Bail

coffeeandpeace · 15/02/2023 17:59

16 year old on bail. Played knock a door run and there was a massive over reaction by police.
What is likely to happen when we check back in at the police station ?

you need to tell the school, as there are likely to be procedures for escorting around the site, etc. Normally students on bail are not allowed to walk around unsupervised at any point

Hellocatshome · 15/02/2023 18:01

I am assuming there is far more to this than you have said therefore its impossible to know. No one gets arrested for playing knock a door run.

limoncelloo · 15/02/2023 18:02

"Knock and run" isn't an offence. There is more to this, especially for there to be police bail involved.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 15/02/2023 18:03

Hmm. Who told you the story op?

pawz · 15/02/2023 18:03

I'm guessing it's a previous bail prior to knock a door?

Did they violate the terms of the bail? Is it pre-charge or post-charge bail?

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 15/02/2023 18:03

If it's knock down ginger only, he will be at most given a caution.

AllWorkYoPlait · 15/02/2023 18:07

Definitely a large chunk of info missing...

Undermyumberellaellaella · 15/02/2023 18:08

Nobody gets arrested for playing knock and run. Which I thought was just a game for 10 year olds. Is there more to this story???

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 15/02/2023 18:09

He has not been arrested and bailed for that…

and yes, tell school.

Kangarude · 15/02/2023 18:09

Tell us the full story and maybe we can advise

Boomboom22 · 15/02/2023 18:11

I don't know, 16 looks like an adult and pretty intimidating so if repeated to the same houses of vulnerable people I'd think could be harassment so yes an offence. Not sure how the game still happens nowadays with supervision until a bit older. 16 far too old to be doing that, was he drunk as well? Swearing or scary?

Felix125 · 15/02/2023 18:12

What was the offence he was arrested for?

Exactly so you would get arrested for harassment or a public order offence not playing knock a door run. OP needs to face facts that the 16 year old was not arrested and bailed for playing a game. If she explains properly what happened we might be able to give some helpful insight into what will likely happen next.

Sure, there are so many things wrong with a 16 year old behaving in such a harassing, distressing, alarming way, and that's always assuming there is no hate crime or criminal damage involved...

If they were 6, then it would just be dealt with as antisocial behaviour, but 16, its quite expected that they would be charged

coffeeandpeace · 15/02/2023 19:26

There is no school. He left last June after GCSE

Okay, well if that's all we're getting as a reply, everyone might as well give up now. 🤣

coffeeandpeace · 15/02/2023 19:28

Never been in trouble before. The kids were playing knock a door run. There are witness to this. It happened in the space of 10 minutes. They were on the front of my friends house and the house they knocked on the door was about 10 houses away. It's a guy who is constantly complaining about kids

Is he complaining because the kids are always screaming in the street and possibly breaking things in gardens etc or just moaning about kids. Because if it's the second one, I still can't see how the kids managed to get arrested and are on bail.

coffeeandpeace · 15/02/2023 19:32

That is the full story. The kids had been out with my friend all day. Went back to her house at tea time. The kids went onto the front for 5 mins . Next thing she was calling me saying police cars had turned up. The man said he was sat in his house and some kids knocked on his door twice. So he rang police and said he was being burgled. Other 2 kids were only 14 and were let go with no further action

OP posts:
limoncelloo · 15/02/2023 19:32

He's not going to be arrested, let alone accepted into custody by the custody sergeant, for "just" a game of knock and run.

16 yr old kids don’t ‘play’ this.
what has actually happened?

coffeeandpeace · 15/02/2023 19:33

No ! Why are people accusing him of this sort of thing. He doesn't drink/ swear .
This is a well known local man who is constantly complaining about kids

Right, so he's been arrested on suspicion of burglary?

I don't think people are trying to accuse him of things... they're trying to fill in the gaps.

There is no offence relating to knock door run; and to be on bail, he'll have been arrested on suspicion of something. What that is is really important, without it we can't give any advice.

From what you've said, it's likely to be burglary. Did your son or anyone he was with go into the house? Remove anything from his garden?
