That's it really. He's under 18 and has a fucking tattoo on his wrist.

I'm devastated. I know they're very fashionable but that's not the point. If we'd discussed it I'd have obviously made sure he waited until he was 18. The legal age!! I'd suggested he put it somewhere it couldn't be seen with a shirt on.

As it is he won't be able to do the career he wants with a fucking tattoo on his wrist.

I know MNet will jump down my throat but I'm devastated.

We're booked for consultation to get it laser removed but fuck knows how I'm going to afford it,

His girlfriend has dumped him over it and he really regrets getting it done.

I'm just posting here to moan really, can't stop crying. Stupid stupid little boy.

@HeronLanyon

getoff well as we wear horsehair wigs I think the reality is our skills and adherence to all sorts of conventions are all at play. It’s not one or the other. Madness really.
It does sound mad when you put it like that! Grin
GiveMeAUserName123 · 28/08/2021 19:23

I’d dump a guy with a drug tattoo on his wrist, as that’s not the kind of person I would want to live my life with, smoking it is not great, but signalling to the world and it’s mother you smoke it by getting a visible tattoo for everyone to see......nah, muppet!

helentomelon · 28/08/2021 19:23

What career is he looking to do where a tattoo isn't acceptable? I see that you said it's a drug reference but if he didn't realise then would the general public? If it's obviously distasteful then a cover up would probably be less expensive, time consuming and expensive than removal

I have friends who are doctors, teachers, lawyers, military who have tattoos so I'm not being deliberately combative. I just can't see what career would have an issue with this?

I've just had a conversation with my 16 year old though about her getting a tattoo and it dormer bother me in the slightest so we're perhaps on different pages!

@Carboncheque

This is the best mother’s overreaction to a tattoo

You are far too reasonable OP Grin

Blimey. Talk about drama queen. I just read that with a dropped jaw - and I’m a tattoo hater.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2021 19:27

I’m at the Bar. Pupillage and tenancy committees would still be astonished at a visible tattoo. Really just for lack of judgment. So too would judges in court

At my DD University Open Day , the student showing us round had arms, shoulders and back covered in them (wearing a vest top)
None that would be visible when she had a jacket and blouse/shirt on . Lots of piercings though .
DD is studying Law.

But he said he didn't realise it was drug related so it can't be as obvious as a joint or cannabis leaf or whatever

Oh my word! I wonder if the writer of that article is embarrassed now she's had time to think about it.
Classica · 28/08/2021 19:30

He said to his mum he didn't know. Of course he did! Grin

It’s stuck in my memory for the sheer level of all-about-me overreaction. I hope she’s now over her grieving period.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

A smart girl who isn’t interested in wasting her time with someone whose addicted to drugs at 17?

Where on the OPs posts does it say her DS is addicted to drugs ?

You've just decided this have you on no evidence at all ?

It was somewhat tongue in cheek but let’s be honest, he’s doing some drugs at the very least. (No one believes his nonsense about not knowing it was a drug tattoo) The fact he is in thrall to his drug of choice enough to have it permanently inked onto his skin suggests it’s not just a one off experimentation. A smart girl would spot this and make her escape.

Well yeah of course but for her to have beloved it it can't be obvious?
MrsRobbieHart · 28/08/2021 19:43

So if he didn’t know it was a drug tattoo, and it isn’t obvious it’s a drug tattoo, how does OP know it’s a drug tattoo?

Secret raver?
helentomelon · 28/08/2021 19:44

We need to see the tattoo

MrsRobbieHart · 28/08/2021 19:51

Secret raver?

Yeah, she sounds the type Grin

Dixiechickonhols · 28/08/2021 19:54

Girlfriend dumping him over it could easily be her telling him don’t be a prat and him ignoring her.
Longer term it might make him think before he acts - he sounds like he regrets it already. So a good learning exercise for him.
He can cover with sleeves, dermablend, watch etc.

Longdistance · 28/08/2021 19:55

His shit mistake, his problem to solve and pay for.

Libraryghost · 28/08/2021 19:56

We have all been a d*ckhead when in our teens. Main thing is this is fixable. It can be removed, disguised and in the meantime buy some dermablend. My friend used it to cover a tatoo on her wedding day. Amazing stuff. The girlfriend is not worth worrying about. Who dumps someone because they had a tattoo? He is better off without her.

Libraryghost · 28/08/2021 19:58

@MrsRobbieHart you don’t know he is doing drugs. Don’t be so ridiculous. I have a mug with a cannabis leaf on and I have never touched the stuff!

MrsRobbieHart · 28/08/2021 19:59

😂

Mug- tattoo permanently inked on his skin? Yeah, those are the same.

ParkheadParadise · 28/08/2021 19:59

Tattoos are addictive OP
You'll be Greetin for the next 10 years 😂🤪😂🤪

TheRebelle · 28/08/2021 20:06

What a stupid boy! Especially if he’s got his heart set on his chosen career and he can’t do it with tattoos, was he drunk when he had it done or was it just a moment of madness?

I got my eyebrow pierced when I was 18 and drunk, my mum wouldn’t speak to me until I took it out, she kept getting my dad to ring me to see if I’d taken it out, little did she know I had to take it out because it got infected and swelled up Blush

I'm cringing here wanting to confess the tattoo I got in Magaluf after my divorce aged 38
