Thanks guys. They are in Edinburgh, we are in Surrey. Going up there on Friday for my birthday weekend - god willing. It has really shaken me to the core.

They were on their way to church when it happened. So lots of prayers have been offered.

notyummy · 10/07/2010 22:29

hf - really feel for you. I had the same 2 years ago when my dad fell off a ladder. Seriously injured his leg but tbh could have been much worse. They ate 4 hours away from us and I felt awful not being able to help straight away. Hope he is allowed out tomorrow and that it doesn't knock his confidence too much.

God, it is so hot here. Dd sleeping in her pants under duvet cover only, but still soaked in sweat bless her. Just been into her room to switch a fan on. we have an enormous conservatory/ family room that in most ways us great ( and was main reason we bought the house) however in high summer it actually heats up the whole if the back wall if our house- including her bedroom.

notyummy · 10/07/2010 22:31

May actually have to start previewing my posts at current error rates...

LetThemEatCake · 10/07/2010 22:31

hf am so sorry. What a shock. Adding my prayers to those already offered.

janeite I don't have any VW, sorry. But am glad you finally do! I am a big fun of shoving stuff in a pillowcase and washing on the handwash/ delicates cycle in the washing machine.

It's just rubbish when you live so far away. He is 81. Mum is 77. She just deals with things if you know what I mean - you can tell she is very upset though.

Dh is close to my dad too and he looks very sad. Anyway I am going to get a glass of reddo now.

Our house is so hot too NY - like a furnace upstairs.

LetThemEatCake · 10/07/2010 22:38

a big fan

Reine you are very kind. I am actually a squawking, indignant shrew on the inside. Being worried about wrinkles and shriek lines keeps me outwardly calm

My Burn off Belly Fat Fast-DVD arrived today. Still in its wrapper as it was too hot here today to do any exercise [pathetic excuse]. Had a lovely long siesta instead and friends over for BBQ this evening.

carciofi - I ordered a couple of pyjamas and vests from Hush.

hf - Hope your dad is ok! Do you live far from your parents or can you go and see him soon?

marsha

hells - We had a headlice warning in DD's kindergarten last week. I'm frantically checking her head and taking notes. Hope you get rid of them before you go on holiday.

reine - I love your sewing project! DD is not into Barbies yet and dressing her cuddly piglet in leopardskin seems somehow wrong . He got a nightshirt instead (pic on profile if you care...)

Fleecy · 10/07/2010 23:48

Hi everyone,

Procedure went fine, drugs were wonderful, I have an inflamed colon so looking like IBS but we'll see. Not too worried. Slept and lay in the garden reading most of yesterday, Doctors orders you know

everything hope you're having a lovely time - bet you look amazing.

janeite I handwash mine in cool water. Don't usually spend that much money on one thing so would worry about ruining it!

hf so sorry to hear about your Dad

I did a 90min dance class this morning. Think I must have lost several pounds in sweat I haven't lost weight for a few weeks now but am slimmer. Think it's like someone said, I'm building muscle so I'm slowly burning more calories and losing fat but weight not changing. I don't mind as I look better regardless of weight so who cares. Vain!

Lovely day here - spent time in the garden while the DC napped, let them sleep a bit longer then drove them up to the coast late afternoon for a walk and paddle on the beach followed by sausage, chips and ice cream on the promenade and a walk along the pier. Good old British seaside stuff. We came back around 8pm and it was still about 25 or something daft. The house was awfully hot when we got back as we'd had to shut all the windows before we went. I'm afraid I sacrificed style for comfort and wore khaki shorts and a navy vest over the bikini I'd worn in the garden.

bunnymother · 10/07/2010 23:49

Hf - oh no, hope your dad is ok. And your poor mum, she must be v shaken. And no doubt you v worried too.

Marsha - I will die the moment there is any collision between RL and MN. Would def freeze up. Then bolt.

Apuski - oh what a darling baby boy!!

blossoming · 11/07/2010 06:40

Morning everyone.
So sorry to hear of your dad's fall hf. Hope things are better this morning.

Good luck today ltec.

Off to my brother's this pm by the beach. But yesterday I sat in and watched the rain all day. There must be a north/south split. We haven't seen the sun for 2 weeks!

Debating whether to send dh to chapel after my debacle last week.

notyummy · 11/07/2010 08:06

Fleecy - glad the procedure went well. I have a coue of friends with ibs and they seem to have some really good strategies for managing it.

Feels a lot cooler here today. Bit of a relief tbh!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/07/2010 08:53

fleecy - Glad you are feeling ok! Your day out yesterday sounds bliss.

hf - Hope your dad is better today!

We don't have any decent Sunday papers but I found this in the NYT online if anyone is interested.

FritziGreenEyes · 11/07/2010 08:54

Forgot to say: Good luck with the picnic today cake!

hf128219 · 11/07/2010 11:38

Fleecy Glad it went well.

LTEC Yes, good luck today.

Well it seems that my dad has had some sort of seizure. They are running more blood tests today. But he has had a comfortable night and is sitting up in bed.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts and have good, and happy, days.

monkeysmama · 11/07/2010 12:06

Hf that's so hard. I really hope he is ok.

Cakey good luck today mate.

Been at mates near Esher for weekend. Has great fun. Off to picnic with dad and little sisters now .

River Island haul arrived. Mostly staying - denim dress that will replace a very old Moschino one. I like things like that for park. Lovely black t shirt with kind of shiny studs all over. Nice "burnished" embellished cream tee, long sleeve red stripy tee - easy to wear things. Teeny tiny "graffiti" brighlty coloured skirt I'll wear on holiday with a plain black vest. All in sale.

My Blochs came without the returns label attached too. Am returning the gold pendant I bought at same time. It's a very garish gold colour and not me at all.

My Antik Batik Lolas have broken. I got them
for asos last month and have worn them
maybe 5 times but I noticed one baubles had galled on and suddenly when I moved my foot (which I tend to do when I walk ) another 4 fell off. They're unwearable now. Have emailed asos but worried they'll not do anything.

AllBuggiedOut · 11/07/2010 14:03

Perfect picture Apuski thank you so much for sharing it with us.

hf so sorry about your dad.

riene I certainly haven't lost and weight since shredding - I think what I should have done is measured myself before I started as I do like to have some kind of measure of how my body is changing (hence my obsessive weighing myself ). But I suspect the biggest changes I'll see from shredding have already happened so it seems a bit pointess now.

I agree that hard manual labour combined with serious chemicals is the way to deal with headlice! I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but I read that they don't like tea tree oil. Since then I've been using this on the DS's hair and they haven't had headlice since.

Some shocking outfits at the music festival yesterday - and some very sore looking shoulders where people really should have used sunblock! Some of the teenage girls clearly hadn't expected it to be quite so hot and were walking round in bra and shorts I was v pleased with Hasbeens & jumpsuit combo. The jumpsuit is absolutely perfect now I've taken out the padded cups!

Hope everybody's having a good day - and have fun tonight ladies! I hope to get a full de-brief later!

AllBuggiedOut · 11/07/2010 14:04

Hang on, I've got my days mixed up haven't I - is meet-up next week?

notyummy · 11/07/2010 14:47

Yep, ABO - next saturday.

I can't go either...

traceybath · 11/07/2010 15:00

Afternoon.

HF - hope your father is ok - very worrying for you all though.

Apuski - ooooh so sweet - must not look at baby photos though as broodiness most definitely not allowed.

Had lovely evening out last night but again - 2 kir royales and feel utterly dreadful today. I just can't drink more than one small glass of wine it seems any more.

Popped into town earlier though despite hangover as felt it would be more restful than looking after the dc's . Comptoir have very good sale on and bought a grey jersey dress, navy tulip shape mini skirt and cornflower blue silk t-shirt all for just over a £100 - some of it was 75% off.

I am so obsessing about what to wear next saurday - I feel so fat at the moment it will possibly be a tent.

Right better get on as baby napping and boys out with daddy biking in the woods with friends.

LTEC - hope you're having fun!

Esher - how was the ball last night?

NY - any update on job situation?

And where are MrsJ, Dolcee and Vin?

carciofi · 11/07/2010 15:13

Apuski, he is gorgeous and has a great head of hair!

HF, sorry about your dad.

Blossoming, I'm sure eBay will see that you tried to reimburse the buyer and close the dispute against you.

MM, Asos have pretty good customer services, I think.

Fleecy, glad you got on ok.

Figleaves 20% off code: fighac

janeite · 11/07/2010 15:15

Letthemeatcake and Fleecy - thanks for the VW help. I think a cool handwash inside a pillow case might work - I am sooooo scared of ruining it.

Fleecy - do you iron yours, or does it sort of fall back into place by itself? And how cool is cool water?!

OllieWollieWoo · 11/07/2010 15:19

Gorgeous pic Apuski - I bet everyone like me when Ahhhh when we opened it! Newborn babies are just so sweet.

HF - glad your Dad is ok today. Awful shock for everyone when something like that happens.

Had friends over for BBQ today - its sweltering here (sorry Blossoming!). Made scones as saw some clotted cream in the supermarket here (a rare occurance) and forgot to serve them - so am now resisting the urge to scoff the lot myself!

Looking forward to the footie later. Have orange bunting up in the garden and on the tree in the front garden! (when in Rome......)

Where is Bunjies? Did you buy anything in the French sales?

traceybath · 11/07/2010 15:19

Janeite - I'll get mine drycleaned - much less stressful

janeite · 11/07/2010 15:22

Really Tracey? I wondered about it but the label says hand wash.

FritziGreenEyes · 11/07/2010 16:04

OWW - We're also getting our Vuvuzela ready for tonight

Sending some heat and sunshine to blossoming

tracey - Comptoir haul sounds great. I love the shop but in ours the sales assistants are really strange and not helpful at all. Always emphasize that the sizes are in French, meaning "you need one size up because you will not fit into it".
