In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

Well, my Dukan book is in the local bookshop, so popping in to pick up....! Marsha, sounds v effective...only hope I can summon some more willpower! Had rather stressy afternoon after the massage (always the way!): DD sick in car on way back from picking up brother - eurggh, so spent ages cleaning her up, bathing, then cleaning car all before supper!

DH was great - realised I was knackered (what, moi?)...so got baby up and organised everything this morning without saying anything! Ahhhh....

Tracey - no-I meant, are you planning to do any summer activities with DS and DD...
In fact, none of mine are actually doing anything without me....! Your HV would be hyperventilating! DD is starting nursery when she's 3, in September.

Roma - love the big family feel - even with 3....it's vibrant, and love seeing their personalities, differences and similarities. I want to be close when they are older, even if we all live in different countries...however, it is exhausting! I sink into bed every night utterly exhausted...not an unpleasant thing though!

carciofi · 16/06/2010 09:19

Verity and Rebecca, thanks. Food for thought. I do understand what you mean, Verity, my mother died a few years back and I can talk to my brothers about her in a way no one else can understand.

Everything, replied back!

Roary, I'd say you could bf in the dress. It is really nice on.

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 09:31

Big thank you everyone for info on blw. I really want to do it so it's good to know the uptake can be slow. I don't mind the mess, and it is messy! So that's fine. Still bf'ding, but I am enjoying it, I think I will be extra tired for next month but it will be worth it when he is eating what he wants.

All this talk of big families is making me want to try for another..

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 09:43

Dolce good luck with the Dukan if you do it. It is quick, quite easy but also (I think) a big commitment. You can't even glance sideways at carbs! (well for a while anyway).

hellsbelles · 16/06/2010 09:56

Marsha - so glad to hear it's working for you too. You are so right about it shifting weight in hard to move places. I too have noticed my arms getting much much slimmer.

roary · 16/06/2010 10:03

Carciofi what size are you in that dress? I am normally a ten but boobs quite a lot bigger at the mo!

I think it's just the banana, it gets squashed and stuff. But yes the toast etc no problem.

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 10:40

Also I must admit part of what attracts me is there is loads less washing up of puree machine etc (so I do agree!)

carciofi · 16/06/2010 10:44

Marsha, I have the BLW book by Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett, if you want I can send it on to you.

Roary, I bought a medium, I am a 12. It is on the generous side, you'd probably get away with a small.

The red bag is sold out on NAP already. Life is just so unfair!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/06/2010 10:51

Everything - The Little London site is fantastic! There are too many things I like, but I think I'll wait until I have my colours done...

I would so love to have a big family. We try to substitute family with having lots of friends around. I know it is not the same but at the moment it is the best we can do. I am also quite close to some of my parents' friends and my dad's best friend and his wife who don't have grandchildren of their own have even set up a trust fund for DD (and for my sister's DCs). Which is obviously not the reason why we are close but it really touched me and they feel like part of our family.

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 10:51

Carciofi that red bag!! I feel you need to have it!

Thank you for offer of book, we did an amazon order (incl. 30 day shred thingo) so one is on its way. Thanks though very kind .

(Am still going to look for that bag for you in Liberty, if I knew your dh I'd get him to buy it and surprise you )

blossoming · 16/06/2010 11:41

Am in Chester doing RL shopping. Will report back.

LetThemEatCake · 16/06/2010 11:44

quick hello! mum arrived last night bringing with her a maxi skirt that I bought (aged 20) for a first date. Fits perfectly, so rather happy on 2 counts (investment buying at so tender an age and vague claim to having body of a 20-year-old )

also the £60 Blochs which are lovely.

Dying to read thread and click links but no time. Did notice that job congrats are in order for Fritz though, well done!! Congrats to you.

DolceeBanana · 16/06/2010 14:12

Right Marsha...Can I pick your brains?...Have glanced through the Dukan book and it all looks a bit, well, complicated? Maybe it's me....Did you read it thoroughly before embarking? The amounts 'allowed' on attack and cruise phase seem rather limited...I know it's a diet but even so....? Your reassurance is needed please!....However, liking the idea of leaning out waist, and skinny arms...mine already slim, but would love leaner effect...

Hello Cake !

Think I'd really like some Houlihans...but what's the bet they are sold in nap sale....

hellsbelles · 16/06/2010 14:20

dolcee - I"ve been on it for a while now. And it IS very limiting to begin with. It really is. But somehow (and this is what surprises me) that is what makes it so easy. There is no confusion about what you can make in the attack phases - and I ended up just cooking juicy steaks for the family supper and just left the side bits off my plate! Lunchtime was usually just cold chicken slices and I've been snacking on prawns and white crab meat.

It's the promise of the future...once I reach target weight. Of eating what I want with just one protein only day a week that makes it seem feasible. That and the fact it works SO fast. The results are addictive!

DolceeBanana · 16/06/2010 14:30

Oh thanks Hells ...I worried that I was maybe missing something because I am an impatient so and so (which Mr D warns about!), ...less haste and all that! So, those small amounts (gulp!), in the attack phase are literally it!? Did you say you did 5 days on the attack phase Hells? Sorry, all these questions!....

I am going to give it a go though, starting tomorrow!

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 14:35

Hey Dolce, I was ambivalent before starting I thought how can I eat just that. But I think it gets easier after day 2 (perhaps the body forgets carbs exist). It's easy in one way because you just eat when you wish, but not what you like. It is such a different way to diet I find it quite fascinating (then I do pretty much everything). It's all happening on a minute level but you do need loads of water for this reason otherwise your body does bizarre stuff to compensate.

I could go on . I didn't read the book but googled a bit and found this blog.

I still say it's a long term thing because over say 20g of carbs a day and all that protein will put on weight rather than lose it, so a rather unforgiving diet. But it works!

MarshaBrady · 16/06/2010 14:38

I got through the attack phase by taking a trip to the butcher/fishmonger and having it all ready (bunker mentality?). And then took the plunge.

roary · 16/06/2010 15:00

Is it possible the a&w thread has crashed the little London website?

DolceeBanana · 16/06/2010 15:00

Thanks Marsha ! It's fascinating!

DolceeBanana · 16/06/2010 15:02

Houlihans are indeed sold out anyway! Would like some classic aviators...any idea if any in nap sale Hells ?.......

carciofi · 16/06/2010 18:15

LTEC, I am impressed that you fit in to something that you bought when you were 20!

I had a very quick yet successful trip to Harvey Nicks, bought the red DKNY dress for a friend, got this pink wool dress (half the NAP advertised price) and this Marc by Marc Jacobs red bag. So I am sorted now, thanks Marsha. Roary, if you do like the red dress, I think they are sold out online now but Harvey Nicks in Knightsbridge have a few.

The APC blazer arrived and it is not great even at 50% off so going to return.

carciofi · 16/06/2010 18:16

P.S. Everything, bought mailing bags on the way home and will post the cargo pants to you tomorrow.

monkeysmama · 16/06/2010 18:17

Need some advice. This dress has just arrived but by the time I ordered they only had a 14 in stock. Thought that might be ok over my ample bosom but it is too big around the hips. Do you think a good sewing person (can't think of the name ) would be able to take the hip bits in or should I send it back?
