Hope you all have a good half term! See you at the weekend!

eshermummy · 01/06/2010 15:14

OK, dd's are holed up watching Barbie's 12 dancing Princesses so am taking oppo to post ...but if I have to cut it short it'll be coz they've realised I've hidden myself away with the laptop!

Marsha - love that Hermes thing you linked to but it's not me with the twillies - in fact I was going to post yest to ask what they were so thanks for answering the Q for me!

Carciofi - will email you later tonight on that addy, don't mind using my real name when I talk to you just don't want to out myself on here. Remind me ages/sex of your dc?

Tulpe - hope you have a fab hols

Roman - my parents have an apartment in a small town just outside SS, all my family live nearby so I spend 3-4 weeks every summer there with the dc. Obv as we stay with my parents I have never looked at rentals - but would be v interested at what you find as DH would like to find somewhere so we could stay without imposing on my parents. I love SS, I absolutely love it. Fab food, fab shopping, lovely beaches and beautiful countryside inland. Weather can be a bit changeable but when the sun shines it is glorious

Agreed, re all this talk of exercise, am thinking I must start again. am thinking of going and doing some lurking on the running board (there must be one surely?) and starting from scratch with running outdoors 3 mornings a week when dd2 at nursery.

MarshaBrady · 01/06/2010 15:24

Sorry Esher and Choo!!

They are lovely, on the website it shows you can put around the wrist or hair etc. I really quite fancy one.

DolceeBanana · 01/06/2010 15:41

Pheeeeeuuuuw...spent all morning sorting out insurers, and DS cried when the Lanny was put on the back of an artic. and driven away.... Have honestly spent about 3 hours on the phone...was so exhausted/narked I've just cruised the John Lewis website and treated myself to some Dyptique candles, and loads of Clarins products....

Whelk - DH suitably sheepish....We watched the 'Children Of Our Time' doc with Sir Robert Winston last night and it struck me that my DH is not a naturally empathetic person...or agreeable (if you watched you'll know what I mean!!)...the programme illustrated that a majority of highly successful people scored low in empathy and agreeableness...mine 's really successful, but doesn't suffer fools in the extreme...and is more likely to knock up a roast rather than provide tea and sympathy in a crisis.. Strange but true!

Aside from these little troubles, am looking forward to the sun arriving although not obvious that it actually will rear its sunny face yet!

Roma - San Sebastian v lovely, elegant place...Just outside is a fab ancient town called Hondarribia (spg?)...Its beautiful, although we went many moons ago...like 1990, so cannot proffer any actual locations to stay (we stayed at a beautiful hotel, in centre H, cannot remember name)....

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 16:33

tulpe and fel1x - hope you both have lovely breaks.

roma well done on the curtains and dog bed. am v.impressed!!

despite the foul weather have managed to stay out with the dc all day including going to an organised craft session (god I love to foster their creativity without having to do the setting/ clearing up!!).

But apart from that I have spent much of the day ROFL- ever wondered whether you are blessed with gift of prescience/ clairvoyance etc or whether other people are just too bloody predictable for words???

hellsbelles · 01/06/2010 17:00

CAke - crafty stuff sounds good. I must find similar for DD as I'm so lazy about clearing up all the mess at home.

I take it this was not pleasurable ROFL? Was MIL involved in mirth making (I say this with sarcasm directed at MIL)

blossoming · 01/06/2010 17:23

Everyone seen the new photos of Jen Aniston in the pink bikini? She has implants, right?

OP posts:
carciofi · 01/06/2010 17:30

I just got £50 cashback from Quidco so that starts my red bag fund off, woohoo!

I take DD to an art class, she then gets her paint fix for the week and I don't have to clean up.

Esher, thank you and no rush. I have one DD who turned two in April. I'd like to find out about nursery schools (thinking of sending her a couple of mornings a week from January), state vs. private schools in Esher, and if you think it is a good area for kids (I imagine it is), lots to do with her and so on. And is it easy to meet people there?

Dolcee, hope you are ok.

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 17:47

thankfully no hells - she seems to have crawled back under her rock for the time being

no, not pleasurable ROFL ... but not so close to home that it's going to spoil my evening iyswim ... am just slightly at the egos some people carry around with them!!!

on a totally different note - quelle devastation ... looks like dh's NYC job has changed location ... no playsuit and no Tory Burch tie-dye tee

Fritz hope you are feeling better and dolce, glad dh upped his game and that you are okay.

carciofi · 01/06/2010 17:58

LTEC, Saks deliver to the UK but you will get stung by customs!

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 17:59

carciofi what's that US website that you and tracey use a lot?

MarshaBrady · 01/06/2010 18:06

Carciofi there is a sale on at Liberty for card holders would you like me to see if your red bag is on sale?

rufus101 · 01/06/2010 18:42

NY love the capsule wardrobe. Will restrain myself from enquiring about the origins of that gorgeous maxi! Also LOL at the Jeremy Paxman interviewing technique of your DD and am amazed by your exercise stamina.
Also LOL Roman at the jawbreaker maxi!! Caveat emptor or what?!
Carciofi I can give you the low down on schools in the Sutton/Howth area if you like?

FritziGreenEyes · 01/06/2010 19:22

Managed to crawl out of bed and took DD to yoga this afternoon.

My Asos order arrived, will try on the jumpsuits later and see how it goes. LTEC - I couldn't resist ordering the black Blochs you have and they are gorgeous and really comfortable. I hope you don't mind that I copied you, but I think that it is highly unlikely that we will run into each other in RL

Romanarama · 01/06/2010 19:25

I mailed you back cake did you get it?

notyummy · 01/06/2010 19:32

Like the dress VB! Glad to hear that no one is in casualty today. My thighs are stll sore but a cardio session at the gym has actually helped I think.

I want Jen As body. My mid section isn't far off, the lowe half...... Errr not so much! Didn't think she had implants tbh.

FritziGreenEyes · 01/06/2010 19:46

Roma - Fabric stores are great! Unfortunately I am only able to sew curtains and cushion covers, i.e. straight lines. I once tried to make a dress and it was a total disaster.

Verity - the WC dress is gorgeous for summer! It is simple yet versatile. Can't wear any deep V-necks though (lack of cleavage...)

notyummy - I am really impressed by your exercise regime. I only do 60mins of yoga or Pilates per week and really need to work on my stamina. I'm out of breath after running for a minute and, like I said before, the Shred DVD, makes me want to hide behind the sofa. Maybe I could try one of the couch to 5k podcast things. Has anybody any experience with that kind of thing?

carciofi · 01/06/2010 19:59

Marsha, yes please, that would be great!

LTEC, it is Revolve

carciofi · 01/06/2010 20:01

Sorry Rufus, just saw your message.
Thanks, I have heard good things about the Burrow. I went to Sutton Park. Anywhere else I should check out?

DolceeBanana · 01/06/2010 20:23

I am totlly fine guys, thanks for askin g though...hysteria has waned thankfully...!

Dead impressed Roma for making curtains...I don't have the patience, although I am a bit of a pernickety old thing, so always have to go to the best for these things which always means £££s sadly....

Fritzi - I would have thought that no cleavage would be the exact reason for going for a low cut top....You can absolutely get away with it. Cleavage is not a good look....not classy...

NY I want JAs body too....Nah, she's natural...but man and kid less so thank your lucky stars ladies!!! I really like her....far preferable to that old vampire Ang...Only men rate the woman ime...and only for looks...I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about...sorry if you're a dead ringer for Ang...having said that, never really gone for Brad types either...I think he's slightly strange looking...

If you could look like anyone - who would it be? I'd love to look like Giselle Bundchen...

monkeysmama · 01/06/2010 20:24

Ciao!

Back from sunny Portugal where I had a wonderful, uplifting time with dd, mum and sister. I am very lucky to be blessed with having two such marvellous women in my life (& my mini marvel too ).

Had some challenges to pierce the bliss! Dd was sick over my head as I tasted her milk at airport security, then again seven times on plane, in hire care etc. The next day she felt better only to announce a hatred of sand as we arrived at the beach and then refused to remove her sock and trainers (how English!) or to venture onto beach for the entire holiday. The best moment came in a restaurant when a rather irksome guitarist wouldn't move from our table. During a lull in his "music" she loudly announced "you jump in river please". When he failed to respond (she is from London so thinks the sea is a river) she shouted "Jesus Christ" as loud as she could. I was stunned. That outburst seemed to relax her though and she was angelic for the rest of the holiday.

Now I am looking forward to the next holiday with the ils in two weeks.

Dp rather sweetly tried to cover up the fact we have no kitchen still by putting vases of flowers around the cavern formerly known as kitchen. Think he thought it would also detract from the fact the floors aren't finished either. Oh joy.

Anyway - clothes.

I made a purchase today - a bag in Peacocks for my next holiday. A lot of their stuff is tat but occasionally they have some brilliant things. I have a dress from there I've had years that is one of my most complimented items. They had another nice one in the same size (they're big) in a baby blue with white spots and a red trim.

I still need an outfit for this wedding next month. Someone suggested a lovely draped dress for me & I tried to order it but my computer went down and I didn't try again and I can't find the link anywhere now. I need something that will make me look stylish, tanned and will go with these. It also needs to be good for a mid September wedding. Oh, and I need styling tips too - what kind of cover up would I wear? I am a size 12 (10 on a good day), 34F, am quite tall and have good legs, bum and not good tummy. That feels like a lonely hearts introduction!

Hope everyone is well. Am off to read through what I have missed while I sip a cold white wine and pretend I can't see the bomb site that is my home.

Fleecy · 01/06/2010 20:30

Where's the Jen A pic? Must see for myself!

blossoming my DD had conjunctivitis, passed it on to DS, it cleared up and he has now got it back again. Might have to get some antibiotics if it hasn't cleared up by the end of the week, poor boy!

I am such a sheep and have ordered the Dukan diet for myself. Am determined to lose that last half a stone (lost my 'last' half a stone but still carrying a little extra fat) and think DH would approve of a meat diet. He's not a fan of veggie days and I do like to have them a couple of times a week.

I have the spanx higher power and they're great. I don't wear them a lot but they really come into their own if you want to wear a tight dress out to a big dinner

Well done on curtain-making roma that's all I've ever made too! Am disproportionately (sp?) proud of mine.

DC do crafts on Thurs/Fri when our nanny comes in. DH and I are rubbish at clearing up.

notyummy · 01/06/2010 20:36

Jen here

Glad you had a good holiday MM.

Fleecy · 01/06/2010 20:44

Wow - she looks great! WOuldn't fancy that much exercise myself though - all things in moderation and all that!

Hi MM Welcome back! We had our kitchen done last year. It's worth it afterwards, I promise

LetThemEatCake · 01/06/2010 20:44

roma yes I did get it, thanks a million, you little beauty.

Fritz am so glad you got the Bloch shoes aren;t they lovely?? am dead pleased with mine. And don't be daft about 'copying' - you name any item of clothing and it's practically a given that at least 3 of us will have it .

re: lovely modelling pics. Didn't do a lot as a module 'back in the day' but do have some nice pics from the things I did, my fave being a makeup ad ... I'd had, ahem, rather a large one the previous day, lots of substances imbibed and as a result my squiffy eye (one a bit smaller than the other, am no symmetrical Turlington, me) was slightly more lazy than usual. Photographer getting very agitated, eventually had to shoot pic with me looking over shoulder, so view of dodgy eye minimal. . For all that, is a nice photo.

welcome back mm your story about your dd made me laugh. Lots of good dc stories on this thread.

well done on the weight loss Fleecy are you still aiming for the weight we discussed previously

oh, btw - my card has ben stopped - fradulent activity!! o shopping for me ...

finally - engagement party this weekend, super cool Hoxton-y filmy couple, what to wear??
