My 14 year old daughter wants to start plucking her eyebrows,should I let her?

Shes pretty with dark brunette hair. She really jealous of her 16 year old sister who plucks her eyebrows and has amazing waist length blonde hair,and now she wants to start plucking hers,should I let her?

Take her to have them done. My local place is a fiver for threading. Saves the mess someone inexperienced can do plucking them

Yes. My mother banned me from doing mine and I was the only girl in school with a monobrow. I looked like bloody Liam gallagher

Does she need to pluck them ? My dd has very dark heavy brows but they are an amazing shape, Ive banned her from going near tweezers

Maybe get them threaded instead?

I really don't get this 'letting her' malarky. She's 14. I just started plucking mine I didn't have to ask.

Definitely have them done professionally. Over plucked brows done by teens can ruin their looks and be hard to correct

Yeah of course!! :) They're only eyebrows. It's hard to do it wrong and I don't see why she'd ask permission anyway. Part of growing up, innit!

The only thing I've ever had done at the beauticians has been my eyebrows. £10 every 6-8 weeks and no fussing. Waxing or threading though I prefer getting them waxed as I think it gives a longer lasting result.

How were you planning to stop her?

would she not just start if she wanted to?
best to warn her though that they may not grow back! this happened to a friend of mine but luckily she had done a good job.
Be sure she knows to pluck from underneath not above.

God know, I think home-plucked eyebrows on teenagers look terrible. If she has "problem" eyebrows take her to a really good specialist salon.

DD has been having her unruly eyebrows waxed since she was 12. It makes a huge difference.

I don't really understand why she asked, at her age I just started doing things like plucking my eyebrows, dying my hair etc - do agree it'd be nice for her to get them done though, they have brow bars in some boots and super drug now where you don't need an appointment

god yes my dd would have a monobrow if i didnt let her poor kids hates them she has been having them done since she was 10 on and off and regularly since she was at least 14 I wouldnt allow your dd free with a pair of tweazers (sp) as i have seen some over plucked brows take her to get them waxed or threaded

I'd go for somewhere professional. I started over plucking mine when young and now have random bald patches

I plucked mine as a teen but don't remember needing to have permission. When I fucked them up, it was my own fault! All part of growing up I guess. I would advise her to have them threaded instead though, it only costs a fiver and does a far better job.

I have seen the new look for girls is shaving them off and drawing then in EEEEKKK

My 13yo has been getting hers threaded for about a year. I'm well jel, they look great.

This is going to sound terrible. Oh hell I've had a glass of wine I'm going to say it. I sometimes wish my 14 yo would have her eyebrows done. I would obviously never, ever mention it to her because she is clearly happy with them, which is not great.

Eyebrows can be horribly over plucked and ruined. I agree with everyone who says take her to get them done professionally.

does she do them herself thorn if you think they are a bit iffy drop hints to her about threading

Yes definitely. My daughter is really good at doing her eyebrows. She has even done mine! Get her to watch a few instructional vids on you tube first.

I do both DD(16) & DS(14) brows! DD had hers done professionally the 1st time aged 14 & we were both in tears for an hour, they looked awful, too grown-up & shaped, so she has just asked me to tidy them since. Couldn't believe it when DS asked me to sort his mono recently, felt very privileged.

I have decided to let her. ;-)
