Who's booking new ink for 2022?

Just paid a deposit for a very bright new piece on my forearm in April. Most excited.
Anyone else got anything booked?

How are we all?
My Disney piece was done yesterday and I'm in awe of it atm So bright! I keep looking at it in disbelief that its my arm.

How are you @NowYouListenToMeFella ? Have you come to peace with yours?

To be honest I just don't think about it anymore. I rarely catch sight of it. I might at some point go elsewhere and see if they can make it a little less dark in the arse of one of the cats.

Oh no, that’s a shame. I wonder if maybe adding to it or ‘titivating’ as my late mother would say might make you happier? I don’t think they can lighten without lasering first unfortunately but they might be able to add around it? You need to find an artist now you trust to work with what you have. Scour Instagram and google images along the theme of your work and go from there. Don’t be put off, you can get to something you love.

Absolutely not to everyone’s taste at all but I love it. First tattoo Ive even shown DH and he’s reacted with ‘wow’.
Absolutely outed myself now though haha.

And don’t despair, one of the best tattoos I’ve ever seen started off terribly. This was a REALLY bad Pokémon tattoo. It demonstrates what a really good artist can do. X

I’ve just booked in with my tattooist for next thur. I have lots of little tatts rather than big pieces so this one is a pair of cherries 🍒 but the cherries are skulls. It’s my birthday tomo so a little present to me 😁

I absolutely love that style. There is a very talented metal artist I follow on Instagram who has similar, wonderful random little words and symbols that fill her arms and are in some way meaningful. Skull cherries sound amazing!

This is the first lower arm tattoo I've had and I must admit it's very different to my upper sleeves. For starters, I didn't realise just how tricky it was to heal a 'ditch' tattoo (bend of the arm) and this goes slightly into it so I've now spent three days with a very straight arm to try and help matters.
Positioning has also meant that I've got some spectacular bruising this time, more than ever before, but the forearm is a lot more delicate.

None of this will put me off having the other side done, but I'm glad I have the time to be able to just sit and do nothing.

I had this done on my outer calf at the end of Jan

It was definitely the most painful place I've had tattooed and my leg and foot were swollen for a good week afterwards. However I am already planning my other calf so it can't be that bad eh

Was literally just sat here wondering about getting a new tattoo, I haven't had one in years (because all my money goes on my kids!) But I fancy a floral cat of some description, maybe on my leg. Have 6 tattoos but it's literally been about 8 years since I had my last one

@WeDontTalkAboutBruno The healing can be worse than actually getting inked sometimes. Hard to sleep on and forever trying to avoid the kids bashing into it! Hope it heals ok for you

Bruno thank god you have a few days of nothing to get a bit of healing done. Thanks for the Pokémon pic, perhaps I would be better off adding to mine rather than getting a cover up.

I have been doing some research and have found two artists that I like the look off. Both of their books are closed at the moment. I will get onto the shops and see about a consultation. I don't mind waiting.

Proud of this bruise 😂 Starting to flake a little now so on top of the moisturising. I was recommended something called Butterluxe this time and it's really rather good. I've been using it on the dry skin on my face as well and it's been great.

@rainbowsandwaterfalls beautiful! I love that style. And thats exactly it isn't it? We'll sit and moan through the healing and then book the next one... I'm already thinking about the back of this arm, and then still have the other one to go at hehe

@1984Winston I think you get to a point where you have a bit more disposable income and can justify the tattoos. For me personally I tend to put Birthday and Christmas money into it, plus anything I come into along the way.

@NowYouListenToMeFella Sounds like a plan. Get a feel for the artist and keep an eye on social media for their books opening again. A good artist is almost always a busy one.

Holy crap that is some bruise. You poor thing. Not sure why adding more into it didn't occur to me before. Will keep an eye on the instagrams to see when books open.

I went for a consult in another tattoo shop today. One of the ones I liked on Instagram. Out of tattoo place. She was lovely.

Said she can’t work a miracle on it and that it was badly done. Not all in my own head, thank god.

The options are I could get it covered and get the original tattoo redone on another part. Or she can round out Tom’s arse, fix his tail, make Dave’s tail a bit more fluffy. Do some shading on his body to give it a bit of shape. Then add some foliage and shading around them. Kind of framing them and giving it a bit of depth.

No pressure at all. She was like I won't book you in now as I want you to take your time thinking about it. She sketched out a quick drawing for me. It felt a fairly positive experience and I like the drawing.

Bruno it was a far more positive experience that's for sure. Having mulled it over the last few days I think I'll go slow and steady with it. Will get her to do the fixes on the cats first. If it still doesn't look great I can always go back for more. If it does look good I'd be happy to leave it.

I really want another tattoo, but I’ve no idea what and I’m not in the slightest bit artistic!

How do you all get your ideas and designs?

Up to now I’ve found things in Pinterest and they’ve adapted them slightly for me. I’d now like something small on my foot, but don’t want the usual butterfly etc. I love stars and moons themes, or the sea, but everything I find online seems quite generic. Any ideas for good places to look for designs?

I also have a tattoo I’d like fixing, it has writing and I don’t like the font, unsure what to ask for. I don’t have a photo on my phone, but will try and take one soon.

For a god Artist you can go to them with the seed of an idea and they work from that. If you have a rough idea what you are looking for then have a good old google, search Instagram etc and find examples of things you like. Collate those and take them to your artist to show what you like. They can then come up with something that’s tailored to you and the area you’re looking at filling.

Cover ups and re works can be possible but so much depends on size etc. black will always cover but you need to be able to work that into what you have i guess. Again, find an artist you trust and see what can be done really.

@NowYouListenToMeFella that sounds a good idea. You’ve had a poor experience so working slowly is a plan. You’ll get there.

WeDontTalkAboutBruno more mulling over done this week. Have decided to get some laser removal done. When it is light enough to get it redone I'll do that. Was onto the lady I had the consult with last week and she said it is a very good decision and she'll make sure I have a good experience when the time comes. She recommended a place for the removal. She said all the people working in the shop get their old ones removed.

Ugh, I'm so jealous of you all. I miss that new tattoo feeling! I'm way too full to get any more really unless I get something on my neck or face which I don't really want 😂 maybe I can fit in a small one somewhere...

Well, today was the day for more work on my lower Disney arm, turned out it could be completed in two panels so my very talented artist set to work and my lower sleeve is now complete.
it’s been a long day, a long journey to get there and a long sitting but bloody hell I feel it’s worth it. It’s so bright. I love it. The children in the balloon are representing my two children.

and now I’m going to sleep for at least ten hours 😂
