In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

OP posts:

Cute bag carciofi and has a long strap as well, v nice!! and what a pop colour for the dress, stunning

mm I know nothing about tailors etc, and cannot even sew on a button so ignore my advice.. but it's hard to tell from the pic of there is a seam at the sides? That would make it easier to unpick and then take in. If there isn't, they would have to do it from the front where the panel of different fabric is. It's very lovely though.. I used to know someone amazing near russell square but not sure if they are still there. Nearer to you, do you know where the post office/west G library are? There's a dodgy co-op and it's all a bit grimy but there's a dry cleaners there with a guy who I think is Italian and they do lots of alterations at the back. They're really nice in there. Not sure they could carry out anything complicated though, but they're always taking things up for me.

well, no shopping from me I totally need a NAP hit- do we think the sale starteth tomorrow, perhaps? Had a moment of weakness in space NK though, bought lots of unnecessary things!

Oh although it won't be in the sale, I love this dress but they don't have what I think would be my size, it's v basic but I really like it. Also rather like chloe paraty handbag, saw someone looking amazing the other day in asda of all places! chloe bag, dvf spot dress, stella mccartney scarf, sigerson morrison shoes, fabulous jacket, etc.. she probably wondered why I was staring at her feet

On the subject of seeing people looking fabulous, I saw someone today looking horrendous! She was chunky of leg (fine) and wearing.... LEOPARD PRINT HAREMS! argh (not fine!)

made me smile though

vinauchocolat · 16/06/2010 19:12

marsha did BLWing accidentally with DD, she refused spoons/purees. It worked brilliantly, her favourite was houmous and pitta bread but it was good, she could eat normal meals wherever we were. Have started the same with DS. He has thus far chomped a banana a few times, and some steamed broccoli, he's quite happy with spoons though so will start proper BLWing when he's a bit bigger. I recommend it.

Mumsnut · 16/06/2010 19:22

Was it someone on here who wanted the Mint Velvet sequin bolero? 'Cos it is in the House of Fraser sale at less than half price; I think it is sold out on the MV website.

hellsbelles · 16/06/2010 19:41

carciofi - wonderful haul. Love the dress.

Dolcee. Although the website told me to do 2 days on the attack phase, I didn't lose ANYTHING(!!) in that first 2 days and ended up doing 6.

Fleecy · 16/06/2010 20:02

this came today, my eBay bargain, and luckily it fits perfectly. Yay!

All this talk of Dukan - am very of those of you slimming down. I haven't been able to exercise as much as I would have liked these last few weeks as work has been so busy. Back on it this week but have really missed it. And when I don't work out, I have to eat less if I want to lose the fat. And that does not make me happy.

Will be on holiday in three months so am keeping that in mind...

Also, have ordered my shop for first week in July when I will start Dukan so lots of poultry, fish, eggs and fat-free plain yoghurt coming. You will all be experts by then and I will pester you all for tips.

Loving your links beautiful ladies

eshermummy · 16/06/2010 20:11

Just read the latest maxi-bashing thread [yawn] and really have had to sit on my hands to stop myself posting a really stinging response - Tracey you are a saint Halo.

I really don't get how people can (despite not knowing the specifics of either the poster's size/shape/height or ANY details of the actual dress in question) can continually post along the lines of "No, you definitely look shit in that".
Fair enough to say "I wouldn't wear that" or, in the face of a specific item to say "I don't like that" but to actually say to people who are saying "I think I look nice" that they are basically deluded fantasisits when you haven't even seen them or their clothing....well that's just rude bizarre no?

eshermummy · 16/06/2010 20:12

fantasists

traceybath · 16/06/2010 20:17

Esher - I know - people are mad - I don't know why I get sucked in.

According to mn though unless you're a 5ft10 size 8 - you're not allowed to wear anything but a 'nice tunic and leggings with some fly boots'

Do feel its particularly mean to people who don't have perfect figures who've probably plucked up the courage to try something new - think they look good in it and then have their confidence diminished by someone who can't even see them.

I really really want the nap sale to start soon - in need of retail hit. DH is buying a new mountain bike and lordy - let me tell you - you could do a lot of NAP shopping for the price of one of those

Oh and DD went to bed earlier - started crying - before I'd got up the stairs - bang she'd launched herself out of her cot. Honestly - the girl has no fear

traceybath · 16/06/2010 20:22

And god - what I keep meaning to post is - Romana - are you really getting a boob job?

I am going to have to follow what happens very closely as suspect I will need/want one after I stop feeding bea.

I don't want bigger - just back where they should be.

Carciofi - lovely stuff - a very profitable hour

hellsbelles · 16/06/2010 20:25

Tracey at DD! Is she o.k?

My preview sale ends at 12pm on the 18th...so I'm assuming the general one starts after that? But now you've got me on FB if there is anything you really want tell me and I'll order it for you.

Also - not sure if you saw - but I got given the new Sophie Dahl book and it looks yummy - but I remember you saying some of it didn't work. What should I avoid?

eshermummy · 16/06/2010 20:32

Well I seriously hope noone who has tentatively taken a leap out of their comfort zone takes any notice of comments that are so generic as to be totally meaningless.

I quite often see people in things that, on paper you might have thought didn't work (because of their height or size or shape or whatever) but then they have the most lovely hair or the most wonderful skin or cleavage or a lovely pedi in pretty sandals or they just look so nice or so smiley or whatever that my abiding impression is that they look fab and I always think "good for them for just GOING FOR IT" and tbh it really cheers me up too. I love people who make an effort .

eshermummy · 16/06/2010 20:36

Sorry, meant to add a at Bea? How old is she now? Both mine were such lazy puddings they never tried to climb/jump/hurl themselves anywhere!

traceybath · 16/06/2010 20:40

She's nearly 11 months and just quite monkey-tastic. My boys were also much more laidback regarding sleep and never every stood up in their cots. She is going to make me very grey. She seemed ok though - quick cuddle and then she went back to bed.

Hells - I can't even remember what I cooked from the Dahl book so it wasn't terribly memorable . However I did just like flicking through it and oohing at her prettiness.

blossoming · 16/06/2010 20:40

Great bag carciofi. Glad you got your red one in the end. I love a red bag for summer. Must get my gucci one out soon, when dh is pushing the pram! (Short strap).

Well my trip was quite successful: I bought some tight fit denim capris (like what I wanted from White co) from autograph. I'm going to wear them on the walk with my two hour dress over (more like two weeks!) then I went to Jigsaw and bought that linen Breton, but in a small (never worn small in my life), and a nice cotton jersey storm grey vest (not the website one) in a large. WTF.

I was about 9'4 in uni, but what a waste, I used to wear men's clothes then!

Oh yes, got sensible boring ugly shoes from clarks too (sure you don't want me to link??!)

Best purchase? Crate of stellas from s'sburys on the way home. One of which I'm drinking ice cold right now after almost collapsing on shred level 2!

blossoming · 16/06/2010 20:50

Also ltec, glad you've got your mum around. Autograph had grey slub oversized dipped hem t shirts. 12 was mahoosive.

at blos's stella!

Tracey - does Bea wear a grobag? I find that helps hamper DD's night time mobility!

Hells she does - nothing slows her down.

This morning she was crawling round my bedroom still in her babygrow and DH said I think her nappies come undone as there was a lump in one of the feet bits.

Oh no - she had unpopped some of it and stuffed down it an Agent Provacateur mule! Said mule has a very sharp stilleto heel - do you think she was trying it on?

hellsbelles · 16/06/2010 21:09
  • Tracey - I can't stop smiling now from picturing cheeky Bea. She sounds so funny.

off to have a low fat yoghurt. I'm forcing myself NOT to look at any sites - I have spent too much and need to stop.

Zembo · 16/06/2010 21:27

Ladies, please can you tell me what you'd think if someone complimented you on your beautiful teeth the first time they met you? I told someone she had beautiful teeth today, her husband asked me if I was a dentist and my DH told me later that I shouldn't have made such a personal comment. I regret saying it now, but I love getting compliments regardless of how well I know someone

blossoming · 16/06/2010 21:51

I would love to have a compliment like that zembo. My dh would react the same.

everything, I'm a B cup and wear a sports bra. There's lots of jumping jacks and jump (imaginary) rope. To add to your mirth I've contemplated tena aswell.

Decided I hate everything apart from the vest. Returns tomorrow. Can you return from store to jigsaw headquarters?

Adorable dd traceybath. She's starting young on the agent provocateurs!

OP posts:
Zembo · 16/06/2010 21:59

Thank you blossoming and everything have been feeling a little paranoid about the whole thing all evening. I think giving a genuine compliment is a very generous gesture although my DH's comments left me feeling that I'd overstepped some kind of social boundary!

monkeysmama · 16/06/2010 22:00

Tracey I like hearing what Bea is up to - always makes me smile. I too have a monkey child. On occasion she shocks me so much I find myself standing with my mouth open not knowing what to say. I love it .

Zembo no one would ever compliment me on my teeth. One day when I have had lots of work done they may and it will be the best thing ever.

I am a bit at wedding etiquette. Is it ok to show some boob and leg? Not flash obviously. Just that my dress is quite short and because I have lots of boob there is some cleavage on display. I don't know the couple that well but they're young and trendy. I think it is ok no?

Esher I hardly post on any other threads since we started this. I hate the nastiness of certain threads and would rather stay away from it all.

Ladies, all this diet talk is making me feel like the big piggy of the thread! For dinner I had a Japanese meal including tempura and noodles, my picnic lunch included half a pot of houmous, a boiled egg, 3 slices of gammon, a pickled onion and some prawns and garlic . Oh, and some wine. I love good food.

My house is such a mess. The kitchen is finished apart from the handles on the cupboards. Tomorrow am facing a day of cleaning. Oh joy.

Saturday off to Spain for the "family" holiday. More joy.

I went to Primark today and bought some red jelly-ish t bar sandals. I saw someone wearing some the other day and started a S&B thread about them and found them for £3. Brilliant!

Cakey hope you and your mum are having a lovely time.

Vin I know exactly where you mean - Colins I think it is called. I think they are Turkish maybe. Am going to take it to my local dry cleaner on one of the hills. We must live so near, I am worried I am going to log in one day and read that you've seen a terribly dressed woman and it will be me .
