Thanks to ltec for the new title.

Hi there..I think I need a fresh start so I am namechanging..I'm not a big poster but I love this thread..I was FormerlyKnownAs Bodsmum.I'm not confident about posting this because any lurkers will probably work out who I am..as you might know I have 2dds..about a week and a half ago my babydd(8weeks)was screaming through the night with a fever..she is usually an amazing, calm, smiley child so we saw the g.p on call doc who told us babies get viruses/it's good for them etc etc..long and short of it is I wasn't convinced, took her to A and E and she was in hospital for 5 days, treated for meningitis...the reason I wanted to share is the symptoms were so hard for the doc to spot..please trust your instincts.

Dolce..I'm not suprised you were so shaken..it's the whatifs playing on your mind..men do seem to go into practical mode don't they..I came off a roundabout in the rain on my way to a breastbiopsy, years ago and narrowly missed a lampost..my ex insisted I learn how to change the flat tyre then and there!

re-grammar/spelling..my brain is so fudddled I thought it was nottinghill carnival this weekend so I'm sure I'm failing miserably on both.

O.k back to fashion..Bought a couple of lovely summery bits in h and m yesterday and discussed with fellow queuer how wise that was considering weather

blossoming..i ordered that oasis jacket when 20% off but ended up returning it as I didn't like the fact the buttons had 'oasis denim' on them

ltec..thank you so much for posting info on strapless plus bfing especially after a tough day with your dad..think at the moment bf too frequent for me to pull off this look successfully.

fleecey..you always post such lovely positive posts..I feel so sad that so many of the posters who are clearly beautiful are not able to enjoy their attributes.I too have to admit to belly button ishoos too..can you have surgery on them..mine used to be glorious

roma..I was so excited you call yourself an arch feminist on that thread..It's awful that women don't like to own that label as they think you have to hate men and shun looking pretty when clearly that's not the case.

will shut up now and go away to give everyone else a chance to post!

Romanarama · 31/05/2010 10:57

Formerbod big hugs for you and your dd, is she OK?

notyummy · 31/05/2010 10:59

Formerly - how scary! And well done on ensuring she got the right treatment.

FormerlyKnownAs · 31/05/2010 11:18

Thank you roma and ny dd2 back to smiley self but think I'm still in shock..last week calling dd1s nursery owner by the wrong name repeatedly..coming back to this thread helps make me feel normal again..

rufus101 · 31/05/2010 11:18

formerly how awful for you. My DD had pneumococcal meningitis when she was 2. I "knew" she had meningitis(am in medical field) and kept pleading with them in A/E that she was very unwell. Awful experience.
NY thanks for the recommendations! Will definitely look out that Rodial. Am a sucker for anything like that, especiall y on a recommendation!

hellsbelles · 31/05/2010 12:51

formerly - so sorry to hear what you all went through. But how amazing that you knew and had the presence of mind to get done what she needed.

NY - thanks for the links...I am very tempted by bottom lift

hellsbelles · 31/05/2010 13:20

Is this look boring? I'm rubbish on shoes but I like these? Am I insane (probably).

Boring update on M&S order...

this was o.k. on me and a cheap way of doing the denim thing?not a great fit but it looked good (I think) with my tan glads and it?s not as weirdly shiny IRL. It was actually better than a £££ NAP one I ordered and sent back

this did nothing for me. I know there are threads extolling its virtues but it just didn?t work for me (it has a weird longer length thing going on at the back)

I thought this may have a Vanessa Brunoish look to it?alas no. Would probably work on someone slimmer.

Romanarama · 31/05/2010 13:20

It's so cold here again. Why???? I'm back in boyfriend jeans and Ash high tops again.

I just asked my cleaner to clean the fridge before putting the shopping away, and she was still doing it 1 1/2 hours later. Is that amazing? I thought so. How long can it take to wash 2 veg trays and wipe 4 shelves??? I must get a new cleaner.

notyummy · 31/05/2010 13:26

Ladies- Just remembered to share this chat with my dd yesterday-I think she is destined to grow up A&W like us.

She had out some magnetic doll shapes that have different outfits you can select and put them. She announced that they were dressing up to get married. But then:

'Oh no, they can't get married because they haven't got a man.'

Me: 'Yes they can. Ladies can marry ladies and men can marry men if they love each other. What about Aunty Pauline and Aunty Trish.'

(My Ozzie Aunty and her very long term partner are finally looking to tie the knot after about 25 years together.Dd loves Ozzie Great Aunt and we arehoping to do a long family holiday Down Under to visit her in the next coupleof years.)

Dd(Delighted): 'But that's GREAT!That means if ladies get married that can wear each others clothes and shoes and have more to choose from. I think I will marry a lady when I am older.' (She's 3.10!)

Ah yes, a chip off the old block......

notyummy · 31/05/2010 13:28

Hells- Like that t shirt dress.Sorry to hear the stripey dress didn't work.I thought it looked good on the ensure-what didn't suit?

rufus101 · 31/05/2010 13:30

Love the NAP dress Helles and the M and S denim look one. Can see how the stripey one would be dodgy.

Yes your DD sounds like a chip off the old block NY! So cute!

notyummy · 31/05/2010 13:32

Looked good on the website. Bloody predictive text!

Fleecy · 31/05/2010 14:05

OWW glad you got your white top.

Choo I love F1 - very jealous. Have fun!

NY you're very disciplined! I use one face cream and one eye cream and body brush my arms, legs and bum. That's it for me! Regarding the spots, do you ever rest your chin on your hands? That's usually when I get chin spots. I have been taking these for a month and my skin is improving, despite me not getting enough sleep. No more patchy flaky bits and less spots. Was sceptical, am now pleased!

formerly how utterly terrifying for you! What an awful experience. I hope she's doing fine now and you're doing okay too. And yes, I do believe a tummy tuck is the only real solution but bio oil and exercise will have to do for now in case we do go for no. 3. Once I know we're done, am very tempted to have it! Perhaps tulpe can report back after hers?

Romanarama · 31/05/2010 14:08

ny I had a serious acne problem a year ago, but am taking spironolactone and now have perfect skin. A bit drastic for a few spots, but bear in mind if it gets worse.

LetThemEatCake · 31/05/2010 14:11

hells I like that look, am doing similar with h&m tshirts dress and jewel encrusted antik batik sandals. Also have khaki tank from river island with shoulder sequins and embellishment.

formerly my gosh, how awful, you poor thing but am so glad all well. how gratifying (iyswim) to have your maternal instincts validated. We must never doubt ourselves!

Bloody weather, kept khakis on but changed into black tank, black biker, black ballets, shocking pink scarf. Khakis are loose! have already sized down once so came to leon at spitalfields for huuuuuuge lunch. Yum.

hellsbelles · 31/05/2010 14:28

NY - so wise at such a young age

The stripy one is fine but for some reason it's longer at the back...in an odd way. It was one of those things that I'd normally keep because it's 'o.k' but never end up wearing as I have better...so I thought it was better to send back

LTEC - I wondered where I got the idea of bright pink scarf with my khakis and black tees...it must have been you

notyummy · 31/05/2010 14:46

OK. Someone mentioned the holiday capsule wardrobe. Now, you can tell DH is away, as he would scoff mightily at this, but I have started sorting mine out, and decided to capture it on film. Feedback of all kind welcome!

Capsule wardrobe on profile as of now....

MarshaBrady · 31/05/2010 14:53

Hells love the Phillip Lim dress.

roary · 31/05/2010 14:55

yummy must leave off the not after seeing yr pics and wardrobe!! Looks great. Are you generally in to navy or is it a capsule thing?? My wardrobe is very red/pink capsule or otherwise.

MarshaBrady · 31/05/2010 14:59

Good cw NotYummy. Did you get the Sunday Times? They had a thing on African prints - a nice maxi dress from asos Africa. Good idea I thought.

Zembo · 31/05/2010 15:15

Hi ladies. I'm still around but life getting in the way of posting

Cake I ended up returning the khakis as really didn't think the ripped look was a good idea with my little ones around . Loved the fit and colour though but unfortunately haven't found a replacement pair yet. I did however buy this ASOS dress for work and love it, had a complement the first time I wore it - so thanks for linking to it. You sound like you've lost loads of weight now, good for you - I'd try a bit harder if I was sure of not having another DC i.e. don't want to reduce my chances of conception even more in my old age am down to around 48.5kg which is not bad for me, but I'm a Tracey wannabe!

Notyummy impressed by your dedication to your skin.

Hells love the NAP dress

Formerly so glad to hear everything ok now and well done on listening to your instincts - same happened to a friend of mine, her DC ended up in hosp for weeks.

Can anyone recommend a sparkly lipgloss? Think it would look good if we ever get some sunshine.

Romanarama · 31/05/2010 15:34

ny and anyone else annoyed by spots, I really recommend the Avene Cleanance range suncream for your face (also their cleanance moisturiser). I find sun cream a spot provoker but this one's really good.

Love the capsule wardrobe ny, and you and your dd are both beautiful.

Off to pick up the boys from their first day ever on the school bus. I welled up as the door shut on them this morning and ds3 looked back to see whether I was coming too. He's only 4yo bless - I sometimes think I should take them out of school, give up work and HE (somewhere warmer and prettier than here!). It all seems unnecessarily stressful somehow . A good friend of mine grew up for 10 years of her childhood on a sailing boat in the med, without going to school at all. I met her doing our degrees at Oxford, and she's having a wonderful career. So no harm done, quite the contrary.

(Sorry for the lack of S&B content, will shut up now)

Romanarama · 31/05/2010 15:35

btw I really like my bareMinerals lipgloss, it makes your lips all tingly and minty.

MarshaBrady · 31/05/2010 15:43

Zembo I don't own scales but 48kg sounds light to me.

Roman I sympathise, my parents have a spare and empty beach house in the most beautiful place. I sometimes imagine a different life. Btw ot but do you have beautiful photos from when you were a model?

notyummy · 31/05/2010 18:29

Roma - I know exactly how you feel about the whole school think. Dd, who will have just turned 4, will be starting 'big school' in Sept and I am dreading it. Although I work 4 long days at the moment and therefore she used to that, at least we have our Fridays together and now that will go.

Thanks for the skin recommends - will look into them. My spots come and go, and rarely bad, but I have noticed stress and alcohol (boo!) def make them worse.

Roary - I do quite like blue, but the colour thing is accident more than design tbh! As a redhead I love blue, purple and green.

Thanks for the kind comments as well.
