Would you tell your teen you can hear him ...doing what teen boys do....and could he please do it quieter?

I've posted before about walking in on him and learning to knock before entering his room.

Now the problem is I can hear him in my kitchen because his bedroom's above. So, as I prepare dinner/wash up/generally potter, I hear him wanking.

I know it happens, and they all do it, but I really don't want to hear it.

Tactful approach?

I think making a good natured joke about what is socially acceptable and what isn't is the way to go.

He isn't going to stop wanking, but he does need to learn to be tactful about when he does it and how much noise he makes.

it isn't anything to be ashamed of, but neither should it be a spectator sport!

Nemo2007 · 12/09/2007 20:51

oh weebles I know..alreayd think its bad enough that my ds[4 next month] gleefully shouts to me to come and look that his hole is getting bigger

Desiderata · 12/09/2007 20:52

A synopsis of this thread reveals the way forward:-

I'm so glad you've found your todge, son . It's great fun ... and I know . So much more responsible than shagging a girl, wouldn't you say? And possibly getting her pregnant. Yes, I'm happy you've found your todge.

And so's your father.

On the subject of your father, I quite fancy shagging him tonight. We want to get down and dirty. Is that a cool phrase? More toast?

Anyhow, I'm a bit concerned that you might hear us, so I'm thinking a bit of music in the house would be good ... at certain times. Me and Dad can play 'I'm a germ free adolescent' by X-RAY SPECS and you can play whatever music you consider to be cool these days (and which, for what it's worth, me and your dad think is pants).

Purely when pulling the pud, as it were.

Well, I'm glad we had the discussion. I am now off to the shed.

southeatsastras · 12/09/2007 20:53

a spectator sport! what a horrifying thought mb

rantinghousewife · 12/09/2007 20:54

Rofl at Desi, nicely summed up!

fireflyfairy2 · 12/09/2007 20:54

I don't know what I would say, but then my ds is just 2

TigerFeet · 12/09/2007 20:54

rantinghousewife · 12/09/2007 20:55

southeat, conjures up horrifying vision, doesn't it.

weebleswobble · 12/09/2007 20:55

ummmm Des, I'm giving your advice consideration. Should I be taking a bottle of vodka to the shed?

OP posts:
southeatsastras · 12/09/2007 20:56

don't even go there rhw

ShinyHappySchmooo · 12/09/2007 20:56

LOL Desi that's fab.

DH makes the odd remark about our sex life, eg.. "are you off to your father's this weekend? I want to give your mother a good, loud, seeing to..." just so we can watch his horrfied/amused reactions!

We seem to have struck the right chord over such things finally.. re us respecting his privacy over such things.. and him respecting ours. Humour does seem to be the way to go..

devonsmummy · 12/09/2007 20:57

funniest comments I've seen in a while. Made me laugh out loud.
Can you buy him a bean bag?

Desiderata · 12/09/2007 20:59

Weebles, sheds have always been used as storage vessels for alcohol. Please don't tell me you have a lawnmower in there, and shears .. and funny Christmas things.

Sheds are distilleries with deck chairs and spiders. Everybody knows that ... except the government.

Ha ha !!

ShinyHappySchmooo · 12/09/2007 21:00

It doesn't seem five minutes ago when DS was traumatised all weekend when he finally twigged that people have sex just for fun rather than just to make babies! He said "Does that mean you two.... and [various friends]??? No!! That's just gross!" (He wasn't grinning.. I was..)

It was only three years ago actually!! He hasn't have grown up since then! And clearly discovered what sexual urges are all about as well.. sigh!

purpleduck · 12/09/2007 21:00

Does he sound like this...?

Rofl @ beanbag

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 12/09/2007 21:04

I am so grateful I am deaf....when my DS gets to that age I just won't hear it and will be blissfully ignorant.....

Until I go in to change the bedding and have to peel it off the matress....

Arghh!!!

RTKangaMummy · 12/09/2007 21:04

weebleswobble · 12/09/2007 21:04
