Just paid a deposit for a very bright new piece on my forearm in April. Most excited.
Anyone else got anything booked?

I have mine booked for the 20th 😁 so excited. Only got my last one last month 😁

Thanks everyone. Hopefully just first timers panic and with a few small tweaks and it will be what I want.

@ChastainsMisery

Do you mind having to wait until June Chastain?

No, I could've had an appointment end of April/early May but I'm currently training for a long distance triathlon in June and can't really take 2 weeks out from swimming so it's booked for a few days after the race!!

That's very impressive. How long is the swim in that?

Ok deep breath. It’s fresh, the colours will be completely off kilter because of the swelling etc, which can also distort it a bit. Give it a week or two to settle, I’m sure it’s not that bad, and if you’re. To happy as others have said things can be tweaked.

You’re not at the “ruddy great bat on the chest” stage yet (yep, that’s me, large, black, pretty uncoverable and on my breastbone. You live and learn lol. Oh and I’m terrified of bats!!) When DD had her first tattoo I told her to set the design she wanted as wallpaper on her phone, and if after six months she was still happy to look at it then to go ahead with my blessing. Sadly that advice came from me waking up one morning and deciding I wanted a bat.

Bruno that's so funny that you have a big bat and are scared of them.

Sorry for the thread derail with my panic. Will just be patient and see what it looks like after it's healed.

Booked my next one today :) A fabulous Egyptian Queen and I can’t wait. I’m quite liking the idea of building a historical theme, already got an idea for a Grecian design...

@NowYouListenToMeFella How did you get on today?

NowYouListenToMeFella · 17/01/2022 15:16

Hi JD. I emailed the shop this morning asking if I could call in on Saturday for a review and to chat through possible solutions. Said I liked the stencil but thought the tattoo was quite different.

They emailed back saying that's fine and that it couldn't be touched for 6 weeks while it was healing.

I'll see how it goes on Saturday. If no satisfaction I will look into other options.

JDaytona · 17/01/2022 15:22

That's good news. Hopefully they'll happily make the changes for you for no charge. Maybe the artist was just having an off day and looking at it again will understand.

I bet it'll only take an hour or so to have it fixed.

CthulhuInDisguise · 17/01/2022 15:28

I'm planning my first tattoo - a memorial one for my late DH. I'm really nervous! But it will be Polaroid style, one behind the other. The back one will be the London skyline and Basil the Great Mouse Detective (representing me and my fave Disney character) and the Epcot ball and Grumpy on the front one with his handwriting saying "love you always" representing him and his fave character.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 17/01/2022 16:30

Yeah I feel a bit better about it now. Was worried that they might be awkward about it. Hopefully we can work something out.

That sounds lovely CthulhuInDisguise. Have you decided when you are going to get it done?

Nuca · 20/01/2022 16:13

I had this done a couple of weeks ago. Also have a large flower piece on the thigh of the same leg in the same style, so going to add more this year but no idea what to add yet!

Ooh that's nice. Is that inside of the calf? If so what was the pain level compared to other places?

JDaytona · 20/01/2022 16:16

@NowYouListenToMeFella how did you get on talking to the tattooist?

Nuca · 20/01/2022 16:17

@JDaytona it's on my shinGrin. The first 3 or 4 hours were fine, but the last hour was horrible with him packing in all the colour. Definitely wasn't as painful as some others I've had

Ooh, I'm contemplating a shin tattoo, but I wasn't sure how bad it would be - I found back of calf absolutely terrible. But I was fine with back and thigh!

What areas did you find worse?

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 20/01/2022 16:23

I need to get the other half of my back done
Then I have two others I want but no idea where to put them!
One is a haunted house/graveyard design, one is a craft quote in a heart

Nuca · 20/01/2022 16:28

@JDaytona I have a mandala on the other shin and that one hardly hurt at all. The back of my calf was definitely more tender than my shins. My sternum and my knee are the ones I've found the worst. Would never ever go through that again!

Ah interesting. I thought shin would be worse than the back of the calf! I honestly burst into tears after 7 hours on my calf.

Maybe I'll brave the shin.

They seemed fine about me calling in. I'll be a bag of nerves Saturday but hopefully they can come up with something.

Nuca that's a lovely tattoo.

JDaytona · 20/01/2022 19:00

Oh excellent, so they're going to correct it for you?

JDaytona · 20/01/2022 20:29

@Nuca Ok just spoken to a friend and she says she fainted having her shin done 😂

Maybe you're very tough when it comes to tattoo pain?

Nuca · 20/01/2022 20:43

@JDaytona maybe I’m just hard as nails thenGrin I find it so interesting how it’s so varied and everyone’s experiences are so different. I’ve had ones that really hurt and other people said are fine, and then ones I expected to be painful weren’t too bad

Yeah I think people feel things differently, I've been fine with wrists and forearms, my friend has feet tattoos and thought wrists were worse.

Weird isn't it. Maybe I'll go with thigh for my booked one and ask for something tiny on my shin just to test it out. Grin

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 20/01/2022 20:49

My back wasn't fun, I was nearly snarling by the end of it and had to be drenched in bactine after 5hrs
Then I had my wrist tattoo retouched on the same day Grin
