My DS is 19 he has 2 part time jobs -supermarket earns around £500 p/m the other is bar work which he is paid cash plus a few tips but isn't regular hours each week.

My DH (not his dad) says he should pay his way and wants to charge £5 per day. I'm all for him contributing but is this too much? My DS thinks it's an unfair amount and it's starting to cause arguments. Just wondered if anyone had any advice?

When my DD left full time education I lost £400 a month tax credit/child benefit as I work f/t in a minimum wage job. DD is now an apprentice who takes home £572 a month. I could not ask her to work 40 hours a week and take £400 from her so we agreed £200. She knows she would be unable to find somewhere to rent for that amount.

In an ideal world I would not take that much of her income but needs must. It does rile me that some pp on here do not realise how low income single parents have to manage and do the "I would never charge my DC to live in their home" spiel.

I was 17 years old when I moved in with my 18 year old boyfriend, his 16 year old brother and his 15 year old sister. His mum doesnt work and is receiving the very minimum benefits. In the 4 years Ive lived here She has never wanted a penny off of any of us no matter how often we have offered. We all cope just fine, more than fine infact.
