Ollie- poor DS and you! It's always a bit nerve-racking but I'm sure he'll be fine! My nephew sort of did this...and was okay in the end - he was about 5 at the time...take care!

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 18:49

yikes OWW - wincing and crossing my legs at the thought of it. You poor thing, waiting at home and poor, poor little ds. Hope he is 100% fine very soon and that this ends up being prime speech material for his 21st/ wedding etc. Hugs to you and him in the meantime

Oh Ollie, poor DS, that sounds so painful. I hope that he is ok and back home with Dh soon.

Re holidays - I am a bit to admit this due to previous conversations!! but we are going to Centerparcs this year for the first time. Seemed worth a try as flying is too much stress with the little ones still yet. We are going in June, so I'll let you all know my verdict when we get back!!!

I have ordered a few bits and bobs from New Look today.
BF cardigan in pink/nude
turn up chinos
what woudl you wear these with as a top? any ideas??
tan glad
am not too sure on these though. i really want some tan glads but not sure what these will be like in RL
maxi dress
am hoping this will skim rather than cling to my lumps and bumps!
heeled glads
I just really like this style and am wondering whether they would go with...

this dress which was linked to earlier a bit further down and I am in love with

What do you think of my haul and how would you wear it??

Fel1x · 29/04/2010 19:43

Re the weight thing - I def agree that its easier to look good in cheaper clothes if you are thin.
I used to be thinner than I am now. I've always averaged a size 10 and was a size 8 before DS2 was born. Since having him (2 yrs!) I have been a size 12, which is the biggest I've been and I do feel like its too heavy for my frame. I'm only 5'4" so size 12 is biggish for me and I am definitely finding it harder to feel as if I look good in lots of clothes.
I really need to lose a bit, need to find a good diet!!

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 20:03

just catching up on the day's posts while bfing the bub

Roman have a fabulous time tonight; you will, of course, look spectacular. Glad your dh apologised. I can never even phone mine, phones must be off while filming!! Always quite stressful when a baby is due

MrsJ so sorry to hear about your dd, hope she is back to her sunny self soon. Know what you mean about feeling useless but what could be better for a poorly little one than to have lots of love & cuddles from mummy? Don't doubt yourself

re childcare/ help for me - I am incredibly precious about my personal space and could not have someone, however nice, coming in to help me. We are almost constantly with other mums & kids MrsJ - always meeting up whether out or at home - but tbh I don't find it at all relaxing (just more noise, and from the mums too!!) - I just do it bc it's good for the kids to socialise, really. I actually really like being with my little gang but I do realise that I've been burning the candle at both ends a bit so am taking a bit of a break from working unless something fabulous gets offered. At least then I can get to bed at a reasonable time.

Anyway, me me me blah blah blah ... boring

Fel1x - I'd wear the chinos with a plain tank tucked in, and the maxi with a denim jacket with the sleeves turned back and glads, stacked bangles and maybe a long necklace. Not sure about the glads bc of the wedge ... did you particularly want some height? I got flat tan ones from Primark for £4, they've actually been admired several times so far..? not online though, there's the rub...

Whelk · 29/04/2010 20:37

Ollie - I hope your ds is OK. i'm curling my toes and wincing just thinking of him.

Mrs Juan - I hope your little dd is OK too. Its awful when they are ill but keeping her well hydrated and cuddled is all you can do, so you are doing all the right things.

Everything - your outfit is just gorgeous. The dress, the hat and the nude shoes. You will look stunning! The hat is amazing

Fleecy - thanks for the advice. I call myself 5ft 8 too!! I think I will give it a whirl!

LTEC - I think taking a break from the work will probably do you good. Be kind to yourself. Are you still blogging? Can you link to it? Sorry if you already have. I struggle to keep up with this thread!

On the weight thing I am slimmer than I ever have been mostly because dd2 has serious allergies to dairy and eggs and I am having to avoid anything containing them while breastfeeding her. I wouln't recommend it as its not much fun but good preparation for working out how to fill her with calcium (sardines and spinach anyone?)and all of the treats she can have (after eight mints!).

bunnymother · 29/04/2010 20:49

OWW - ouch, poor little DS1. Hope your little boy is OK. Your heart really does fly into your mouth when your little one is hurt, doesn't it?! DD is still only little (10 months' old) and I get really upset when she gets hurt (although try v hard not to show it). Don't imagine it gets any easier. I am no longer surprised my parents couldn't sleep when I went out at night.

Cakey - really glad to hear you aren't going to work for a bit. I did wonder how on earth you were doing all that you do, and came to the conclusion that you are hyperactive? Am a comparative sloth. DD has a babysitter once a week and she is delightful, but these are personal choices. I adore DD, but am not as fun as her babysitter (DH said she is basically a Wiggle as far as DD is concerned - complete entertainment!) so I think its good for her to enjoy time with someone else. But am v hesitant increasing the childcare and couldn't have someone in my home w me often (babysitter heads out w DD to the park).

notyummy and Roma - you really do have the most luxe holidays, don't you?! We are thinking of UK this year as DD wasn't particularly easy to travel w (requires CONSTANT ever-changing entertainment - v difficult when on a train or plane). V .

Everything - I have always wanted to go to Crete (aka place of Zorba), and friends went last year and had the most fantastic time. Can understand you feeling some apprehension if you think its going to bring things to a head w your DH, though. I think the lace shoes are last season, but I love them and don't, personally, follow fashion that closely (or am I kidding myself?!) - if something is beautiful to me I wear it.

MrsJuan - DD was in similar position to your DD about a month ago, and I am convinced that loving hugs and kisses from mummy/daddy are exactly what they need. That and constant sips of water. DD cried so sadly when I put her down when she was sick, my poor babylicious. They do bounce back amazingly, though, don't they?!

Verity - those Lanvin shoes, so beautiful, I feel faint...

blossoming · 29/04/2010 20:54

That will be a struggle whelk. I have just remembered a particular dismal time in my life. I became vegan, only bcs I was skint and lived next to a health food shop. After a year I introduced fish to my diet. So vegan plus fish. I've never been so skinny. Vegan cookbooks will help you whelk.

Whelk · 29/04/2010 21:06

I am thinking of stopping breastfeeding soon so expect I will balloon with gorging myself on cheese, cake and chocolate!!!

I really like the sound of your no-sugar diet as I think I'm a addicted and it sounds like a semsible approach.

DD2 is having her peanut allergy test on Tuesday (its pretty likely that she will be allergic). I am terrified to be honest.

Romanarama- I hope you are having a fabulous evening in your gorgeous rats/heels outfit and getting lots of admiring glances

mrsjuan · 29/04/2010 21:25

OWW - that sounds very very painful - poor little sausage. Hope he gets better soon.

We are being very unadventurous holiday wise this year and going to a cottage in Dorset with my parents. We get on really well with them and they will love spending time with DD so I'm looking forward to it. I would love to go snowboarding at Christmas but I think that's a long shot with an 18month old!

Whelk - don't diss spinach! DD absolutely adores it and will eat it by the handful! In fact I've even been able to tempt her with some today when she's refused virtually everything else.

Felix - I like the second pair of glads (high heels) but not sure about the first ones - they look a bit old fashioned to me. Tempted by the chinos for work.

mrsjuan · 29/04/2010 21:29

Crikey OWW - just realised I used possibly the least appropriate term of endearment for you DS.

notyummy · 29/04/2010 21:33

Really hope he is ok though! MrsJ - your dd too. DD was in hospital for 3 days in Feb with pneumonia so I know how worrying these things are. Hopefully they will both bounce back soon.

Like the NL maxi bunny. Ley us know how it is please! I tried and similar Animal maxi and it didn't flatter me - too baggy round the mid section, but I like the idea od them as a good summer day dress so am tempted to try something else.

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 21:38

Whelk I'll still be blogging here and on sheerluxe, and writing HMM for sheerluxe but that's all just fun really so it doesn't count!

bunny LOL at hyperactive. Far from it.

have been having a bit of a faff on asos tonight - do any of you have any opinions on any of these?

gay Paree

yet another Breton

I love peacocks!

but do I like 'em this much??

would entertain the children, if nothing else

traceybath · 29/04/2010 21:45

LTEC - ease up on the playdates - I found my life got a lot easier when I did this. I hated having my house wrecked by too many children and the squabbles over toys.

Right - love 'yet another breton' and thats gone straight in my basket.

Also like the bangle although I thought you meant the shope peacocks and was rather perplexed .

And rather like the giraffe top/dress.

mrsjuan · 29/04/2010 21:52

I like the yet another breton too and the giraffe vest made me smile. Like the bangle (also thought you meant the shop) too. Don't like the paris top (but what do I know?!)

Have just skimmed through the TDWP thread on chat - what a palaver!

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 21:57

what thread MrsJ???

think I might buy the bangle and the Breton. I like the giraffe but fear it might accentuate my unattractively broad hips. (not that I want to diss my hips - they have been my best friends in pregnancy and childbirth and for that, I love them)

traceybath · 29/04/2010 21:58

LTEC - you are a slinky creature with teeny hips.

MrsJ - I post on the Shiney weight loss thread so am not objective.

Fel1x · 29/04/2010 22:01

LTEC - agree with the others, really like the breton top and the giraffe top, bangle nice too
MrsJ - hope DD has a good night tonight now she is on anti b's and feels a bit better tomorrow

What TDWP thread is it? sounds interesting!

rufus101 · 29/04/2010 22:05

OWW, the exact same thing happened to my DS 3 weeks ago. Didn't bring him to hospital though. Never heard such a blood curdling scream! I'm still traumatised.Haven't delurked in a while but wanted to show my recent on line buys and get some advice! This maxi fits really well, so can highly recommend. Although my DH did say that he thought when he saw it first that it was a really big grobag for baby! But!! He thought it was lovely on, and said "it would look nice with those platform wedge things"Ah! Bless!
maxi This is a bargain, and will look great for work, dress without being ott great work dress Got this from the anthropologie sale, and it's really cute , but really short! Yikes! fabulous steal I think it would look really well with cropped leggings, but can anyone suggest colour and where to get? Also, love those vagabond sandals, but they don't deliver to Ireland. Still can't take the plunge on the hasbeens. Would really like to try them on first in rl. So W and A ladies, can you help?

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 22:05

have just looked through the chat thread and can't work out what you're talking about!! tell!!

what's everyone going to wear tomorrow then?

rufus101 · 29/04/2010 22:06

God! I'm really useless at doing the links! Please excuse my clumsy attempts.

LetThemEatCake · 29/04/2010 22:13

rufus I think American Apparel your best bet for all things leggings-like. Why don;t you order the Hasbeens from ASOS (free delivery & free returns) so that you can try on and with existing clothes without incurring extra expense? I love mine. Wore on dh's birthday with indigo skinnies rolled up just a touch (a la traceybath) and a See by Chloe loose blouse in this style and fabric, but not a dress iyswim

really like the maxi and the work dress!!

mrsjuan · 29/04/2010 22:15

It's the one that says 'not a flounce but..' up to about 550 messages when I flicked through. Can't say I'm siding with one side or the other - just being nosy.

traceybath · 29/04/2010 22:15

Did you have a party in the end or just go out for dinner?

Don't know what to wear tomorrow - its winter again - brrrr.
