My ds 14 is about 5ft 3, he grows steadily at the moment I'd say. When did you ds have their biggest growth spurt? I always remember my mum talking about my brother when she bought him clothes at the beginning of summer holidays and he had completely grown out of them by the end but I don't remember when she said.

I'm not worried about my sons height, I'm just interested to know! :-)

the food Shock

dc eat so much.
and no, cutting out carbs and upping protein doesn't make them less hungry.

YY to the food - so much food Shock

We’re taking DSs friend on holiday with us this year and I’m already worried about the supermarket bill and the number of trips we’ll have to make!

RonSwansonsChair · 03/06/2021 13:51

DS2 recently turned 14 and has grown 6" this year, he's now 6'3 and is even taller than his older brother. He hates that all anyone now says to him is "oh my god, look at the height of you!"

CauliflowerCheese30 · 03/06/2021 14:07

Ds was 15 in March and has hit 6ft 3, he loves being the tallest in the house Grin

I just used the 'sunflower' steal with a DC. He was not amused. I said it was meant fondly, as a compliment and he knows how much I love sunflowers. That did not help. He remains disgruntled, under the mop.

MaMelon · 03/06/2021 15:42

Ahhh, the disgruntled teenage male we know and love so dearly Smile

Mine is currently in a strop because we won’t buy him (another) set of headphones to replace the ones he broke when he was in a temper over some Xbox game. He wants a fancy £70 pair (reduced to £37, so a bargain really) and DH has offered him his spare pair he bought from B&M a while back, and this makes us the worst parents in the world bar none apparently. We’re naturally devastated.

Mine was one of the tallest in his class/year until he was about 12. Then they all caught up and some ‘overtook’ him. When he was 16 though he started to grow faster again and is now 6ft 3 and 17. His dad is 6ft 2 and I am 5ft 4.

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 03/06/2021 16:58

@RonSwansonsChair my 6ft3 DS has recently asked to start watching parks &rec with him Grin

Was that the same for you? Wink

WhatHaveIFound · 03/06/2021 17:06

My DS has been one of the last of his peers to hit his growth spurt at 16. He's grown 9 inches in the last year and I had to buy new school shoes for the last 4 weeks of Y11. Just hoping he'll still fit in them come September!

JerushaSturgis · 03/06/2021 17:12

My 14 yo boy is suddenly 6ft tall. He wasn't that tall at Easter! He's grown 4inches since then! All his trousers are suddenly too small. His arms are like orangutans!!

Oblomov21 · 03/06/2021 17:15

Varies. Often continue until aged 21.

kerkyra · 03/06/2021 17:28

Is the saying true that sons are always taller than their mothers? My eldest son,20 is just a touch taller.

I wish I could get him out of his bedroom (&the kitchen!) long enough to sit and watch it with me Grin

Uberbeeboo · 03/06/2021 18:48

My DS3 had a huge growth spurt between the age of 12-13. Last April he was 5ft 4 and he's now 6ft and counting.

kowari · 03/06/2021 18:56

DS (now 15) grew 10cm between 14 and 15, had grown a steady 5 to 6cm a year before that. His voice also broke and he got fluff on his upper lip in the last year. He is 168cm or 5ft 6 but expected to grow a good bit more.

FrumpyBetty · 03/06/2021 19:14

One of my DS never really had a growth spurt, just sort of grew at an average rate.

The second DS really grew between 16 and 18 - about 7inches. Is now 6 4" and still growing. Hope he stops soon.

FrumpyBetty · 03/06/2021 19:16

@kerkyra

No its not true. I'm taller than my son.

KarensChoppyGob · 03/06/2021 19:17

DD & DS both taller than me. I'm 5ft 6".

MaMelon · 03/06/2021 19:18

@kerkyra

I’m 5’1”, so while I hate stereotyping I am quite glad he’s taller than me.

Iloveitall · 03/06/2021 19:23

My 12 year old is having a growth spurt this year. He’s grown an inch every 2 months for the last 6 months. I don’t know if it gets faster than that as he’s only 12. However his voice has broken so he’s definitely in the midst of puberty. Off to read the rest of the thread now. See what I can expect in the next few years. Lol.

WithASpider · 03/06/2021 21:34

My friend's DS was 5' 5 when he left primary school. By that September he was 5' 7. He's now 14 and 6'5, I think he's been having a spurt for 3 years!

DS is Yr 6 and 5'6. I'm dreading his growth spurt!

Szboox · 03/06/2021 21:38

My son had his in the first lockdown when he was 14 going on 15, he’s now around 5ft 11. So his was y10.

TSSDNCOP · 03/06/2021 22:21

I've lost the red book we had when DS was a baby. I'm certain that it predicted he would be 6'6. He's shot up in Year 9 and is now 6 feet, he's also slimmed down massively since September due to school sport and things like DoE and Scout hikes. I'm 5'9 and his father is 6'2, but my family are all 6'5 men so I don't think he's finished yet. I love this age in boys, they are like labradors with Great Dane legs Grin
