Thanks to ltec for the new title.

oh gosh, sorry, didn't mean to make it sound miserable - was fine, really, was trying to make sense of some stuff along the lines we've been discussing.

and every time I go home, I see another tormentor whose blonde hair is now straw-like, whose white skin is now sn-damaged and peppered with lines and whose boobs are hanging down to their knees. Dark skin and small boobs really come into their own in your 30s

esher I love your ASOS order, great stuff. You reminded me to go and look at my 'saved for laters" and I found this little beauty in my virtual basket - what do we think?? Fritz how did your jumpsuits go and LOL at the cows!!!!

MarshaBrady · 02/06/2010 22:58

Sorry to hear about people's bad school experiences. Must admit mine got a hell a lot better when it wasn't big boobs and over all roundness that was admired!

Nice shopping Esher.

Carciofi not sure will check it out.

eshermummy · 02/06/2010 23:03

Cake - nice jumpsuit - you are tall enough to carry off as the crotch on those harems looks quite low. Also despite being called "beach" it doesn't seem remotely see through on the moggle. Would look nice with embellished glads/sandals and little denim jacket

BTW, anyone else got July's copy of Easy Living - p62 lovely pair of raffia wedge sandals from office. I can't find them on the website though. Don't normally "do" wedges but these look perfect.

Oh and I also got a free Jemma Kidd lipgloss with my July Red magazine and is very nice.

(DH gets me subs to both for Christmas, hence receiving copies so ahead of time)

I am off to bed but am over the moon . I bought a very beautiful pair of sunglasses in Italy ten years ago. I loved them very much. I am a sunglasses addict but these were my favourites. Then they got lost last year. I never lose anything and am certain they were stolen but that is another story. Anyway, I've missed them many times. I didn't know the style name and have spent a year looking for them. This morning I found the style name, this afternoon I located a pair, this evening I have bought them. I am soooo happy. I will only really believe it when I have them in my hands but wow, I am happy .

Cakey I have 3 similar black bandeau jumpsuits and love them. Very versatile, can be dressed up or down, no tan lines etc. I often get complimented on them and stand out a bit from all the maxis and colourful sundresses.

MarshaBrady · 02/06/2010 23:12

I do like the black jumpsuit and tan lines are such a pain..

blossoming · 03/06/2010 09:24

Morning all. I'm on the train to Cardiff having set off at 7am. Mil is in residence with dh.

mm, those boden tops aren't very low and they have bra shelves. Good news about the sunglasses.

verity, your mother sounds an amazing seamstress and she definitely made you better stuff than mine did me!! I do love jersey, and the colour of that dress puts a smile on my face!

I think I will always feel insecure back home (ie where I now live) because of how I looked as a teenager. Even though I know I look tons better than I used to and better than the hair scraped back, gold chains and hoody brigade.

Sold my good maternity wear on eBay this week including my 7's. Those I bought in 2004 before they were available online. I travelled 5hrs to London and back from my house in Cardiff, got a taxi to Blossom, then straight back home! How's that for dedication?

LTEC - I have ordered the same jumpsuit you linked to last night. Out of the three I thought this was the best for me. The Grecian twist suits me but feels too formal for everyday wear. The top on the asymmetric shoulder one doesn't work for me so I am going to send those two back and probably keep the bandeau one. Have to try it on again tonight and check the material as it is a rather thin cotton (the other jumpsuits are jersey which I like better).

MarshaBrady · 03/06/2010 10:05

Blossoming am the same as you, could never go back and live in home town or university town. So many (good) things have happened since I was that skinny kid it would all feel like a dream. Still friends with quite a few of the nice ones from school which is fabulous. Especially as that means the friendships are since 12 years old.

I couldn't think of any models I want to look like but love the look of the two blondes number one and three on this blog.

blossoming · 03/06/2010 10:16

Just got me thinking about 'things that have changed my life'

Ghds
j&j holiday skin
push up bras
ahem, nairs wax strips for upper lip
threading
dvf
high heels
premium denim
house of colour
and last but not least, the love of my good man!!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 03/06/2010 10:44

Love the love of a good man!

This is too strong in colour for me... but would look fabulous on those who can do brights.

notyummy · 03/06/2010 10:44

Morning all.

I am hungover.

It was fun though.

rufus101 · 03/06/2010 11:20

Fritzi so sorry you are going on hols alone. My DH would never take a holiday unless I insist. There's always some deal being done or about to be done. I keep pointing out that if he dropped dead it would still get done. Even when we are away he is welded to his "crackberry"(!) and saying I just have to drive off for a few hours so I can do a conference call. (silent scream)
LTEC feel so angry and so sad when I read of your school experiences. I really want to believe the world is different now. Love the ASOS jumpsuit and would order if if I thought it would get here by Tuesday. (snail mail to Ireland)
Verity and Carciofi went to TCD also!! At same time. (well 1988) So bet we know each other to see! I was a Pav person, closer to my side of the campus!
Speaking of body issues. As you may have guessed I am preoccupied by my rear end, but saw a person yesterday who had the most ginormous bum. It looked positively "medical" although can't think what the cause could be. Looked like 2 volkswagons under a tent.
Things that have changed my life!
Good padded bras that don't look like I have loo roll or a pair of tights in them to do the padding!
Premium denim.( glad to see another j brand convert Carciofi)
IPL (legs, bikini, and upper lip. Got it done 5 years ago and it revolutionised my summer dressing and self consciousness about upper lip)
Running.(as much as I criticise how I look I think I'd look even worse if I hasn't started exercising)

ApuskiDusky · 03/06/2010 12:07

Morning! Lovely day, and not too hot!

I have just realised that I am dressed head to toe in A&W purchases today. I've got on my OU crop combats (with a hair bobble over the button to fit my expansive preg belly), a navy Splendid vest top, an American Vintage teal short sleeve lightweight cardigan, and my gold Toast alexa glads. No maternity wear in sight!

And on things that have changed my life:
ditto on the good padded bras (the wonders of gel)
long length trousers - I remember when I had to buy any trousers that were long enough because they were so few and far between
Daily disposable contact lenses

ApuskiDusky · 03/06/2010 12:09

BTW I've been meaning to ask - anyone had their eyes lasered?

bunjies · 03/06/2010 12:09

Blossoming - at your list.

Cake - can empathise with your school experiences. Had similar as am also mixed race. Got called all manner of nasty names. Ended up having a fight with one particularly chavvy girl and pushed her down the stairs at school. She never said a bad word against me again .

Leon is my favourite place to eat when I'm in town.I go to the one by Liberty. Love their super chicken salad with no wheat chocolate brownie and a coffee. Always buy a magazine to read while there.

Names for girls private areas - bits or fannies. I'm always telling the girls to "wash their bits" when they're having a shower.

Fritz - bad news about the holiday, I bet your dh is gutted too.

OllieWollieWoo · 03/06/2010 12:48

Very hot here today so wore my M&S pale grey tunic style dress and felt quite good in it! Had a nice afternoon yesterday with DS1 and 2 of his friends - it was National Street Play Day here and a neighbouring street was closed off and there were all different activities for the kids to do eg go- karting/painting/football/twister/cake decorating etc! Lots of running around and a bit paranoid about loosing friends kids in the mayhem but they all had a ball. The Dutch do know how to do party type events!

MM - good for you re finding sunglasses. I love it when something has a happy ending like that! Hang on in there with the house too - def worth all the hassle.
Verity - another Mum who sews here! It was a real treat to have something shop brought as a kid. Sadly the gene was not passed onto me!
Blossoming - funny story re jeans - just the sort of thing I would do!
Congrats on the car Apuski - I hate dealing with anything like that! What new car are you getting? DH showed me a pic of the new mini thats coming out soon - its SUV style mini and a cross between the Clubman and Coper - I keep thinking about it - and am not a car person at all! Used to have a mini when in London but sold it when moved over here - I cried! Now DS2 no longer needs a buggy I'm thinking I could justify getting a smaller car......!
Roary - has the WC maxi arrived yet? Would really like a review as love it but have yet to find a maxi style that suits me.

Re things that have changed my life - bit sad but when M&S started to deliver over here! Actually rang DH up and told him we could stay as could now get hold of decent bras!

Last thing - has anyone see this FF dress in RL here? I love chambray as suits my colouring, and also like straight necklines but not sure re the hem line - says its drawstring so have they pulled it into a bubble hem for the photo or is that the way it is? Possibley a tad too nappy like if so and a bit short???? Views please!

carciofi · 03/06/2010 13:14

Verity and Rufus, Pav for a while but then the Stags Head, then took a year off and went to Italy and most everyone I knew had left by my final year. Rufus, I am from Howth, are you from that area too?

Marsha, thanks for checking. I was hoping I'd get an email from Liberty saying thank you for signing up to our card, now here is a link to the preview sale, but nope!

Changed my life (or made me look better, at least):
Definitely high-end denim as jeans were never long enough on me before
Bobbi brown lipgloss and concealer
Hair serum

NY, hope your hangover is lifting.

We are going to Mark Knopfler tonight (DH is a big fan) so I think I will wear my Blossoming top and new J Brands.

carciofi · 03/06/2010 13:18

OWW, I like it apart from the drawstring hem.

roary · 03/06/2010 14:10

OWW should be here today - sent it to dh work so he'll bring it home tonight.

I need it bc having v bad day. Bumped a skip on the way to toddler fun this am, along the side. Thought it just the mirror that was pushed in. When we arrived I checked it and there is a bug dent/hole in passenger door. Can't open the door and it is going to be ££££ to fix I think. Must have just hit the wrong angle as it was hardly noticeable. We need a new car and were going to trade this one in. Grrrrrrr.

Can't recall who rec the m&s mini, found a great denim one at gap. Will debut this pm as not appropriate for am bouncy castle. Or driving in to skips.

bunjies · 03/06/2010 15:03

zembo - are you NS on facebook?

Roary - what a pita.

blossoming · 03/06/2010 16:07

Oh what a pain roary. Hope your purchases bring a smile to your face.

I have found the holy Grail of beach shorts. In Fat Face. Was tempted to buy 4 pairs. Will link when I get home, sometime later. Much later. (Feeling weary and lopsided after dental work!)

OP posts:
notyummy · 03/06/2010 16:37

Hangover slowly improving. Moved into the 'need lots of savoury carbs' stage....

Sorry to hear about the car Roary.

Zembo · 03/06/2010 16:38

Bunjies I'm a friend of LTECs on fb - initials SC and am Asian. Do request me if you find me as I could do with a few more FB friends

Just been seriously chatted up by an 80 year old in the park! Not sure it counts as a compliment, but he did think I was only 25 yrs old (only 14 years out) -invited me over for a cup of tea and asked if I could meet him for a walk tomorrow, made my excuses and escaped

IPL has also changed my life - had the whole lot done, arms, legs, bikini line, underarms..cost £££ but most definitely worth it. Also threading.

My Dd refers to my 17month old Ds's bits as his 'coconut'. No idea where it came from but I'm often informed that he has a dirty coconut

rufus101 · 03/06/2010 18:18

Carciofi not from Howth (culchie!), but living in Dublin since came to college and am living in Howth for the last 4 years. Love it here, would not live anywhere else now, even for work. Would prefer a long commute, which I currently have.
That's awful re the car Roary. Am always getting out of car to "view the damage".
Glad the hangover is dissipating NY! Get those carbs into you. You know you'll feel better!

FormerlyKnownAs · 03/06/2010 18:34

poor you roary..so annoying.

ny..is it wrong to envy your hangover..(still bfing)..but seriously hope it's not too awful.

with our girls we do 'lady foo foo' (not quite sure how that came about)and 'front bottom'..
