She was supposed to go to her mate's house for tea, then on a school organised walk, I was to pick her up at 8.30.

When I realised that her mate's mum had not rang me last night as promised, I told her to come straight home instead.

I rang the school to ask them to pass this message on to be doubly sure she came home

She hasn't.

I don't know whose house she is at, of even if she is there.... I don't know who is looking after her - or if anybody is.

I don't know who to call.

8.30 is a long way away.

What should I do? It seems a bit drastic to ring the police, but I don't know how else to get her home????

How old is she?

Nip · 12/06/2007 16:25

Could you phone one of her friends? I would call someone just to put your mind at rest?

elsieanjoanne · 12/06/2007 16:25

oh dear dont realy no what to advise but hopefully she will get hungry an come home i know this probably isnt what you needed but i needed to post something

saffymum · 12/06/2007 16:26

Did she get the message from the school, call them to make sure.

Rhubarb · 12/06/2007 16:26

Phone school and ask them if they passed on the message and who she left with.

burstingbug · 12/06/2007 16:26

Oh Squonk, hope she turns up soon safe & well. {hug}

saffymum · 12/06/2007 16:26

I would ring round a few friends houses that you do have the numbers for.

fryalot · 12/06/2007 16:27

she's 13.

Am fairly sure that she's just done what she wanted, regardless of what I said, but what if she hasn't....

I don't know who to ring - I don't know any of her friends' numbers

My neighbours daughter is this age and is forever coming home late. If the school is organising the walk then can you ring them and ask someone to contact you when she arrives for the walk?

Rhubarb · 12/06/2007 16:29

Keep trying the school, they should be in still.

They will have phone number of other parents.

Then think of suitable punishment.

dustystar · 12/06/2007 16:30

Ring again and keep ringing. i'd be very surprised if there is no-one there now. Its probably just that the office staff have gone home. Someone will answer your call eventually if you keep trying.

fryalot · 12/06/2007 16:31

the school has one of those answering machine thingies where it doesn't actually ring out, it's just saying that there is nobody there....

doyou know the surnames of any friends? have a look in phone book?

Rhubarb · 12/06/2007 16:33

Perhaps because the line is busy?

Keep trying.

dustystar · 12/06/2007 16:34

I'm sure she will be fine and is just being a typical teenager but if the school is close why not pop down there and put your mind at rest. It sounds like you are going to be worrying for 4 hours otherwise.

fryalot · 12/06/2007 16:34

have looked in the book for all of her friend's names that I can remember, but most of them have their dad's name, which is different from their mum's.... the phone probably being in the mum's name iykwim.

keep trying the school

Yes, visit the school. The secretary should still be there.

dustystar · 12/06/2007 16:35

What time would she normally get home?

Rhubarb · 12/06/2007 16:36

Oh.

She's probably gone to this friends as you say.

Nothing you can do now but wait and think of what you say when you see her.

Perhaps get all her friends' phone numbers too.

fryalot · 12/06/2007 16:36

bus drops her off at 4.10

Have rang the parents of a girl she gets on the bus with.... she said that dd1 has gone to Gemma's house

Have checked the phone book and there are no listings under her surname.

OP posts:
fryalot · 12/06/2007 16:37

so, should I just leave it now till 8.30 and go and pick her up as originally planned?

I am so cross with her, she knows she isn't allowed to be at the house of someone I don't know.
