Thanks to ltec for the new title.

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 01/06/2010 22:24

Cakey I thought it was a suggestion from Reiss but can't find it anywhere. Was it a nude version of this perhaps?

What do you all think of this?

Thanks for all the other links but it wasn't any of those. I am going to try again and look back at the old posts.

CHOOGIRL · 01/06/2010 22:29

Thanks for the Hermes advice. I popped into Hermes today and got one for her. Got back to my desk and decided I wanted one too so ordered one online!! We are out for dinner tomorrow here so will report back.

Marsha think I got you confused with the Hermes toting Bobthewoodmouse Are you lurking bob?

Love the poetry cake.
MM welcome back. I think you are a similar size up top to me - do you do strapless?
Roma do you think those booblifts would work on an E cup?

Could you give me feedback on this maxi Would it be forgiving with a denim jacket? I think I have that body dysmorphia thingy - but the other way round iyswim

monkeysmama · 01/06/2010 22:35

Hey Choo - I do strapless. Have a brilliant strapless bra and live in strapless dresses in the summer as I hate tan lines.

I like that dress a lot.

CHOOGIRL · 01/06/2010 22:37

Thanks MM Can I ask which bra? All the ones I see seem to look industrial

monkeysmama · 01/06/2010 22:43

Will have to check who it is by.

My sister is the same size and swears by this.

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 22:55

no mm it wasn't that, am sure my one was sleeveless. Quite like the 2nd one you have linked to

Choo are you curvy or just large of nork? I like that dress but it seems pricey for what it is; don't Oasis do a similar one for about £30? It also looks a tad clingy and might require an absence of hip?

CHOOGIRL · 01/06/2010 23:05

Thanks MM that bra looks better than ones I have seen

LTEC am definitely curvy. Boobs and booty. Think Beyonce/Tyra before she slimmed down.

Was thinking more expensive fabric may be more forgiving than the New Look one I saw for £15.

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 23:15

okay, choo will be brutal.
Look at the pics of it on the model.
She is a few inches taller than you and apparently wearing an x-small.
She looks chunkeroo.
Don't do it!

did you buy the Vix one in the end?

CHOOGIRL · 01/06/2010 23:20

Thanks cake. Had the Vix in my shopping basket for weeks - it is now out of stock. Looking for a wafting around Montreal maxi dress. There have been lots of threads about said Maxis, and I can't seem to find the right one.

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 23:41

needs to be bra-friendly right? no halters, no racers, no strapless?

how about this?

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 23:43

oooh the stripe version is nice too, would accentuate curves in a good way, I think, esp with denim jacket & glads

CHOOGIRL · 01/06/2010 23:50

How do you do that cake? I've been on the ASOS site tonight and didn't see those. I like the stripey one. Don't normally do horizontal stripes but may order and see.

LetThemEatCake · 02/06/2010 00:05

ha ha I've just been blogging about my clothes-related sixth sense tonight

I think the thing about horizontal stripes that's good is that it gives the illusion of curves to straight-up-and-downers and, to those with hips etc, provides a bit of an optical illusion where you don't quite know if it's flesh or pattern that you're seeing. Only works with broad stripes though I think. Let us know how it goes!

btw, where might my nearest R&B be? So annoying they don't do online!!

LetThemEatCake · 02/06/2010 00:38

fritzi I meant to say, am so sorry about your holiday. Very disappointing. Unfortunately I think lots of us here can relate. Am sure you will have a lovely week, but wish it could be the week you had envisaged.

Zembo · 02/06/2010 06:10

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the compliment Cake but lack of FB photos of me (ok not many photos there anyway!)reflects my ishoos with image of self Anyway too boring to go into but general gist - me 6 -7 yrs old, my mum saying ' you think you're pretty, but you're NOT' vivid vivid memories. You certainly do have the sixth sense thing going on.

Choo the NAP maxi does look similar to the NL one and I much prefer the ASOS ones.

FormerlyKnownAs · 02/06/2010 07:03

Zembo.. and more at your mother's comment..I can't imagine the thinking behind it..perhaps she was jealous..when I was a child a 'friend' of my mum's told me I had put on a lot of weight a few months after mum died..even though I was only 11(puberty obviously starting) I could see that a fat woman was 'enjoying' telling me this but I can clearly remember this as being the start of my 'only an apple a day' eating ishoos.adults sometimes forget what sway what they say has.

Also I know you are looking for a glittery gloss.i have one by estee lauder called pink cupcake..it's in a tube, almost clear with silver flecks and I love it but quite old so do't know if still make it?otherwise chanel do glittery coloures ones.

FormerlyKnownAs · 02/06/2010 07:06

For who to look like I think the dark haired Next model is pretty much perfection but suspect dh would 'settle for' HC(friend of his once dated her so has met her) or Pen Cruz.

FormerlyKnownAs · 02/06/2010 07:10

And thanks for everyone's kind thoughts re-baby.

NY and MM..your girls really make me laugh.toddler tude can be hilarious..just maybe not for mum at the time.

ltec..'you beauty'..one of my personal faves

notyummy · 02/06/2010 08:09

Fritzi - So sorry about your holiday. I can def relate!

Choo - I would second Cakes advice on the maxi - looks like she found you a great alternative though! Ooh - Petrus - you must report back and let us know whether it is worth the £££. I love good food, although being stuck in Lincs I have to live vicariously through others when it comes to eating out....

Well ,then sun was out when I left home, hence black wedges and linen suit with this top
however in the 1 hr and a quarter drive to work it is has disappeared

That ditsy top is great and still available I think. Can be worn to work or with jeans, and small shoulder pads so balances out curves if you a bit of pear like me!

notyummy · 02/06/2010 08:15

Zembo and Formerly - there have been quite a few of us on this thread who have mentioned how off-hand or even deliberately cruel comments from adults can distort how we see oursleves from childhood on. It is so sad and unnecessary, and makes me determined to make sure dd avoides as much of it as she can.

My DH has a real soft spot for Louise Redkapp (apparently he met her once and she is 'really lovely up close as well - and so nice.') Don't you just hate that...!! He also likes Thandy Newton (who, I admit is v beautiful)and always used to like Charlize Theron, but I believe she is slipping down the league table now. He was also mightily impressed with Michelle Pfiffer (at 50) who looked ridiculously good when we saw her on a chat show at some point last year.

Romanarama · 02/06/2010 09:55

Choo I'm a AA so can't claim superior wisdom about anything to do with big boobs, but I do remember my friend with DDs using stick-ons to wear a low-backed strapless dress to a party a while ago, and they seemed to do the trick. Remember how utterly ridiculous you look when you get undressed though - quick trip to the bathroom required if you're planning to impress anyone in your altogether

hellsbelles · 02/06/2010 09:58

rushing in as I have a messy house and lot of unpacking to do.

Fritz/NY/Fleecy - I've started the Dukan today (eggs for breakfast!). Fleecy I'm aiming for a similar weight to you so I'll let you know. I just need to kick start this and I have no patience!

LTEC - I will certainly check out Leon and I'm looking forward to links to Hoxton outfit ...oh the pressure...

I agree JA's body is divine. I used to long to look like Angelina but now she just looks plain weird. My current girl crush is Penelope Cruz...and agree that the Cake lookalike model is gorgeous.

Fleecy and at DD. Classic lines but poor you on the sick.

Who's going to Petrus? I went some time back and it was wonderful...though I think the chef (and location!!) has now changed and I haven't had a chance to go back. I can't wait to hear how it is now.

Zembo - how unforgivable...not sure what else to say about behaviour like that from a mother.

So today I'm wearing my blue firetrap dress that Cake found me and DS said 'why are you wearing a pretty dress today?'...

Hello all! Forgive me for not having been around for ages. I will come back to post properly soon (am about 3/4 way through the thread - and have just read the AIBU thread you were on Roman, and am at the response you got!).

Am in a tizz at the mo, if anyone knows about selling a car, can you help me here
