as late as that.

Not a bloody chance! Bed at 9.30 on a school night

sunshineandshowers40 · 17/05/2025 22:10

I have boys of a similar age and I like them home by 9:30pm unless they are at someone's house and then it's later.

Imcomingovertoyourplace · 17/05/2025 22:10

Come on, we were all out past 10pm at 14!!

No, and neither were my kids.

DiscoBeat · 17/05/2025 22:14

I have a 14 year old and 17 year old and they never really go out just for the sake of it. Theyll go to friends houses to stay over or have friends here, or go shopping and you restaurants during the day. Theyve never been interested in just wandering around for the sake of it.

Ha I don't think I was ever allowed out past 10pm?! Not until I went to uni. We all go to bed at 10!

BruisedNeckMeat · 17/05/2025 22:17

If they’re just hanging around in parks or beach it would be around 8pm latest for my 14 year old. Before dark and the evening people come out.

TartanMammy · 17/05/2025 22:17

About 9:30pm on the weekend, I will usually go and collect him unless he's walking back with a friend.

My 14 year old meets up with friends during the day, but normally home by 6pm, she goes to bed at 9:30 on school nights.
