Thanks to ltec for the new title.

lol at Pooh and Minnie in one place, and I like the point about the kitchen. My mil is actually nice, and won't expect me to entertain her non-stop, but there's also no way she'll entertain herself - ie going out on her own. Unthinkable! But she will consider a trip to Ikea for a new deskchair/going to the supermarket/other tedious chores, as entirely suitable entertainment. I'll be able to park her in front of Rai daytime telly with a pile of socks that need darning while I go out to get some space.

I really need shorts. Going to go and look for some rl ones in Zara later but failing that, will give the fat face ones a go.

notyummy · 04/06/2010 10:20

mm - very jealous of your big night out (now I have recovered from my hangover...I wouldn't have said the same thing this time yesterday!) I think the snakeskin or black dresses sound the best.

Roma - I think I would keep DS off school for a bit but maybe I am just looking for the easy way out. Would MIL like to teach him to cook and then you could have him entertained and a full freezer?!

Sun is shining her so am sporting pink paisley maxi that I bought from boohoo.com last year (the home of cheap....but not always chic clothing...) In my defence, I bought 4 dresses and a pair of shorts from their pre-holiday last year, and they were all under £15 and were great. Even better was the fact that the sizing meant that I fitted into a size 10 in everything!

Just looked at the weather forecast for Lake Grada (we go out on MOnday) and there is heavy rain forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

notyummy · 04/06/2010 10:27

Lord, what is going on here??

hf128219 · 04/06/2010 10:34

NY Hope the weather will be OK for you.

It rained on our last 2 summer holidays abroad. This year we are going away in the height of the school holidays to try and ensure some sunshine.

blossoming · 04/06/2010 11:49

I bet you'd look great in the fat face ones roma. I like notyummy's idea of getting mil to teach dc to cook. Projects, projects, projects! (I would lose the will to live if it was me though).

Hope the weather forecast is wrong for you notyummy, and stay away from the boohoo!!
Hopefully it will be short sharp showers, then hot again, not like here.

I'm also hoping for fine weather for the christening on Sunday. We're all having lunch out, then it's back here for cake. We can share a drive with next door (my parents), and my mum can help with drinks (soft, and only one of!!) Hopefully, as there will be 32, they won't stay long. Especially as there are a few no shows from my side.

Hi all, sorry have been awol at my parents for a few days. Had lovely time helping with preparations for my sister's wedding next weekend. DD and I are both bridesmaids so am very excited!

Interesting to read that some of you would like the dark hair & blue eyes combo. I guess that is what I have and have always disliked it - spent the last 10 years dyeing my hair and wishing I had lovely brown eyes!

Think most of my image hang ups come from 'friends' at school - one of the perils of an all girls' school I think. Lots of snide comments and backhanded compliments - am still friends with one of the main culprits and it doesn't take long with her to make me feel insecure.

Re names for girly parts - please forgive me but DD's seems to have ended up being called her noo noo. I think my sister started it and it has stuck. The poor girl is in for some confusion when she starts watching teletubbies Agree there should be a girl's equivalent of willy.

Wearing UO combats with nude tie sleeve top + wedges today.

Things that have changed my life:

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 12:33

quickly rushing in...LTEC very of bargain blochs.

IPL sounds fab. I really do need it (hairy monkey here)..can anyone recommend a good central london practitioner?

Forgot to add that my eyes being laser zapped was a huge confidence booster (as I stopped being able to lenses...huge thick glasses were not a good look)

FritziGreenEyes · 04/06/2010 12:34

Just a quick post between some last minute shopping and getting ready for our holiday tomorrow.

MM - DD has these silver Birkenstock sandals. Not sure if they do them in your DD's size or if you could buy them online.

LetThemEatCake · 04/06/2010 13:06

Fritz how was 2nd try of jumpsuit?

thanks for the thumbs up on the dress MM - am going to order. Unsure whether to go M or S. Do you think if M is too big I could get it altered? Don't want to order an S and then have it clinging to my booty...nor do I want to have an M looking saggy across the back and shoulders ... hmmm, the dilemmas of one of life's pears ..

roma don't you dare come in here making us all with tales of drunkeness and late night revelry without at least telling us "what roma wore"!!!

mrsJ LOL at noo noo as that is my nn for ds1.. had no idea that it had a TT connection though??

fingers x'd for good weather NY and bloss

LetThemEatCake · 04/06/2010 13:28

also hells how is Durkan going?

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 13:53

LTEC - it's weird. I don't think I've lost more than 1lb yet (which is crap)...but I'm not hungry at all so I'm assuming it will work if I give it a few more days on the 'attack phase'. I was expecting miracles in the first day or two. That hasn't happened. But I do feel full of energy and no hunger pangs.

I'm on day 3 now and I reckon I'll do a couple more days (total 5 on this protein only phase). Then revert to the next bit which allows vegetables as well.

I'm feeling motivated by my holiday coming up (with goddess SIL) - I can't be big fat dumpling next to her

monkeysmama · 04/06/2010 13:54

Can you not order both and try them Cakey? Maybe it is just me but apart from one dress I find altered stuff never fits properly still or just hangs wrong. If you tried both you'd know which required least altering?

monkeysmama · 04/06/2010 13:59

Was momentarily very confused. Durkan is a construction company .

LetThemEatCake · 04/06/2010 14:02

I would, MM but mum will be bringing it/ them over on the 15th and I'd be trying them on after the 7 day period needed for the issue of an RMA ... have just looked at all my Aussie frocks though and they are all size 1, which is a 10. So I'll go the small. Can always tweak my weight a bit! Or use an excuse to buy Spanx!!

hells I'm on the 7-day Juice thing again atm. But having one meal a day as a nod to dh/ family life/ general joining-in-iness. Durkan sounds v.tempting but not sure how it would work for a non-meat eater?? Eggs for brekkie and then fish for lunch and dinner presumably? what are you eating?

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 14:05

mm! Sorry for confusion.

LTEC - I really don't see how it could work for a non meat eater. I'm having eggs for b/fast, cold chicken for lunch and fish or steak for supper. Yum . And snacking on prawns. If I never see another prawn I'll be happy. I'm starting to dread them.

monkeysmama · 04/06/2010 14:08

I am going to Nobu not Zuma. Wally.

I love prawns Hells & am sooo hungry

LetThemEatCake · 04/06/2010 14:15

I love prawns too. Preferably with linguine, roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, rocket, chilli, garlic and a big squeeze of lemon.

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 14:22

I normally love them too...just not in my every waking moment

LetThemEatCake · 04/06/2010 14:23

hells you;re still there. Do you like the dress I am about to buy this

Romanarama · 04/06/2010 15:01

LTEC that's what I made for dinner on Tuesday! Except with trofie. Ever so slightly more detailed instructions for everyone as it's a piece of p*ss and so yummy: cook some garlic in oil, put in some blended sun-dried tomatoes (or a spoon of the paste you can get) and a glass of wine, cook a little bit, put the prawns in, mix with the cooked pasta, juice of a lemon and the grated rind, few handfuls of rocket. Jamie Oliver right?

OK, on Weds I work the Ibiza MJ/AB sandals combo to the Italian prosecco and parmesan shebang. Yesterday the Formes maternity maxi (how ironic that it's one of the only maxis I can find that doesn't look like maternity wear), which is a black chiffon layer on a grey chiffon layer, with some Moroccon-style jewelled silver slippers that I bought in the shop at Babington House a few years ago.

Today I bought some navy shorts and a white denim mini in Zara. Haven't tried the shorts on yet - couldn't be bothered, but the mini rocks, esp with my Vagabond clogs. Am vegging in the garden, roasting hot here today.

Romanarama · 04/06/2010 15:11

Btw MM I also think the snakeskin sounds great.

traceybath · 04/06/2010 15:36

Hello - I'm back. Just saying hi quickly as have discovered 2 jackdaws in sitting room upon return. Thank god the cleaners had shut the door and I think they'd only been in there for a little while but can you imagine the mess - shudder/bleugh and me with a bird phobia too.

Was pretty much my worst nightmare when I opened the door and very quickly shut it again.

Good holiday but fed up of villas and want luxury hotel next time.

No tan as in the shade with bea all the time.

Fashion interesting - british ladies really do need to step up big time. Honestly a saggy swimming costume is just not a good look.

Loved my maxis and saw this one in cream in a magazine and may order it.

Anyway - off with bleach and bin bags to attack the sitting room.

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 15:47

sorry LTEC - had to go get DD so didn't see your post! I'm guessing the dress could be great...but I have this weird thing about dresses that are slightly longer at the back (without it being graduated iyswim)... sometimes looks odd. I can't tell if it will with that one.

Welcome back Tracey! But what a horrible welcome from the birds

blossoming · 04/06/2010 16:20

First attempt at holiday wardrobe including the butterfly dress on profile now!

To be added I think is this bikini. Yes, it's a keeper!!

How am I ever going to get my kids home? As soon as I find one, I lose another. Giving up and mning instead.

Roma ours is based on a bill grainger recipe, slightly diff, will post it later. Your outfit sounds heaven!

Welcome back tracey, what a hideous homecoming though. Maybe they've at least killed/ scared a few mice??

Bloss will check your pics on laptop when home.

Well, dress was sold out in s so have ordered m and will email to explain about perhaps needing a few days longer to request an rma if no good. My fave jumper is longer at the back, cost me about $300 when I was 19 (huge amount for me then!) and is still going strong.

Have had lots of gratifying comments on appearance today so am making mental note to trot this outfit out again.

Next style dilemma; party next weekend, full of the girls that dh went to uni with, none of whom were terribly accepting of/ nice to me when we got together. Two of them are exes. All media; I was a waitress at the time; they called me The Noodle Queen. To my face!!

wwyw?? (what would you wear?)
