I love my teens, and currently feeling rather maudlin that dd2, just turned 19 is off to pastures new soon and all her wondrous friends too.
She had birthday party here for about 12 at the weekend and her friend mixed me a rather excellent G&T( she'd brought the gin) and they all loved the curry I made for them. When I came down in the morning the kitchen was spotless and I got lots of hugs and thank yous from them all as the said goodbye.
It was the same with DD1(21) and her mates and I still miss the life they brought into the home too.
My 2 younger ones 12 and 13 and have yet to develop much of a social life, but so far no extremes of bad behaviour either.
As Pagwatch said people post here in times of crisis.
IME my teens have needed a lot of listening time and advise/guidance about emotions, school stress and relationships but so far I have not had any anti social stuff like drugs, drinking ,unsuitable friendships, or dangerous behaviour to deal with.
Obviously we do get mood swings but I think that goes with the territory and I do 'joke' that somtimes my DS is all 7 dwarves rolled into one:happy, grumpy, hungry, dopey, sleepy etc but i never know which one will roll in from school
