Would you tell your teen you can hear him ...doing what teen boys do....and could he please do it quieter?

I've posted before about walking in on him and learning to knock before entering his room.

Now the problem is I can hear him in my kitchen because his bedroom's above. So, as I prepare dinner/wash up/generally potter, I hear him wanking.

I know it happens, and they all do it, but I really don't want to hear it.

Tactful approach?

say 'i can hear you quit it'

TheArmadillo · 12/09/2007 20:17

you could be subtle and when you hear it, knock on his door and ask if he's alright as you are worried about the noises coming from his room.

lojomojo · 12/09/2007 20:17

Couldn't you ask him to have his stero on at the same time. I bet that this must be one of the most unpleasant things that has ever happened to you.

bigknickersbigknockers · 12/09/2007 20:18

southeatsastra... she said tactful

harleyd · 12/09/2007 20:18

Tortington · 12/09/2007 20:19

" FOR GODS SAKE...leave it alone IT WILL DROP OFF"

LilyLoo · 12/09/2007 20:19

dp said don't say anything to him you could scar him for life
i'd personally go and make a lot of noise outside his room so he knows your about!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 12/09/2007 20:20

Can't you just put your own music on in the kitchen?
Avoids the issue....

tigermoth · 12/09/2007 20:20

the TheArmadillo has a great solution - agree that you should just knock on the door of his room and say you can hear some odd noises and is he ok?

WorkersforfreEdam · 12/09/2007 20:21

When you are in the kitchen and you hear him, shout up to him 'are you OK? I can hear some odd noises'. Will embarrass him, poor lad, but he needs to know - what if someone comes round while he's up there?

weebleswobble · 12/09/2007 20:21

By the sound of his arm banging on the chair up there it sounds like he's doing building work up there. This was my baby once

ChipButty · 12/09/2007 20:21

How about letting him hear YOU?! Maybe he will think twice then...

mytwopenceworth · 12/09/2007 20:22

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't tell him.

He'll join a monastery in Tibet.

Yell up "Did you say something, love?"

He'll know you heard him, but he'll think you don't know what you heard and he'll be more quiet next time.

Blandmum · 12/09/2007 20:23

I would say, 'Darling, Mummy has ears, you have needs, be tactful, there's a good lad!'

weebleswobble · 12/09/2007 20:23

I like the sound of Armadillo's advice.
Southeatsastras - did you your technique and did it work?

OP posts:
Tortington · 12/09/2007 20:24

" I said it WILL DROP OFF"

weebleswobble · 12/09/2007 20:24

insert 'use' between 'you' and 'yours'

rantinghousewife · 12/09/2007 20:24

Lol, yeah I like TPW's idea, feign ignorance, whilst letting him know that you can hear something coming from his room.

Bang the ceiling with a sweeping brush and then never say anything about it again.

LadyTophamHatt · 12/09/2007 20:26

leave abox of tissues out side his door.

BeetrootBevan · 12/09/2007 20:26

I wouod say something along the lines of
'you can hear everything down here - cielings are really thin'

southeatsastras · 12/09/2007 20:27

i shout that up to my son whatever noises he's making. he'd know i'd heard him
