Welcome back hells! Great that you're getting an H&M

I don't like Boden apart from a few of the children's clothes but suppose it is aspirational for some people. One of the playgroups I go to is like a Boden fashion show which is strange because nowhere else around here is and I don't come across these women anywhere else!

Obv not doing school run myself yet but always take a keen interest when we are passing - mostly run of the mill things like skinnies & pumps / boots & long t shirts or jumpers but a fair few fleeces and uggs on show

I am hoping that we move back down South before DD starts school but I guess I'll have to up my game a bit if we do.

My mum, bless her, has no idea - when I got my Ash high tops in the cocosa sale and told her they were £60 she said "goodness! And what were they reduced to?" She balks at spending money on clothes but is wise and avid in her own way and buys decent staples from the debenhams and M&S sales that last her years and she always looks presentable if not the height of fashion.

BTW Cakey - DarrellRivers has started a thread cooing with delight at your fashion tips on your blog - check out S&B thread.

I'm in north Wales romanarama. dc1 scared of dogs so walking, say along the lake's footpath, can be quite fraught.
esher, dc1 also v tired of the strain of being good all day after school. We've had a bad week of meltdowns. When I was in the gym last night dh found him trying to buy an iPhone on line. He's 5. There's an ad on tv for a child's game app that's why. Terrible.

MarshaBrady · 30/04/2010 13:45

Me too Bunny love beautiful things. Garden, house, other people, my darling dc!

I have an equally nap loving friend at the gates (ahem), good stuff.

Roman I am not that keen on dogs either but yours is so cute!

hellsbelles · 30/04/2010 13:48

Roman - agree that is one gorgeous dog!

Mrsjuan - that made me chuckle - exactly what my DM would say - is DD better now?

Off to check out our leaders complimentary thread!

bunnymother · 30/04/2010 13:49

Marsha - since have a fellow beauty lover, will go so far as to say I tell DH about beautiful looking people all the time ie "DH, look, isn't she stunning?!", DH: "hmm, pretty but not stunning", me: "YES, she is, look at her beautiful [insert ie hair]". Its just so uplifting to see beautiful things and people. I do also point out things ie houses, cars, clothes, shoes. You name it! Poor DH.

hellsbelles · 30/04/2010 13:51

Bunny & Marsha - couldn't agree more!

MarshaBrady · 30/04/2010 13:54

Ha me too Bunny. Dh is interested too (he also deals with the visual at work). One of our marital bonds. Gorgeous people!

Fel1x · 30/04/2010 13:56

Roman - your dog is so cute!
I am thinking vaguely about getting a dog, but unsure as DS1, having ASD is a little over excitable sometimes and not sure if better to wait till he is a bit older. How is your dog getting on with your DS's?

MrsJ - how is your DD today?

redshoesnoknickers · 30/04/2010 14:01

Fe1ix how old is your DS? Mine has ASD too and is 5. We recently got a couple of guinea pigs as he loves animals and i couldn't cope with the responsibility of a dog. He likes them - one is his and one his sister's - Bea called hers Lilly. I asked Charlie what he wanted to name his and he said "guinea" so Guinea the guinea pig it is!!

bunnymother · 30/04/2010 14:07

Also, Roma, that cake on your profile is awesome!!

mrsjuan · 30/04/2010 14:08

I like looking at beautiful people too - love having a good coffee and people watching in upmarket cities. Also love beautiful scenery and have endless photos which never seem to look as amazing as the actual place.

Thanks for asking about DD. She doesn't seem to be coughing as much and her eyes have pretty much cleared up but she's not herself and still very sleepy. She is at least eating a little more though so hopefully that combined with the a/bs will perk her up soon.

mrsjuan · 30/04/2010 14:12

Meant to add that we have a dog and he's great - very laid back and well behaved (can't take the credit as he's a rescue and pretty much came like that).

DD worships him (although he's indifferent towards her except when he hears her highchair buckles being done up) and his name was her first word

blossoming · 30/04/2010 14:25

I hate it when people say 'was it expensive'. You know it's because they're really nosey and want ammunition against you. My sis being a case in point. She'll be at the school gates this afternoon, hair scraped back, looking me up and down. I suppose I have invaded her territory somewhat having moved back recently where she's been home since uni.
I love beauty too, it's why I have such an issue with the hair scraped back, no make up thing.

bunnymother · 30/04/2010 14:35

I was watching an episode of Rumpole, and Hilda was commenting to Rumpole how common it was for a guest of theirs to have commented on their things. I was because I am forever telling people if I like things. Perhaps I should keep my own counsel, so as to revealing how common I am avoid seeming common.

Asking whether something someone owns was expensive is just wrong, though. HOW is that relevant??

Fel1x · 30/04/2010 14:44

redshoes - DS1 is 4.5, he will be 5 in October. He has mild ASD, only verbally diagnosed at the moment by his paed (we are awaiting the official multi assessment appt). Not sure whether they will diagnose Aspergers (which is what I think he has) or HFA as he has a bit of a speech delay.
I am v nervous of him starting school , DH thinks I am too over protective but I worry that he will escape and run off or that he wont eat anything while there or have no friends EEK!!
How is your DS getting on at school?

On a fashion note - I am wearing green and white cotton loose vest top today that I picked up from Tescos yesterday (when on emergency nappy buying run!) and have had 2 compliments already Cant find it on the website to link to though...

Has anyone seen the couture range of Florence and Fred at Tescos??? v odd.
Dresses and tops for over 100 each in Tescos! There was a quite nice dress for 140, so am waiting till none of it sells and will grab it for 40 in the sale!!

hellsbelles · 30/04/2010 14:51

bunny & blossoming - I have a feeling it's so that if the answer is 'yes' then that (in the opinion of the asker) is the only reason why the said wearer is looking good. So sort of 'oh well of course she looks nice - she spends a fortune' blah blah.

Totally daft logic in reality. I have managed to look shite in expensive stuff and good in cheap things....just depending on how badly/well chosen they were.

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 15:43

Nursery run has a mix of Mummies...working mummies in smart corp and country sahm's in surprisingly on trend (Cotswold's dear), or coloured hunters and barbour internationals as Badminton is just up t'road.....

More horses on road, and absolutely terrified of 'em, after a scare a while...not good round here...have a 4x4 (nec for 3 kids and country lanes to contend with, before anyone gets judgey !!!)and still feel unsafe driving past at about 3 mph !

Wore my Kew rolled sleeve mac, breton, skinnies and ballets and felt good......

Cahu - leopard ballets brilliant ! Thanks for the rec!!!

Friends for dinner tomorrow, so wearing Brora linen dress in jade and black pumps...plus beautiful amber and silver necklace from Prague...pressie from DH...

Have spent morning rearranging house (as you do!)...and almost fell down the stairs with an armchair !!!

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 15:53

Hells - sympathies too from me on cleaner...mine perfectly sweet but needs constantly reminding what she is there to do!! I.e. I can perfectly push the vac and spray a bit of polish but I want a really thorough, deep clean each week. She does 3 hours....and I am a v tidy person, so she doesn't have a bad job....She also on the 2nd week of being with us, brought a bag of her DDs old clothes and offered them to me for my younger DD. I was aghast,, but did take them cringingly and must admit sent them straight to charidee....

Only this week she asked my DD if she'd like some new sandals (cast offs of her DDs), which I refused(!), and has tried to get me to buy - books, cosmetics (you guessed it), and Jamie at home stuff!!!!! I despair...I tried to be friendly (maybe that's where I went wrong), and now revert to being cordial...I shall flip one day...I do have a very open face, I'm told, in that, in my private life most people can read my thoughts because they are written all over my face...so, why does she not read: 'FFS, NO THANK YOU'!!!!!!

blossoming · 30/04/2010 16:01

Another pet hate is, 'is that new?'

whelk, I just stood at the school gates in my mac in the pouring rain. Had the sleeves rolled up too, bad idea. I was dry underneath though.

DolceeBanana · 30/04/2010 16:01

Blossoming - do you get on with your sis? I ask, because I have a sis who I don't really see and I think that's sad...and I really hope that mine are close when they grow up...I shall try and make the conditions right for this to be the case anyway....

Fel1x · 30/04/2010 16:06

Dolce and Hells - I am lucky with my cleaner I think. She is very fast at cleaning and does a good job - gets through loads in her 2 hours a week, but she is slightly mad (a small price to pay I guess!). I think she despairs at my cluttered habits and likes to re-arrange things. My favourite tims she has re-arranged was one time when I was trying on various necklaces/jewellery with outfits and had left them lying on my bedside table she decided to 'tidy' up my jewellery and went round and gathered up all jewellery she could find and packaged it all up in sandwich bags from the kitchen
She is always re-arranging my kitchen cupboards and getting all my tupperware pots out to put 'collections' of things in.
She also gets DS's step stool down from the bathroom to stand on when cleaning the hob in the kitchen each week as she is so short, bless her

Fel1x · 30/04/2010 16:08

oh blossoming, i hate 'is that new?'
always sounds more like 'have you been shopping again ?' to me!

Fel1x · 30/04/2010 16:12

I've got a question for you girls... am taking Dcs to a charity rugby match tomorrow. Will be mostly milling about with Dcs playing on the bouncy castle, eating etc rather than watching the match as the Dcs wont sit still that long! BUT what sort of thing should I wear??

traceybath · 30/04/2010 16:20

My cleaners are fab - do a way better job than I do.

What do you think of these for wearing with skinnies in this inbetweeny weather?

In the grey.
