sorry couldn't help myself

Esher- sorry you've had a rough time - can't help with shopping trips, weight (i'm sure it's only temporary) or money but my DH ran up a massive bill - over £1500 in exactly the same way while he was in NY and oz last month. he phoned O2 and they laughed and cleared it all for him because of some EU rule about these 'account shocks'. You need to phone your service provider and see if they can do the same.

traceybath · 10/04/2010 21:35

Esher - you do make me laugh!

That is majorly annoying about your iphone and also about over-spending. Until today I'd managed to not buy anything for nearly 2 weeks due to school holidays and lost purse.

I like the topshop blazer - particularly the butterscotch colour. I keep reading how white cropped jackets will be everywhere in the mags but am yet to see any.

And talking of magazines - did anyone read the times mag today and see the photo of Lisa Armstrong. Now I love her writing but lordy what has she done to her lips?

traceybath · 10/04/2010 21:38

Yes, DH was in Ireland for one day last month - his orange bill was over £300! For one bloody day - luckily he gets it back in expenses but honestly.

blossoming · 10/04/2010 21:57

Omg, I'm really worried now. Should have left my iPhone at home when in Paris last week.

traceybath · 10/04/2010 21:59

Carciofi - love these grey skinnies and 20% off Donna Ida next week with Grazia.

GW - I think the wedges are comfy enough for every day. I have very few heels I can wear to walk DD to playschool and back but think these will be fine. I saw the navy ones and they're lovely but I already have a pair of darker wedges so went for the lighter ones.

Tracey - we have an Outfit here and I love it because I can have a quick fix going there - park right outside the front door, be in and out with a new purchase very quickly and it won't be too expensive! Safer than a trip into town where there are multiple shops...

Nice to see you back esher and mrsj!

I didn't think to look in the men's section of Primark. Foolish girl!

LTEC - you won't read this until you're back so hope you had a fab night out

hellsbelles · 10/04/2010 22:19

cake is this the premier of the Marc J dress? Can't wait to hear the reaction it gets.

Esher - that is horrendous. I do hope Mrsjuan's account shock advice works! I do suspect quoting an EU directive at them may will do the trick

StepfordWeeble · 10/04/2010 22:23

Thanks for the welcome, ladies - and Verity, if you do remember where you saw the Lanvin lookalikes, please let me know!

I don't shop enough at the moment to justify a full time place on this thread as am aiming to lose pregnancy plus quite a bit more weight before I really indulge myself... but my plan is then not to make quite so many ill-fitting, scratch-the-shopping-itch type purchases and invest a bit more in a smaller number of things that I love.

...that said, the shopping itch is still niggling away and I find myself umming and ahhring between this stripe plus flower top and this other stripe plus flower top. Leaning towards the Stella, which I think I love and it seems to be disappearing...

Do you wise ladies think though that stripes are now getting a bit ubiquitous? If I'm paying quite a bit for a T-shirt I'd like to be able to wear it next month year...

LetThemEatCake · 10/04/2010 23:06

Oh the glamour!! Have been summoned home to bf. May make it back if ds settles; in meantime am enjoying listening to babysitter on her phone, the teen angst!!

Thanks all for your good night wishes. Dress looks good, it's too big but the tulip shape and origami detail disguises it I think. It's been admired tonight but not as much as my Wang plait which I desperately twisted in as I sat at the traffic lights . Go figure.

Esher you love, that's definitely sulk-worthy. But you do recount it all so amusingly. Will the inlaws give you any time off?

Blossoming so pleased Paris was great and omg, as if you could have looked fat.

Can I go back to the party now please, oh beloved baby????

Stepford - I like the stella t-shirt best.

I've got quite a lot of stripey stuff but every spring/summer the 'nautical' look is 'in' so I reckon you'd get some wear out of it.

LTEC - how annoying being called back to bf but sounds like you were having fun. Did you go back in the end?

Fel1x · 11/04/2010 08:32

Stepford- I like the stella one best too
LTEC - hope you got back to your party. Dress and hair sound fab

hellsbelles · 11/04/2010 09:24

LTEC - hope you made it back! Felix - Stella definitely.

Can you all remind me to be wise as well as avid . We want to move house so no more splurges for a while.

Romanarama · 11/04/2010 09:47

One of my friend's kids (5yo) racked up more than 1000 euros playing an internet game on his phone a few months ago. He got the company to cancel 700 euros as they could see it was the first time he'd had that kind of bill and so believed the story! I think they might do it once, 2nd time would be difficult.

Vin, I got those Choos in black. They were too small so I exchanged them for bigger, which fitted but were so hideously uncomfortable even standing still for 30 secs that I returned them too. Might be my feet, but I wouldn't recommend them. I also thought they looked quite cheap in rl.

traceybath · 11/04/2010 09:59

Hells - I too need to be wise as we want to buy a new house within the next 12 months - hence my new look/warehouse splurge.

But I do want a bag for the summer and was thinking muted metallic or perhaps even a straw/woven affair. The problem I have is that I am a total snob regarding bags and really only like designer ones but can't justify that sort of price - ho hum.

OllieWollieWoo · 11/04/2010 10:41

Nothing like a little Sunday morning purchase to start the day - just got this on a whim whilst DH out at the park with Dss! (He went to France yesterday to stock up on wine and came back with some lovely cheeses/chorizo/anchovies so I'm really looking forward to lunch!)

traceybath · 11/04/2010 11:30

Ollie - pretty scarf!

LTEC - what about these for khaki skinnies? Bit £££ though.

LetThemEatCake · 11/04/2010 11:44

morning all

thanks for your nice thoughts - I made it back. Just in time for cake, which was unfortunately wheat-free and therefore impossible to resist Back on the wagon today.

Hello Stepford!

where are you planning to move to hells - same area or out of London?

OWW i absolutely love that scarf.

re my search for khakis - am thinking to do something like this - first large image to get some more SS wear out of my biker jacket without having to consider buying a grey/ nude one. I don't fancy the ripped tee so am thinking it would work with this in brown, which I already have plus the trusty Primark ankle boots. Good or muttonous?? Closest I've seen is these J Brands but of course I don't want to pay £245 ....

GeorginaWorsley · 11/04/2010 11:53

fleecy thanks for info re New Look shoes.
oww I have glanced at Bon A Parte but never bought.
Will look again

traceybath · 11/04/2010 13:06

LOL ltec!

Oh - what was your matalan stuff like?

LetThemEatCake · 11/04/2010 14:16

oooh yes - well, these shorts were a rather lurid, bubble-gummy shade of pink, plus I bought some emergency M&S shorts on hols (had packed in fit of pessimism, hence no summery clothes) - so they go back.

this dress is very pretty but realised the print and colours v. sim to a Leona Edmiston dress I already have .... also the 12 is too big. The yellow version is very pretty but again, a 12, so will exchange for a 10. Would imagine you'd need a 4-6 which they don't have. Agree with Dolce though - good quality for the price, nice weight of fabric and not an ounce of polyester to be seen!!

what do you think of my leather/ sequins/ khaki - would you wear it? would you point and laugh at someone who did?

Does anyone have any of the Zara linen tees? they are lovely and only £15. Am wearing one today in a bright coral with denim mini and last year's Primark gold flats. And a Winnie the Pooh plaster on my knee. Have got friends over for a barbie this arvo and dh just did a genuine [I think] double-take and told me I looked amazing. Perhaps he is still drunk.

OP posts:
traceybath · 11/04/2010 14:29

Blimey - it must be a lot warmer in london than it is here today - very overcast and not terribly warm.

I have no doubt you are looking amazing though - I bet you caught the sun in cornwall.

I've ordered the coral dress now - boobs would be too big for anything smaller than an 8 I'm sure.

I think the leather/sequins/khaki would look fab.

Am going to zara next saturday morning - ostensibly going shopping minus dc's for DH's birthday present but may end up looking for myself too.

LetThemEatCake · 11/04/2010 14:36

do you have a dh with an April b'day too??

OP posts:
traceybath · 11/04/2010 14:41

Yeap - the 19th. Babysitter and restaurant booked for next saturday and he's buying stuff for his bike so just need to get a few little surprises.

What are you getting your DH? Oh and am going to book him in for a sports massage as he's now cycling obsessed .
