Shes pretty with dark brunette hair. She really jealous of her 16 year old sister who plucks her eyebrows and has amazing waist length blonde hair, and now she wants to start plucking hers, should I let her?

but my measure was if they are asking then things are bothering them my eldest dd never said a thing about her and over plucked till she had none left almost I just wish she had said something to me

thornrose · 23/03/2014 17:49

mrsjay she is completely au naturel, she has never shown an interest in her brows bless her.

Only1scoop · 23/03/2014 17:51

14 is when I started having my 'Brooke Sheilds' eyebrows shaped professionally.

40 for the lip n chin Blush

midwifeandmum · 23/03/2014 17:52

yes let her do it. I wasnt allowed so I took a razor to my monobrow and ended up with 2 half eyebrows. I was 13 lol

justaweeone · 23/03/2014 18:00

I would. My Dd has been doing them herself since she was about 14 years with a bit of help from me.
However just been to Benefit to have them done at this

They did a fab job and she is thrilled(she is 16 year now)

NurseyWursey · 23/03/2014 18:01

Just make sure she has a good pair of tweezers, tweezerman are good. I've got a kit by HD brows that is really good too

Hulababy · 23/03/2014 18:04

I'd encourage her to have them done properly somewhere - threading is quick and effective.

Have seen some friends who have the after effects of over plucking as teens - now have pretty much no eyebrows left and they miss them as adults.

if she isnt bothered then i would leave it dd has upper lip hair i never know if i should say something to her or not Blush

thornrose · 23/03/2014 18:08

She has that too mrs it's a bloody minefield isn't it!

mrsjay · 23/03/2014 18:11

aye it is I am quite open about most things but i would never want to hurt her feelings or embarrass her so I dont say anything as it might not be bothering her

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/03/2014 18:11

Mrsjay some facials I've had, they offer to whip off any upper lip hair as part of the treatment. You could always go and have a pampering day together?

thornrose · 23/03/2014 18:13

Same mrsjay!

Martorana · 23/03/2014 18:15

I am really concerned about this "letting her" business- she's 14, not 4!

mrsjay · 23/03/2014 19:25

I think the op is just confused as to what the right age rather than letting well that is how I read it, andI I am not the pamper sort of woman i dont like gloop on my face

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 23/03/2014 19:30

I over plucked mine, they never grew back. Take her for threading, much better look.

Nocomet · 23/03/2014 19:36

I hope neither of my DDs ask me about eyebrows.
I haven't a clue mine are very shaggy, but live under my glasses and my fringe, so I don't care.

Wouldn't have the foggiest idea where to go or what to advise.

mrsjay · 23/03/2014 19:38

just send them to one of those beauty bars in town to get them waxed most hairdressers will do it too these days , thats what i did she said oh i dont like my eyebrows too bushy oh ok lets go here and let somebody else deal with them

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2014 20:05

DD(14) has had her eyebrows shaped by her friend for about a year. I can't imagine her asking whether she is allowed toConfused

Nocomet · 23/03/2014 20:10

I don't even know what a beauty bar is. I've never had my legs waxed or anything other than have my hair dyed.

I can find a million better things to spend money on than have someone inflict pain.

I don't get female beauty stuff at all, I shave my legs in summer because an irritating convention says I have to, but I'd much rather not bother.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/03/2014 20:39

Fair enough mrsjay. Grin I don't mind the gloop but it does drive me crackers just lying there for an hour, pretending it's relaxing.

Fuck, I've got first world problems.

mrsjay · 23/03/2014 20:40

och as long as you look fabulous it is worth it andifeel

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 23/03/2014 20:44
Grin
NearTheWindymill · 23/03/2014 20:48

My dd is 15 and not especially vain or "in". Her legs bothered her (blonde and not that bad) so I took her to have them waxed, her eyebrows bothered her, so I took her to have them threaded, I persuaded her to have her hair highlighted recently. She is a natural blonde but she has gone a bit darker lately. I helped her with her armpits when she got subconscious when she was 10. Oh, and she has a veneer on her front teeth because of a little gap that bothered her. And the problem with any of that is? Especially when it helps with self esteem and helps to teach about good grooming.

She is a hard working nerd who doesn't run with the herd. She has every right to feel good about herself.

LynetteScavo · 23/03/2014 20:52

Absolutely!

I started plucking mine with my fingers when I was 12, because I didn't have any tweezers. I will be guiding DD in the art of eyebrow shaping.

fairbalance · 23/03/2014 21:33

When I started plucking mine as a teenager I loved the little black bulb that came out when you plucked. Its like a black head :)
