Quick post from me...

Thank you so much for all your words of support and encouragement. Its really helped me try and "process" the biggest shock of my life, and start to think about how it can work and be OK. I am feeling much better than I was on Friday, and am even getting closer to agreeing that twins are a gift. Those of you who have twin experience, your messages have been especially helpful. Thanks again!

Meet up last night was great, I really enjoyed it! As no doubt seen by my constant, over excited talking . But to meet ladies who are mothers and like to shop and look good - as DH solemnly said "yes, you will enjoy yourself".

Apuski - yay, so pleased for you and baby A!! A little is better than nothing or even, God forbid, weight loss. Hope it continues!!

DH is out w DD so enjoying some quiet time (ie about to scurry off and do some twin research...).

notyummy · 18/07/2010 19:25

So glad you all had a good time - if a bot jealous!

ANOTHER birthday party today - but a lot easier when it is not you doing the organising.

Pics of THE CAKE and the birthday girl now on profile.

Apuski - glad to hear that the weight is moving in the right direction. Fingers crossed for the jaundice.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/07/2010 20:50

apuski - Hope DS continues to put on weight and that jaundice will be over soon. Some visitors can sometimes be so insensitive when you have a newborn and don't see when you need to give you some space.

notyummy - Oh the cake looks terrific and your DD is absolutely gorgeous!

bunny - Hope you enjoyed your quiet time this afternoon.

blossoming · 18/07/2010 21:00

Oh notyummy, where do I begin? Amazing cake, beautiful daughter. I'm sure she was thrilled with it!

Sorry can't do any links of purchases as dh is behind with some work and needs Internet connection, and my friend and daughter are coming tomorrow and sleeping in the computer room. They were supposed to come on Tuesday so dh is stressed.

Had a lovely day, and I did wear my lovely boots! One of the mums had fly mols on so I've decided I won't wear mine anymore! Well they did leak the other day. In answer to your question fritzi, we generally have nice weather in June, then rain in July and August. When it is sunny it is beautiful beyond belief because of the lush green colours after all the rain!!

What boots can I buy? They need to be hardwearing and waterproof.

My hair was well received. I've now had the whole spectrum of hair lengths! In uni I had a Sinead O'Connor cut, then at it's longest, think Courtney Cox, then Anne Hathaway (TDWP) with original fringe, and now this. My hair is fine and I never tied it back. It looks nice and thick at this length. This might be my favourite length yet.

eshermummy · 18/07/2010 21:10

Blossoming - glad you like your new haircut. I have very fine hair too and so I know how difficult it is to get it right and the utter joy when you do

NY - amazing cake and your dd is very cute, very pretty dress she has on.

Apuski - glad a has put on, even if it is only a little, at least things are going in the right direction.

Meet-up was great fun. I can confirm that everyone was v glam, v friendly and generally all round fabulous

DH (who is a massive enabler) has suggested that we might want to incorporate some actual rl shopping into the next meet-up, so maybe a morning shopping followed by a late-ish lunch?

traceybath · 18/07/2010 21:15

Notyummy - brilliant cake and very lovely DD.

Apuski - yeay for the weight gain! With DD I just hid upstairs in my room for the first few days I was home and let mil deal with the children/house. Was mainly because DS2 was at the very contagious stage of chicken pox and I didn't want newborn DD to get it. But actually my little babymoon was lovely.

Talking of which can not believe she's going to be one on Friday.

So am going away tomorrow for a couple of days to my mothers and then back to prepare for in-laws coming and more family coming on sunday for bbq providing the weather is nice.

Any good ideas for lovely bbq food and salads?

Tried on london purchases earlier and very pleased with them.

Bought a white shirt in Banana Republic and a lovely grey shirt dress - both for £45 as in the sale.

And a lovely mac in Comptoir also in the sale.

I did think selfridges was looking a bit shabby though.

Tried on loads of jeans as I want some slim legged indigo ones for AW - not skinny but not bootcut but ideally so they will go down over heels and make my stumpy legs look longer.

blossoming · 18/07/2010 21:18

Was everyone v drunk?

OllieWollieWoo · 18/07/2010 21:28

Who wore the highest shoes? .

Maryqueenofchocs · 18/07/2010 21:29

Traceybath did you get to Massimo Dutti?

FritziGreenEyes · 18/07/2010 21:35

How many of you wore VWA?

OllieWollieWoo · 18/07/2010 21:37

notyummy - what a great cake! Bet DD was thrilled! Pat on the back for you and Mr Notyummy!

Apuski v pleased about the weight gain. DS1 had the same problem - didnt need to be admitted but we had to catch a wee sample in a testtube (literally) and drive it across London to St Thomas's !!!! Think I've mentioned on here before how someone in a cafe leant over and suggested I didnt allow DS to get as much sun in future - I hissed back he had jaundice not a sun tan!!!

OllieWollieWoo · 18/07/2010 21:39

What was the W&A cocktail of choice?

traceybath · 18/07/2010 21:42

Mary - I did go to massimo but it was full of end of sale stuff as were most shops to be honest - zara scared me - it was like a jumble sale.

OWW - Choo had on amazing Choos - they were utterly gorgeous. Everyone looked exceedingly glam and young and very slim indeed.

Esher - I meant to say last night - if you've put on weight - well you must have been a teeny tiny waif before as you are still teeny.

What do we feel about lace up boots? I saw some marc jacobs ones in one of this months glossies - chocolate brown and just above ankle - thought they could look quite good. Obviously a cheaper version though.

OllieWollieWoo · 18/07/2010 21:44
notyummy · 18/07/2010 21:46

Tracey- I love the look of lace ups and am contemplating some myself.

Can't help thinking all these people who saw you together in London yesterday must gave wondered what uber cool workplace you coterie of goddesses could possibly come from!

LetThemEatCake · 18/07/2010 22:07

great cake NY and great news on weight gain apuski. Love the sound of your ostrich dress fritzi would love to see a photo!

everyone indeed very gorgeous last night. tracey is poster girl for "you can have 3 dc and still be uber slender" and agree that esher's so-called weight gain means that she was waif before (still very waifish now and looks far too young to be mum of 2)

bunny is glowingly radiant pregnant lady with fabulous legs, Choo is Halle Berry in super-sexy VWA and gorgeous Choos and EIE is sparkling sashay-er with fab shoes and gorgeous glossy hair and glowy skin.

Only disappointment was that MM couldn't make it after all

Prosecco was drink of choice, with mocktails for bunny

I wore this dress with fitted leather jacket and, always one to wear a pricey dress with a cheap shoe, or vice versa these shoes

tracey sorry about your epic journey home, and as for greasy haired sleepy person esher - eeeew!!!

tracey I have those ankle-length lace up boots from NL a few months ago, remember? I love them, will deffo dig out again when the weather turns

4 year old's birthday party this arvo .. was very civilised, on the whole. Must get organised on Miss P's - 2 weeks to go, though so no massive hurry ...

OP posts:
eshermummy · 18/07/2010 22:08

Tracey - straight back atcha

Choo's Choos were indeed swoonsome, as was her mulberry clutch.
In fact, speaking of mulberry I am muchos taken with this for A/W - I like the way the strap is brown so could wear with both brown or black boots. Plus cross the body is molto practico for school run/pushing pram/holding toddler hands etc.

Tracey I say yes to lace up boots - do you mean slightly gothic/victorian governess ones. I like those but I have my heart set on a suede wedge bootee to wear with black opaques.

Prosecco was the drink of choice (apart from Bunny on the mocktails!). Definitely no drunkeness.

LetThemEatCake · 18/07/2010 22:09

esher your dh is bloody brilliant!!

OP posts:
eshermummy · 18/07/2010 22:15

Ooooh yes, Tracey and Choo's VWA's were lovely - am deffo going to try and get myself one for A/W. Seemingly effortless elegance & sexiness combined.
Cakey also waiflike but tall - such long legs!! And her feet looked normal sized to me, despite the constant bigfoot refs

LetThemEatCake · 18/07/2010 22:16

I want this skirt Yay or nay? I have rather brown legs (albeit horrid fat knees) and would wear with plain tank and flat glads ...

OP posts:
eshermummy · 18/07/2010 22:17

Yes, DH was actually slightly bemused that our meet-up this time hadn't been scheduled to include any retail therapy (apart from Tracey natch).

LetThemEatCake · 18/07/2010 22:18

ooh, x-post with esher

OP posts:
traceybath · 18/07/2010 22:19

Oh I love love love that skirt - would also work in winter.

And fat knees - I don't think so! Said in best oprah voice.

Agree - shopping and lunch sounds fab! Esher - your DH does indeed sound brilliant.

eshermummy · 18/07/2010 22:22

Cake - I like skirt but would want to inspect closely as heavily embellished things sometimes have a habit of unravelling and thus looking v cheap v quickly (and it's not exactly cheap is it?) but if the fabric/stitching was good quality then I say yes although would prob be too short for me (not confident about my legs) but on your coltish limbs would be fine.

eshermummy · 18/07/2010 22:24

OK ladies, chores are calling before bed.
Nighty night.
