def think they would work on you hells.honest, they're so flattering, they will be my rolled-up chino alternative this summer.

I think metallic heels with that dress. Have you seem the Jimmy Choo china strappy sandals? You may want something a bit lower though?

In the car en route to spitalfields to rock it with the cool kids

LOL at tracey's dh on office babysitting duty while she spraytans!

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 12:00

Oh I feel bad - I think some of you think the dress I linked to is for my Mum! It's for me to wear to her wedding!!

I am buying her dress as well but it's proving to a bit a tricky - we have entirely different tastes and getting her to let me spend more a very small on her is proving a real challenge (she is very anti designer).

She found one online that she loves - I've ordered it for her in the hope she realises that in RL it's a bit tat! but I have to get her what she wants NOT what I want so I'm trying to behave.

LTEC - I will order those if you don't mind. Too good to miss!

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 12:00

should read 'very small amount'

ApuskiDusky · 19/03/2010 12:08

LTEC, those trousers are a real bargain, and I have duly ordered, thanks..... and because I'm a sucker who thinks a tenner isn't enough to spend, I had a good browse and also ordered the Silence & Noise biker cardigan (can't get the specific link to work). here

Hells, I love that dress, very gorgeous. I only have one wedding to go to this year, I think, and I will be 33 wks by then - have opted for this after much umming and ahhing over the question of lace.

And can I just say, this is fun!! Glad I de-lurked.

Romanarama · 19/03/2010 12:53

That Moschino is lovely. What a good choice.

Listen, I've been trying to wear my rats, but can't find anything that's right to go with them so need to buy something. Do they have to be with heels so only for nights out? Did we have any good ideas for tops earlier when I wasn't paying attention? Please will someone who's had a successful outing in theirs advise!!

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 12:58

apuski - I've been scared off lace after my vanessa bruno underarm lace adventure . I hope it works out better for you

Roman - I have yet to perfectly style the rats - so will watch for advice with interest

Romanarama · 19/03/2010 13:38

I think they need not just the bum covered, but a good 1/2 way down the thighs. I'd like a day look for them, or at least something not too dressy. I'm not often in a nightclub these days

LetThemEatCake · 19/03/2010 14:14

have worn my rats with longish tank and high tops by day. Also with high ankle boots longish tee and tux type jacket by night. Have not generally worn with top as long as mid-thigh. But am slapper. roman have you seen the swan tee that hells and I have? Looks good with rats. Also the exposed zip splendid tunic on m-w - esher got it and said good- I tried on in rl and too long and voluminous for my liking but might be in keeping with what you're thinking? They also look good with ballet pumps as long as you have skinny legs which by all accounts you do!

Fleecy · 19/03/2010 14:33

Afternoon everyone, I am lucky to be here having worked so hard at my pump circuit class this morning that I could barely get up the stairs to my laptop afterwards!

roma sorry to hear it didn't go well. My rats day look is high tops and a lightweight loose knit.

hana love love love the dress - and you should wear something fabulous for your sister's wedding.

tracey of your spray tan. I have xen tanned my face to keep me going. It doesn't really look different to my neck and chest but stops me looking quite so washed out! That will have to do for now.

hells love that dress too - hope it's as good in rl

Am I right in thinking one of us is a personal trainer? Who is it? Would you mind if I picked your brains very quickly?

notyummy · 19/03/2010 15:23

Fleecy - I know how you feel. Did a 7 mile run this morning in the wind and am feeling quite tired!

LetThemEatCake · 19/03/2010 15:30

hana I totally missed that red dress - wow - would look amazing on you, total siren. I am rubbish at advising on warm things though as I prefer to be cold and not have the look of the dress compromised . Just a wrap maybe? With all the detail of the neck/ shoulder area you don't really want to be going down the shrug/ jacket/ cardi route

something purple would look quite delish.

LetThemEatCake · 19/03/2010 15:34

roman

swan tee

splendid dress as per esher

a bit too long I think .. maybe not though

LetThemEatCake · 19/03/2010 15:36

anyone looking for some tailored harems?

monkeysmama · 19/03/2010 15:59

LTEC I like those harems a lot but they're polyester and despite the news I shared of polyester being the new thing I am not convinced. Everything I have ordered with it has gone back.

These arrived today but are going back. I can't decide if it is the shape I don't like or that they are too big. I've ordered a size 10 instead and we'll see. This in the white and navy goes back too. Too thin and cotton looks a bit cheap. Kept this asos cardigan though - I really like it.

Hells I love the Moschino dress for you (I wondered if you'd not want it after the misunderstandings ) and think it'll look stunning. Is it the blue dress from your other thread you've ordered for your mum? I don't know if it was the colour or what but there was something about it I really liked . Not for me you understand!

How will you wear those UO trousers Cakey and co? Might get some too though am getting fed up of things in my wardrobe I can't wear. My dsis met me wearing ballerinas with bare feet today which made me think spring is coming though now it is raining so she will have wet feet.

Feeling a bit . Went for a coffee with mate and her LO after dancing this morning. There were a group of 70 somethings and a younger woman sat a few tables away, all glammed up (those gold shaded glasses, lots of diamonds and curls). We'd just arrived and our LOs were laughing and saying "cake, cake" as we sat down to wait for our order. One of the old girls then turns round and says, with much venom, "can't you shut that child up. Shut up child". I was stunned. Our LOs were really upset by the woman shouting and my dd kept asking to leave . I decided to say something ("you should be ashamed talking to a 2yo like that" etc. tho I did then swear) and they started saying I was a bad mum for letting my child shout in a public place . It's left me seething all afternoon and dd keeps saying "cafe, no cake lady angry".

Enough of my ramblings - off to watch Snowman dvd (again).

monkeysmama · 19/03/2010 16:00

Smiley tastic. Excuse me.

bodsmum · 19/03/2010 16:15

...i'm fuming on your and DD's behalf MM..what a witch!..i dream of being a blingy shadetoting oldie but she is letting the side down..all glamour,no heart whatsoever.

Hanaflower..another incredible dresslink to drool over..feel like a higher power is mocking me as none of them preg. and b.f friendlyplus i really need someone to get married so i can get dressed up!

LetThemEatCake · 19/03/2010 16:30

Roman - another rats top here - I was fine in the small so I've no doubt that XS would be fine for you

MM how revolting, what old bats. Had a similar sitch in Clapham a few years ago when dd was just under 1 and I was about 5m pg with ds1 ... in a cafe waiting for a friend and two glammy women who had clearly never been near a child nearby ... dd making lots of pre-verbal squeals at the sight of a smoothie, one lady turned around and said "Stop that dreadful noise" in a very sharp ToV. I angrily said "excuse me, I will discipline my child thank you very much" and she said "well, it's horrible, it's ear splitting." To which I smilingly answered "I think there'll be something else split in a sec if you don't watch yourself - your lip!!!"

Terrible to admit and I now at my rage, but grrrrrrr.

re: the UO combats, I will wear with fitted tank tucked in and Havianas ... maybe a denim jacket if chilly ... if wanting to look more 'done' just higher shoes (hasbeens) and more jewellery.

monkeysmama · 19/03/2010 16:39

You've convinced me - going to purchase them now.

Re the "incident". She got the shock of her life when I responded. She thought I was "foreign" (speaking Italian) and my angry cockney was not what she was expecting.

ApuskiDusky · 19/03/2010 16:46

I had to come back and say how impressed I am with UO - less than 3 hours from ordered to dispatched!!

And am joining in with the about the woman at the cafe MM - especially as your dd realised what was happening.

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 16:47

MM - what sad old crones. I'm so sorry you had that - and however much you know they were the stupid ones that sort of behaviour is always upsetting. I think there is nothing lovelier than the sound of happy children and imagine how jaded you would have to be not to find it joyful.

I however am not joyful as the dress is TOO BIG - there is no way I am a size 10 yet...but the dress is baggy. I'm disappointed as they've sold out in 10. Also the length is a tiny bit weird on me. just below the knee which is slightly dowdy. I'm going to see what DH thinks and see whether it's worth having altered. But I suspect the search is back on.

MM- it is indeed the blue floaty number - she may look amazing in it but I was hoping for silk at the very least...and it's not even that

monkeysmama · 19/03/2010 17:01

You know Hells I first got into clothes because of my auntie who would wear exactly that kind of dress when we went to their mansion (well, 4 bedroom detached but seemed like a castle then) for a bbq. I still have a soft spot for them obviously.

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 17:04

ahh that's a nice story MM - well DM is very very excited about this dress. She's not used to internet browsing and by some miracle that was the first dress she came across through google. I had already spoken to Selfridges personal shopping but she wants to try this first as she has a feelings it's the one. And if she's happy with it then so am I!

traceybath · 19/03/2010 17:25

Oooh MM how angry-making but well done on saying something. I too have had similar - Bath is frequented by lots of rich/older people and some of them appear to have never seen a small child before.

LTEC - I love your response to the ear splitting comment .

Hells - how annoying about the dress - could it be worth going down a size?

Well I'm now super brown - lets hope its not blotchy when I shower tomorrow.

Just got some white company stuff arrive for Bea - skinny white jeans for when she's one! Must make sure we don't wear them on the same day.

Tried on some bikinis today and realises I still have muffin top - actually I think I could lose another half a stone (which I don't want to) and still have the annoying padding on top of my hips.

hellsbelles · 19/03/2010 17:29

TRacey - how lovely to be tanned!

I would go down a size but they've sold out. I shall see if I can find it elsewhere.
